NO COMPARISON. GALNERYUS brings grown men to tears. The world had no clue that rock music could be this euphoric and beautiful. Their songwriting & arrangements is the diamond & gold standard. Top of the pyramid. 💎🔺
Actually the Galneryus song "Angel of Salvation" is a 16 minutes track, the music video on youtube cuts it halfway which is why it had that abrupt fade out ending.
Galneryus is my favorite though
Yeah, I get why they used the music video, but it's a bit unfair when the full version is way longer. It's an epic song. Not saying that I prefer Galneryus. Both are great bands. I'm more obsessed with Lovebites though.
X Japan - Art Of Life (full version) probably can face to face with Angel Of Salvation, this song not represent Lovebites in my opinion. The comparison probably because filmed from the same place.

"Live in Tokyo 2021" containing Glory to the World will be released on September 29th. At the time of live performance, they will be equipped with a turbocharger, so I was looking forward to receiving the DVD. However, on August 17th, leader Miho (bass) announced that he would leave LOVEBITES, and this DVD will probably be Miho's last appearance on LOVEBAITES.
As one of the fans of LOVE BAITES, I am very sad.
I am very sad too. I pre-ordered the new concert blu-ray. I am pretty sure all the wolfpack did too!
Galneryus crushes any competitor ! Simply outstanding band (and I love the singing in Japanese).
Technically, they are way up there. But Lovebites has charm, nostalgia, and beauty on their side! Plus: the twin guitar attack of Midori and Miyako! ( And the CUTENESS of princess HARUNA! )
i beg to differ, with due respect to galneryus, i dont hv feel special with them but for Lovebites, its like something else, these ladies got magic, positive vibe in me.

The comparison seems kind of odd to me; I like both bands but if I have to choose then Lovebites definitely is my favorite. Japanese rock bands are awesome.
They both great and different
Syu’s playing is unique and has more feeling, while Lovebites has awesome guitarists but They sound like a lot of world guitarists that exists in Japan, Europe, Us…
Syu is a rare guitarist that sound like extinct from the world.
The word ‘Battle’, seems to attract some criticism but I know this is just a way to make a lively discussion.

That is indeed Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto! In fact, the song and the Concerto begin in the exact same way. All the quotations in the song are from the 1st movement of the Concerto, except the solo which is from the 3rd movement

The live version of Angel of Salvation is epic and there is a version with eng subs on the live version.... and now we are waiting for the live version in the new DVD from Lovebites, check out their trailer "Heavy metal never dies" ... Buy the way!!!! It is not a studio.. Nerdfact is: The church name is Casa D'Angela in Tokyo. So the Japanese can marry western style with the hole kit. There is 2 million Christians in Japan and there is appr 6 million "christian" weddings so far in Japan. This church is just business....

This may be off the track, but Koreans seem to like it.
I mean, I get that the videos were filmed at the same location and there are a few more similarities, but I feel like this comparison doesn't fully work. Also the full version of Angel of Salvation is a lot longer as already stated. It's quite epic and hard to compare to almost any song in existence, really. It just feels so big. Both are great bands. I'm truly obsessed with Lovebites though.

Yes, SYU is a monster, and Yukhi most of the time do the same with him, the ancient and the present Drummer are monster speed and technic, and the Bass player is more shy but he shine in the rythm, conclusion they are MONSTERS

For me the real point is that both of these bands should be far better known in the West. The U.S., in particular, seems closed to artists from other parts of the world, which is our loss. Our rock scene is lacking in ambition and originality. American bands would not use words like "glory" unironically. Thanks for featuring both bands. Making it a contest seems a little besides the point, however. An analysis of the similarities and differences in their compositions, on the other hand, would be more interesting.

Very well put. So many Asian and European bands that should actually be known world-wide. But we have to remember one thing, very often it is also a Label problem. Band-Maid and Lovebites for example for a very long time had no way to get their albums on the international markets. We had to buy from Japan at insane prices and wait times for shipping. And as far as I am aware, Asian labels are the only ones that still operate mostly domestic and refuse to work with international distributers.

@@MetalAcademix Exactly, that is another problem. For years whenever I got people interested in asian metal I had to add that their music is unavailable on Spotify and similar platforms. It is actually mindboggling why they resisted digital distribution for so long. And I am 100% convinced that it did a very big disservice to their music industry for years to come.

Both these bands are new to me, good discoveries to add to my playlist. I'm a sucker for big loud guitar solos, and compared on this point, both bands deliver some hot stuff. I read some of the other comments saying that Lovebites have other songs more heavy on the guitar, so which songs would you recommend where the two guitars really take it all out?
Essentially every Lovebites song features dual solos and/or duets.

Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude”. Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. If you search for solos from Galneryus I can just recommend you to look up their last 4 albums. Syu has a solo on every song, thought I might say that I love The Force of Courage and Raise my Sword if we talk about great solos. Also, Angel of Salvation is actually a 14 minutes songs + this video cuts a very big solo. These songs are in my Top 15 but not Top 5, thought they are the greatest solo songs I know.
For Lovebites I would recommend Shadowmaker, Set the World on Fire, Judgement Day, Pledge of the Saviour and Mastermind 01 for starters.
Awesome bands both! I know someone who could really use the lyrics to the Lovebites song (we probably all could sometimes), but there is no doubt I prefer the Galneryus guitar work, if I were to choose.
I realise the focus on this channel is on heavy and power, but it would be interesting to see a battle between the venerable Bolt Thrower and the upstart War Master?
Some perspectives one year lat(er): either band comes out on top depending on whether you are considering the song's composition, the group's performance-delivery, or visceral effect on you as the listener. Individual technique and musicality show off better in Galneryus, whereas Lovebites demonstrates a composite technical and musical excellence. Not surprising that you don't see a single player in Lovebites, like either Miyako or Midori, outshine the other. Likewise, Miho and Haruna are (were, rather) so solid in their rhythmic drive, that you can't have one without the other. In Galneryus, at least in Angel of Salvation, Syu shines without any real competition from the others, so he emerges as the star of the song. Masatoshi's and Asami's vocals differ most, with the former blending into the instrumental parts and the latter providing a decisive layer to the overall texture. I took to Masatoshi Ono's voice right away. Asami's vocals had to grow on me for the first three LB songs I heard, but, wow, she really is a remarkable singer. Glory to the World is a better song composition-wise -- thematically tighter with sections that are better proportioned. Honestly, I'm moved equally by each piece, although Galneryus and Angel of Salvation were new to me today, which speaks to their giving me a strong first impression. I've been listening to Lovebites for a little over a year now, so I'm more familiar with their entire output, nearly all of which is outstanding.
Really great that you found two power metal performances by two different bands, playing in a very similar musical style in the same visual setting! I'm more taken by the coincidences than trying to compare the two bands or their songs. With Angel dating back to 2012, I have to think that Midori et cie. perhaps were inspired by what Galneryus did; if so, Glory to the World is a nice tribute to them.
For me, the vote goes to Lovebites.
Think Galneryus sound in this track very much like Jupiter, which have 2 guitarists with symphonic metal sound. They also filmed in this spot. I prefer the vocal style of Asami Lovebites, l would of thought the Lovebites song Swan song with the Chopin intro would be a more better comparison, I prefer the contrasting styles of Lovebites guitarist, and Thier rhythem section drum and bass seem to have a greater role in the Lovebites track. Galneryus seem to have a great guitarist but not much else. In which case l prefer Hizaki from Jupiter
Galneryus are definitely more than just Syu, but he is such a virtuoso that he might almost overshadow the other band members at times. Could be the mix as well. But they are all excellent musicians.

galneryus Keyboardist is a monster too... listen to their instrumental "Emotion".
Regarding the placement of the vocalists--This happens to be much more a showcase for Asami than most Lovebites songs, so maybe it was not the optimal choice. As you noted at the end, the duelling guitarists are a huge selling point of the band, and there are other songs which highlight that more.
This is, to me, Galneryus' opus, and it will take a lot to beat tbh
one thing that lovebites don't have, but galneryus have is yuhki the keyboardist, many people is too guitar-centered, while overlooking the other members, i can say that galneryus' members are maestros of their instruments

Actually Miyako the black haired guitarist also classical trained pianist, she also play piano/keyboard on some Lovebites songs. She is not too technical like Yuhki, but her piano style reminds me to Yoshiki from X Japan.

When I think of music from Japan... I immediately think of 3 bands: Lovebites, Galneryus, and Wagakki Band.
And I would never try to compare them or say which one is best. I like LOVEBITES best, but it's just my personal taste and feelings.

You cant compare Galneryus with Lovebites...pointless ....there are so many differences. Both bands are great at what they do.

Galneryus are true legends, shame about the inconsistent sound in recent albums compared to their earlier work, but they are still miles ahead of most metal bands of recent years. I do think Galneryus have a more throughout song structure, where I can remember sections of their songs more than in Lovebites. Perhaps is their experience or maybe like guy host said is more of a composition where all members play an important role to create, whilst in Lovebites is more centered around the singing which is also a bit more poppy and everything else just follows.
On the other hand, Lovebites album always consistent with straight up power metal and thrash metal. They never downgrade/mix with pop, punk, etc. so far. I haven't followed Galneryus in a long time, however Galneryus is still one of my favorite Japanese bands along with Lovebites and X Japan.
In my opinion choose Galneryus if you prefer more technical, faster guitar solos, more complex sounds.
Choose Lovebites/X Japan if you want easy listening and a more memorable song/lyrics

Apples and Oranges: There is little doubt that Galneryus are more technical and experienced, given their age, with both groups exhibiting the Japanese work ethic and pursuit of excellence. However, Lovebites is a transformative group with global signifance beyond "Japanse metal" or "metal", not just because they are female ... not just because the choose the daunting to sing in English (a very hard task for most Japanese, period) ... but examine the depth and significance of their lyrics. If you look at their live shows in Tokyo, you realize you're not just looking at musicians, but at artists telling a story: Four examples exhibit this: Swan Song (with Chopin intro), Break the Wall, Frozen Serenade, and Edge of the World. Kindly send me links that show how Galneryus matches the aforementioned.
galneryus takes it for me i saw them live, angel of salvation is more like a 16 minute song, this as compressed as it gets, about 50% of the song it cuts out a lot of the feeling still

Lovebites are absolutely fantastic but from a technique point of view Galneryus is infinitely beyond them (although comparing technique is a little unfair, Galneryus are infinitely beyond most bands anywhere in the world technique wise, they're similar to Dream Theater and Symphony X in that regard). I also think Galneryus is more creative in their song-writing. That said I can find Galneryus can get a bit too twiddly diddly for a bit too long at times (not Angel of Salvation, that whole thing is pure fire). Guitar solos are cool but I always really want them to feel like they have a point and a few Galneryus tracks can verge into soloing for soloing's sake IMO. Pro's and con's to both bands, but they're both excellent.
More creative, they who plays tchaikowsi instead of something they did themself....
Maybe I've listened to too much metal, from Bathory to Blind Guardian to Saint Vitus to dream theater, but lovebites does sound a bit generic while Galneryus stands out more, not to say lovebites is bad because everything is very well done but if you're looking for something unique Galneryus is much more likely to hit the spot.

The tastes are the tastes! The song structure of Glory of the World is better than Angel of salvation, more linear. The fact that Galneryus takes more time, indicates that they fail to complete the development of the piece. Every song had to intro, central part and the end. Thanks.

I like lovebites more, but Angel of Salvation is Galneryus best song imo. The Lovebites song is great, but not close to their best imo so I vote Galneryus for this particular battle.

Lovebites I think is the most talented (skills + songwriting) progressive/power metal band in the world right now. I had never heard the Galneryus track before, it’s very nice. The Lovebites melodies are much more pleasing to my ears of the 2.

You should listen to angel of salvation 14 mins lenght live version. This song is a masterpiece and was some fresh air to power metal scene back in 2012.

If it’s pure speed your interested in then Galneryus guitar player wins but Lovebites definitely has catchier hooks in both their melodies and leads. That’s probably why they have about twice as many RUclips followers as Galneryus who has been around many years longer. Don’t get me wrong, Galneryus has very good songs but I’ll stick to my original statement even after reviewing the evidence.
@@excellentrecruiter5824 Syu is not about speed, he's all about phrasing and vibrato, speed is someone like yngwie Malmsteen (which i hate live because it's too show offy and not melodic at all). And Syu's guitar work is more unique, i feel like I've listened to lovebites somewhere else but Galneryus stands out a lot from the typical metal sound especially the progression throughout the song and syu's guitar work (the vocals aren't unique bit are extremely fitting for the sound).

Syu guitar playing is awesome but that's about it for me, Galneryus songs don't really click with me, at least the ones i have heard so far.
LOVEBITES on the other hand have not 1 but 2 amazing guitarists and they take advantage of that as you can hear in all of their songs, and their song writing is on another level for me, also i really like Asami's vocals! LOVEBITES for me all the way everyday! 🤘🙂🐺

For my musical taste, my vote goes to Lovebites. The reigning Queens of power metal. Elite talent at the top of their game! Their skill level and precision is second to none. Not a single weak link in the band! Thanks for the great comparison reaction...
100% - no other band at present comes close to their skill level. In addition they have the looks and even their outfits are unique making them the ultimate stand out.

Galneryus is a good band..but i pick lovebites coz it fits my taste of music..lovebites forever..

@@MetalAcademix all of their songs are excellent but my favorite is probably Viking Soul. They're a power metal band from Brazil. They have an amazing vocalist and play epic songs full of big chunky riffs.

Tbh Galneryus has more unique sound than compared to Lovebites. And between the two songs, Angel of Salivations mix is is more balanced as well as songs composition.

These two bands have a lot in common.
First of all, "Both are by far the most technical members."
Vocals, guitars, basses, drums, keyboards, all members have top-notch techniques. (Lovebites Miyako is a master of piano)
And "both have an anime theme song, and there are members who have experience in classical music together."
In addition, "Galneryus and Lovebites are highly evaluated for their perfection in live performances."
The two bands are "West and East Yokozuna", so the levels are perfectly equal.

Syu is a composer, the other two copy, there's no way to compare. Technically he is on a level far above. The vocalist (Lovebites) is technically superior, she has higher notes and is spectacular. Very cool video, of course musical taste is personal, but this can lead to really cool discussions, as well as taking the bands sound further.
Syu is an incredible guitarist, no doubt. But Miyako and Midori are fantastic as well.

I love both bands. Syu is probably the best guitarist I have seen/heard. However, the dual guitar attack of Midori and Miyako surpasses that because it creates a more appealing sound to me. Individually their solos aren't that far behind Syu's but together they create magic. Asami has an amazing voice in this song and you can't beat the message in the lyrics of the Lovebites song. Lovebites drumming is far superior in this song and I think the bass is too. My vote goes for Lovebites for all those reasons.

I like both bands. It's just one song to compare both bands but if you're hear their discographies i'll put them as equals.
nah.. in term of Discographies, Galneryus are far more versatile... Lovebites is a new band after all. Early album of Galneryus is Heavy AF with their old vocalist, their newer album are more uplifting and epic with their new vocalist
@@saddocatto9245 Lovebites aren't that new. And their discography is really diverse as well. But I agree that it's a bit unfair, given that Galneryus have been around much longer.

X Japan - Art Of Life (full version) probably can face to face with Angel Of Salvation(full version), But this song not represent Lovebites in my opinion. The comparison probably because filmed from the same place.

Best male J-metal : Galneryus
Best female J-metal : Lovebites
No, the song was not representative of Lovebites discography. It is chosen because it is arguably a good comparison to Angel of salvation. Lovebites, as we also say in the video, has a varied compositional record, and many songs are much more guitar oriented than Glory to the world.

The first song was good but it doesn’t hit me the way LOVEBITES does despite people’s criticism of Asami singing I feel she has more range than most male vocalists giving her an edge and Midori and Miyako no one and I mean no one comes close to the their skill level of six string samurai shredding
yes, especially for the song itself, it so cacthy lyric n melody, even if you are new to LOVEBITES.
fyi and not only 6 strings, Midori uses her signature FRX 7strings on some songs

Both play their instruments well, but Galneryus has much better song writing IMO. Every time I've tried to listen to Lovebites, excluding the intros of some songs, I feel like I've heard everything they have to offer in about 30 seconds. It reminds me of Manowar after Hail to England. I just can't get into it, but if it works for you, that's great. There's room for music that appeals to different tastes
Actually Lovebites also play thrash metal like Metalica/slayer..
For catchy power metal with great guitar solos from Lovebites I recommended: We The United, Shadowmaker and Under The Red Sky. This song not represent Lovebites in my opinion.
You really can't have listened to many Lovebites songs. They have a lot of variety to them.
if we talk about variety. the one that galneryus did from the beginning and continues to do is immensely superior. I like LB, but his music, at least for someone who has a technical musical knowledge, is also much easier to understand in comparison, which makes it clear that it is not a bad thing at all.
@@nahuelherrera3401 Lovebites are really technical and they have very complex songs, actually. No epics like Angel of Salvation yet, but that might change eventually. Not that every band has to. I wouldn't generalize.

In my opinion it's LOVEBITES all the way, they blew the pants off those fellas, they're still looking for them, Wolfpack all the way
Of course Galneryus , Syu is really a master of playing guitar with unique composing , amazing skills and feelings , while Lovebites is a good band , it just sound similar to other Japanese band , there's a lack of uniqueness.
