When you shower in a camper you wet yourself down then on the shower head there’s a button to turn off the water so you wet yourself, turn off, wash, turn back on and rinse so you don’t fill the tank as fast☀️

Tip for food.. take jars/bags of sauce eg curry, thai, chinese, Bolognese. Dehydrated soya meat. We take a lot of dehydrated chinese noodles and couscous (both just need hot water added) and quick rice that just needs heating up. So nothing needs cooked for ages. Tins of beans and veg. Tortilla wraps. I make jars of antipasti veg, so take those. Nuts, dried fruit and beef jerky, crackers are good snacks. Also i plan meals before we go, so i know i have enough.
I have a small clear lid bin with all out camping stuff ie plates, cups, cutlery, cooker, washing-up bag, clothes, soaps etc just ready to take/go in the attic next to our tents, camping chairs + table, collapsible flat-pack buckets and tub, etc
We all use soft very small hand-luggage square cases.. each person has one with 3 packing cubes.. 1 for trousers, shorts, 1 for tshirts, tops, swimming costumes, 1 for pants and socks. We use them for camping, 2 week flight holidays etc. Always wear things more often when on holiday.
Surely campsites in the US have shower/washroom facilities where you can wash your dishes? They do in the UK, Europe, etc..

We camped for the first time. Got all set up, with our 3-month-old baby. Once set up the ranger came thru and said there were hurricane warnings and to leave. 2nd camping trip we arrived on Saturday to rain. It rained Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday we went home, and the sun came out. We sold our camping equipment!

We took our kids camping in Michigan when they were younger. Probably the one thing that I loved the most was sitting on the sand and watching the sunset over the lake. It was so gorgeous over the water. We stayed at a campground and slept in a tent. Memories!

We bought an rv last year and when we are on a campsite we shower in the facilities every day - if I couldn’t shower I would go crazy immediately 😂 we even shower if we are in the wild. My little bathroom was my requirement for the rv. My own toilet, too 😅.
I would love to see more vacation trips of you. Very informing and fun

Try camping with two little kids in Volkswagen vans. We crossed the USA almost every summer from the west coast to visit family in North Carolina. We also camped at national and state parks on many weekends. When kids were older they set up their own little tents near van. It was an affordable way to see the country. And there are many good memories like the ones from your trip to remember.

Shannon don’t worry about your moms story about using the plastic tub for feet washing and then doing dishes. Builds immunity. If my family would have seen where some of the food I served them had been they wouldn’t eat it. Or would it not bother them at all. My boys thought the best thing about camping was not having to take a bath. Also, it’s possible to go two weeks camping without making a long run into the nearest town to replenish. We didn’t eat while camping like we did at home either. We did it without a camper, only a tent!

Hi ladies! I am with your dad. Not a fan of camping but I do love being in nature by going to the beach, hiking (my middle son and I walked the state park trails in April which was great!), and just walking outside in general
Having had 3 boys like you Shannon, and my mom having my sister and me, I feel the same!
I used to tell my mom when she came to visit “don’t even watch them mom!!! “
Doing crazy things like jumping from trampoline into the pool. 😂😂😂

Shannon, you and your mother are the greatest duo. It's so fun to watch. I can see how much your camping experience enhanced your life. Your whole being brightened up when you talked about how much you loved the nature in the area and how much you want to go back or experience different places. My husband and I have been camping in various ways (backpacking, car camping, teardrop trailer, fiberglass trailer, and now truck camper) for many years and you get better with each trip and with each experience. You will be more streamlined and efficient and it will become second nature. Soon you will be shopping for your own camper or trailer! 😉The Eastern Sierra can take years to explore.

I so enjoyed your camping trip. I also have 3 kids and we had a truck with the camper that goes on the truck. I too had to have clean feet for everyone at the end of the day. We camped in the mountains and in San Diego at Campland. It is across the bay from Sea World. On the beach and they have all kinds of kid activities. My kids loved it. 2 pools, movies at night, fire works from sea world. It was like glancing. California has so many great camping places so you may want to get a trailer someday. My kids are grown and have kids but still we talk about how much fun the camping days were. Love to your mom

Coffee - I switched to the Pour Over Method of making coffee, several years ago. So much better, it tastes better, its fresher and you're starting with a clean pot/utensils every time. Coffee makers, no way to really clean them. Even if they're cleaned once a month (no one does) they are never really clean inside; interior tubing always wet, doesn't get to dry out which inhibits mold and mildew growth.
Lists, lists and more lists. Bins, bins, and more bins. Have your lists ready and designate bins for certain items, all labeled.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time and it should be an annual thing you do, something for the kids to look forward to each year. And, yes, you should try other areas, more of an adventure and memories.
And...give each kid a flash light. We used to do this, inexpensive ones, they loved having their own.

Hi Linda, I just looked up the pour over method and remember doing that about 40 years ago. I agree with you about the Keurig machines and the possibility of mold. I will do the pour over method next time I go camping because I can just throw the paper filter away and won't have to clean out the press. Thanks for the advice. Kathy

Yosemite is a great place to camp, especially if you’re not seasoned campers because it’s civilized camping. You can go to the grocery store you can pay two dollars for a shower. It’s probably more than two dollars now as I haven’t been in a very long time, you know if you need allergy medicine there’s a store there you can go get it, I consider that more civilized camping. There are toilets that aren’t outhouses.

I lived in MT for 13 years and we went camping all summer weekends. First in tent, then camper. It was wonderful. At first I was terrified of grizzlies but after getting camper I felt safer. Like your mother I was bothered about the shower. So we tried to always camp near small towns that accommodated truckers. But I did sacrifice sometimes using sponge bathing. I still hate packing for outings, and then the unpacking. It’s like a real pre planned vacation. Never completely got over my fear of grizzlies but did learn to really love the other animals I was exposed to, especially the water creatures, baby ducks and beavers and such. MT is a beautiful state, highly suggest you try there sometime and if your lucky maybe find some huckleberries..

I would prob have to have a mat or such. I have a number of cats here (indoor/outdoor) and we have a good bit of yard dirt…and so making those dirt cover spaces around the perimeter really cuts down on the foot dirt. 😬
What I also don’t like about camping are the bugs and suffering in the higher humidity. Lol. (We are in the southeast so we have to deal with things like humidity, mosquitos etc).
My grandparents used to take us camping a lot but I actually prefer places like KOA. Having a proper cabin and a pool was really nice. (For me it was like “pool bathing” so it cuts down on having to take showers lol).

My favorite part was "story time with Grandma". We just experienced a 5 hour drive day that became 10 hrs. A stop in Atlanta to see my daughter and grands saved the day. 10 hours pulling an Airstream down interstate 75. And yes it was great seeing Levi play in the dirt. A dunk in the river and its all good. Y'all need quarterly breaks ~ "Nanna" Wanda & Vinnie (and yes water weighs the most, so look for POTABLE water) And our outdoor rug came from the same store that Cathy got her hat * and our runners came from "Lone Fox" that we use inside our rig. Collapsible buckets, round one and rectangle one from TJM. And compression cubes for our clothes (Tide stick and laundry sheets)

Something has just come to mind for me to mention to Kathy.. I noticed there was mention that her nose or sinuses were very dry during camping. Just the cheap little bottle of two dollar natural saline spray works great for that! I have allergies and have started to use it. Sometimes, my nose gets so dry, I almost get a nosebleed from blowing it too often. 🤧Just thought I would mention that might be a good thing to take next time you go camping ha ha
P.S. I've never been camping because I don't do too well with...dirt lol And I guess just the fact that I'm allergic to a lot of things in nature since I have a hay fever .... As far as solitude, That would be the definite pull for me to go outside of my comfort zone. I had to smile at the washing of the feet and that serene area when you climbed to the top of that cliff.. Yes , the closer to Jesus' parts in those aspects would be wonderful. If only I could get past dislike of dirt & my allergies😂

Camping does take work but can be worth it. Are you able to go somewhere closer, like maybe2 or 3 hours away rather than 6 hours? Or could your mom leave a day earlier and stay overnight one night at a B@B or hotel to rest before driving that far? Just some thoughts.

I was surprised since you’re from California that you called what you stayed in a camper. I thought everybody on the West Coast called them trailers and people in the Midwest call them campers. That was always a trailer where I lived in California, a camper was the thing that went on the back of your pickup truck, and a cab over camper had the part that went over the cab of the pickup truck. I’m hearing lately that those are starting to become popular again oddly enough. I didn’t think they were a thing anymore at all.

My Uncle will be 90 in November. I asked him what decade was his favorite. He said the 60’s when they would go camping with the kids. They had 5 so that was their vacation every year. 🏕️

At the campsite they did have a special locker for food incase people sleep in tents or need a safe place to store it. =)

As a Brit, it really makes me giggle that you call that camping! Camping is in a tent, as we used to do when I was a young teenager. I hated it, and it sparked my love for hotels! In England, we call what you did, 'caravanning'. That is very much not roughing it and is comparative luxury compared to a tent. I'm glad you enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and I'm sure the young ones loved it. The creek looked great. But please Americans, don't call it camping!!!

If they were in the UK, they probably would call it “caravanning”. But, they are in the US, so it’s called “camping” or “RV-ing”

Isn’t vocabulary interesting? I have camped for nearly 70 years, intents and camper trailers. I have never used the term caravaning. Nor heard it.

Most people call it RV (recreational vehicle) camping over here. But, yeah, plenty of people do tent camping over here, too. I think it was neat that you could rent the RV, stay in it and decide if a RV is something you’d like to buy or better yet, not have to buy one and worry about towing it there. To each his own!

You gals are so fun, I gotta give free fashion advice to my lovely mom, take a look at Shannons length on her sleeves and how deep her neckline is, the sleeves are much shorter and the the neckline isn't so deep in comparison to your top, much better look for you and you will look slimmer, stay away from Walmart and Target for these plain tee's, they are cheap but make us look fat, until the next video

I think your mom doesn’t need to keep for camping since she didn’t really seem to like it too much.
