My grandmother passed away and so many family members gathered a couple months later at her house to go through her stuff. It was chaos and 10 years later people are still angry about what someone else got. Then my mom passed away just a few years ago and there were problems between me, my siblings and our children with her belongings. Both times were overwhelming, a huge burden and trauma to us and I know they never wanted us to go through that, but they never thought about how much it would affect us. I don't want my kids to go through that, so I have been decluttering, organizing and doing the Swedish death cleaning method also. Your mom is so funny, and I like to watch the two of you together. It is great she is also decluttering.
I love this decluttering train analogy! I have had some resistance from my mom in the beginning too, but over time she has decided she wanted to declutter.
I’m your mom’s age...and I’ve saved a pair of nylons ( pantyhose) for “dress up”. But...when is dress up? Not so much anymore. Ha ha. It gives us comfort to know they are there, just in case..... BTW...I still call them “nylons”, too.

My friend and I were just talking about how we only wear like our 2 favorite comfortable bras. When one needs washed, we wear the other. Its amazing how much extra stuff we have that's never worn.🙂

My mom is Queen of Clutter! She is now in a nursing home for rehab and must go into assisted living. My brother and I had to declutter her house. What a chore. Three days later, 2 trips to Goodwill and a filled small dumpster, we are almost done! After we get her moved, we will declutter more!

Yes!!! If bras are still in excellent condition, post them on Ebay!!! I wear an odd size and the brand I prefer is made in Europe. Very hard to find in the US. I am always excited to find them on ebay!!!

We’ve been in our current home for 19 years and there are definitely things that haven’t moved. Years ago we finished our basement and put some boxes under the stairs. They’re still there and I have no idea what’s in those boxes. I need a grown daughter who’s a minimalist too to help me.😂

Love seeing your mom again! She’s not the only one who stores non clothing items in a dresser. LOL. I’ve lost my decluttering motivation the past couple months. Thank you both for showing how easy it can be. PS... if your mom thinks she might convert any of her old tapes to an electronic format she might want to hang onto that camera. We’re converting some old family tapes and wanted to buy a camera to view the tapes before converting them. It wasn’t easy finding one that actually worked properly.
