I've been religiously loving the Phantom LUTs with my a7S III, but the more I look into Cineprint16, the more I want to use it. Might have to pull the trigger soon!
oh wow!!! after watching you other video on the same topic i was also looking for HLG and im so glad i found another one of your videos lol definitely staying tuned for your vids!
This is a great video, and I can also confirm this process works well with current iPhone footage. As I'm writing this, that would be iPhone 14 pro for me. You'll be tempted to set CST to rec.2020, but I find Rec709 works much better.
Hi! Thank you for a great video. Just a question. You said there is no HLG profile in CST, which I'm not really agree with) If you shoot HLG, BT.2020 you put Rec.2020 as Input color space and Rec.2100 HLG as an Input Gamma. But if you shoot HLG, Rec.709, you just put Rec.709 as a color space, but still keep Rec 2100 HLG as input gamma. Or It doesn't work well with Cineprint?
Hey Taras! Ah we didn’t know HLG correlated to Rec.2020. We’ll definitely have a look into that, thanks for that! W We usually pair HLG with Rec.709 and found for the CST using Rec.709 for both your input colour gamma and input colour space works. At the end of the day as long as you’re able to achieve your desired look, it’s a win!
@@meliorstudios Rec.2020 is actually color space, if you set your camera to BT.2020. But as far as I know you guys shoot HLG, Rec.709, so it's Rec.709 as input color space and Rec.2020 HLG as an Input gamma in CST. My personal recommendation is to set your Picture Profile to BT.2020, HLG3. BT.2020 much wider color space, which gives you more colors
hi guys someone can explain to me why if I use a video log, and I set in color management rec 709 (scene), and I use CST output color space and output gamma "use timeline" is very contrasted, while if in output color space and output I use rec .709 the image is less contrasted and less saturated. shouldn't it be the same process? why these differences?
@@paologambi8312 Hey, shoulden't be like this. What Log and what color spase do you use in your camera? In project settings, Color management page, set Color Science-DaVinci YRGB and timeline color space-Rec.709 Gamma 2.4. In CST Set Input Color Space and input Gamma as it was in your camera, output Gamma-Rec.709 Output color space should be the same "use timeline " or Rec.709. Love your vids man! Ive been looking foword to a tutorial on this for a long time. You think you could do a video on how to expose correctly on slog 2 when you are shooting??
Thanks Willy. And of course we can, we’ll add it to the list. We briefly went over it in this video: ruclips.net/video/5n1rm_46fkg/видео.html but we can go into in more depth if you’d like
Thank you so much for this. I purchased Cineprint16 from your website and have been using it and I love it. What do you recommend me to shoot with a Sony ZV1? S-log3/s-gamut cine? HLG-3? It’s a small sensor so I might be better results with a picture profile that has a lower base ISO
If you can, because ZV1 is only 8 bit we’d recommend sticking to Slog2 for brighter conditions and using a variable nd to expose ( we have a video coming today on how to expose for slog2) and then HLG3 for low light conditions or bright conditions if you don’t have an ND as you can bring that iso value down
This is a very valuable video! Thanks! If you don't mind, what do you guys recommend when exposing HLG3 on the A7iii in low light scenarios? Is it best to overexpose or do I expose at 0.0?
With HLG3 you should expose at +/- 0 correct. Though there is a little leniency we’ve found that you’re also able to expose by +1 stops and you should be okay
Depending on your picture profile settings, if you’re using PP8. Then your input colour space will be S-gammut and your input colour gamma will S-log3. This is for the CST node. Apart from the, the rest of the process will be the same
The free version will work however you won’t be able to use the Denoise or Film grain nodes. But you can just turn those off. We’ve added free grain overlays one out video description for filmmakers who don’t use the studio version of Davinci
Hey man, we’re currently using the Sony A7iii with either the Sony 35mm f/1.8 or adapt the canon 24-70mm f2.8 using the sigma mic-11 adapter. For the past few months we’ve only been using the ronin-s gimbal and that’s about it. When we do shoot handheld we do use the Andycine A6 plus monitor
Love this tutorial and your channel. Subbed! I'm running into issues importing a fcpx xml timeline into davinci resolve, have you run into this problem before? seems like a pretty common problem that no one has addressed yet from my research!
Thanks a lot for watching! And I don’t have too much experience with fcpx unfortunately, only had experience with premiere pro to davinci. Have you made sure you have the latest version of Davinci downloaded?
Yup we learnt after making this video by another viewer that Rec2020 should be used for HLG, thanks for the clarity. We’ll update this with another video soon. Tho rec.709 can work rec2020 is correct
These videos have drastically improved my ability to color grade. Thank you for the help!
