This is the best advice. Stayed in Strathyre once on holiday and it still remains one of best holidays I’ve ever been on. The highlands are gorgeous. Scotland definitely ranks at the top of places with the most natural beauty.
I’m from Puerto Rico, we have a very similar relationship with the US as Scotland has to England, and I went to Scotland and had an absolute blast! I ate haggis, went to the highlands and saw the hairy coos and lochs, drank Tennent’s by the pint at the pub watching the 6 Nations tournament and had all different brands of Scotch for an entire week to my heart’s content! Does it get any better than that? Just don’t be a jerk and the people are great. We looked so out of place too, considering we are Caribbean people and have skin tones and hair textures that, shall we say are uncommon in Scotland, but the Scottish were welcoming, helpful and kind. 10/10 would absolutely go back!

Midges are bad, but ticks are worse and can spread Lyme disease. 3. Avoid busy streets on a Friday or Saturday night unless you are out with more people (yes, like other places Scottish people can act up when drunk). 4. Glasgow and Edinburgh don't hate each other. 5. They both dislike Southern English folk more. 6. Bread???
You forgot the biggest stop calling our lochs locks 🔒 locks are found in doors and canals, and we do not have lakes ,and free Scotland no more excuses.

As a scot, I can safely say we are easy breezy, the only thing that annoys me is not being able to take kids out to a “pub” after a certain time cause we live in Edinburgh and have 4 kids and sometimes we just want to go out and eat and have a few drinks 😂

Stirling deserves to be the capital as it sits like a plaid brooch between the financial city of Edinburgh and the industrial might of Glasgow ...pinning the lowlands and Highlands together as Scotlands administrative center .It also has the best castle by the way and Bannockburn where Scotland showed to the world its an independent sovereign nation not to be trifled with on the battlefield. Edinburgh is to anglofied and an easy route to Berwick and the border countries.

There is a way to stop midges irritating you. Sit still by a bog for about an hour. When your skin is completely swollen you will no longer feel the bites. It does take a bit of will power though - I've only managed it once but it was quite a good test, being at Sligachan on a calm evening in August.

In Scotland if you ever venture out in the a.m for wildlife in Coatbridge someone once spotted a bat that was 1m 50cm or so tall hung from a tree backwards.

I visited Scotland last year and went Haggis hunting. You have to do it night by torchlight and they're very shy. You eat them with 'Potatoes of the night'
