Total solar eclipse: Who will be able to see it, when is it and why does it happen?

- A total solar eclipse will dazzle people across North America in what's been described as "our planet's greatest spectacle".
The perfect alignment of Earth, the sun and the moon, which is due to be seen on 8 April, will plunge much of the continent into darkness.
But people in parts of the UK will be able to see a partial eclipse too.
Sky's Thomas Moore looks at the path of the phenomena, its timeline and explains why it occurs.

A UK channel that doesn't bother to show how close (or not) the path is to UK?? Talking as if we're in the USA?? Utterly crass.
It shows the path of the total eclipse at 0:43. We here in the USA are watching this video. Thirty-to-forty million people live in the path of totality. Millions of tourists from around the world have been coming. Airbnb bookings have almost totally sold out from Texas to New England. Uber has reported a 300% increase on pre-booked rides.

There won’t be a total eclipse in London until June 2151, the last one was in May 1715 so not in our lifetime!!!! But hey maybe we should tell our grandchildren so they tell their grandchildren to look out for the path of totality in London and have a great experience in June 2151 lol!!!
