To make playground equipment of whole timber I used chain saw blades for aggressive stock removal (Arbortech) and micro-cutters for fine cuts/smoothing (Agera),,, so it would be nice to try one of these Graffs and see if it works excellent for woodworkers too :)

I’m a big fan of yours, your passion is obvious in everything you do.
I’m a chippy myself, bought a disc like this few years back, it’s perfect for notching out timbers etc during first fix, BUT I got rid of it after 10 min, it’s highly dangerous, it can chop of a finger or limb in no time even using both hands, of course you had no trouble with it with your work piece clamped down, but we all know that on building sites things dont work that way, would use a circular saw without a safety guard?
PLEASE PLEASE stick to the old tools, chisel, multicutter ect,
I am going to do a bit more research. I use the tool with a guard.
Brilliant blades roger sounds daft but I use it for scribing fancy skirting s works a treat better than a coping saw👍
I use a flap disc the same way, a bit safer but same idea.

Yeah those chainsaw discs are nuts. if you search "you need to know how dangerous these tools are" by stumpy nubs. He has just been injured by one and it shows you the accident.
Ah Roger you could have got one for Steve and Alex too 😉😁. I can see these coming in handy for removing roots 👌🏼. As for the ears good to see you looking after them , we put factor 50 on a minimum of twice a day , more if I’ve really hot , stay safe pal 🧱👍🏼

Looks like an accident waiting to happen in the wrong hands, I've never come close with an angle grinder but I have seen when it goes wrong, looks very handy for certain situations. You look like Sgt. Elias in Platoon Roger

Just a thought Roger, one of Robin's ear defenders make even more sense and longer hair helps, should be easy to grow in these times.
I had long hair for years. I could go back to it. The ear defenders are a good idea, I have plenty of those and quite like wearing them but it is hard when you are filming.

Yeah it took me about three years and a lot of nagging from my wife. Every time I go to the doctors they tell me something I would rather not know.
looks a lot more malleable than my 125 wood cutting disc and good idea to hold on real tight as at that speed it could kickback or something, might not get injured but do damage to your work. Thanks for the video

@@SkillBuilder Ha well I am sure there are exceptions but there are butchers about. Plumbers clean up half the time then rush off, most sparks don't want to get their trainers dirty and think Hoover means an American president.

I use flappy pad discs to shape wood or aggressively sand it and shape it. These are super dangerous! use a saw or even a multi saw. Careful chaps if you decide to use one of these, im sure they have their uses and i could think of many. careful though.
I like those flappy pads as well. Good for scribes on skirtings

Yes but we are only just learning about hot weather. It has rained here for the last 1000 years. BTW I have a hat as well.
@@SkillBuilder I've been around as long as you fella.. The amount of sun burnt builders or scaffolders still amazes me.. I also lived in Australia for 20 years.. Guys getting their ears chopped off due to melanoma is quite high in the older generation.. Now days we are more educated.. Hopefully.. And wear a mask for the virus too!

Thank you Roger for the review. But, this kind of tool which has teeth is seriously dangerous due to kick back. Carving discs which rely on abrasion are safer.
Can you give me some evidence of that? I have yet to hear that from anyone who has used one. It is designed not to kick back. If you can point me towards some substantiation it would help. If it is dangerous we will take this video down.

It was a different type of blade. A chainsaw type of tooth.
I'm not endorsing the blade in the video of course, I think there are a dozen tools I'd go to first before using a grinder on wood.

Hi roger , was this from your wacky baky days 78 80 days!! I’m not sure yet 0.25 seconds in , any way the problem iv got is ! You may care to check out a You Tube channel called Stumpy Nubs and look at the injuries he sustained to his fingers while using a similar disc for carving. Even the most experienced can have accidents, and we all know accidents happen in a split second. Sorry, I'm not that clever with computers were I could link to the vid. It's not a tool for me for sure, and if I needed the capabilities of a chainsaw then I'd use a chainsaw. And before all the You Tube Police start piping up let me say this, I'm one of those who's not afraid to stand up to the wife... With her permission of course!
We have seen the video of the accident and it is a completely different tool. This tool doesn't kick back.

I've followed the Skill Builder channel for years, as well reading numerous Roger Bisby penned articles in trade magazines and I don't wish to start a argument here, however I, like you Roger, have many years experience in the construction industry (I'm three years off my official retirement date) and I've witnessed my fair share of the aftermath of job site accidents, some of them life threatening, some of them career changing through momentary lapses of reason whilst using tools, and to say that something doesn't, or hasn't, does not guarantee that it never will. Don't get me wrong I too have had a few close shaves from which I've drawn valuable lessons, i.e, fatigue clouds judgement. But hey-ho, I'm not the Internet police and if you're happy using such attachments who am I to call you out. For my part I'll continue to live by the adage I was taught on day one of my apprenticeship 'YOUR safety begins with YOU.'

@@billyrussell5148 We have been selling the blade for 8 years now and we never received feedback that there were kickbacks. You cant compare the chainsaw to this disc because the chainsaw is much more dangerous. We have certificates from Germany (MPA Hannover) which state that the disk is safe to use. We also have EAC certificates that assure the quality of the blades. We also sent our blades all around the world to more than hundreds of bloggers and all sorts of masters who have tested the blade and no one ever had an accident. If you follow all the instructions and guidelines, you will not have an injury as well. But, unfortunately, there are a lot of Chinese fakes out there and obviously, they use our logos and original images which confuses people. Since the Chinese fakes are cheaper, lots of people buy them and put themselves in danger of having an injury.

On that basis I can see inherent safety issues with such tool accessories and have accordingly made the conscious decision that I will not put my safety at risk by the use of such accessories.
As to the quality of your manufacturing, as opposed to faked copies, that is a subject upon which I have no direct experience and can offer no opinion.
My father who is maybe a bit older then yourself has been suffering similar skin issues as you. He is always covered in high powered sunscreen!

Obviously this is not the same as the blade you were using, but as you say, you have to be really careful.

Try rubbing honey on your ears. My cousin tried it for a few weeks and his ears healed. Sounds crazy but he swears by it.

I didn't find any evidence of kick back because there are depth limiters on the blade. A lot of people who use them say they are controllable.
