  • How cool was that? The April 8 total solar eclipse -- a moment we've been waiting years to experience -- put multiple Northeast Ohio locations like Cleveland and Akron in the path of totality.
And we were here to share the historic day with you with live streaming coverage inside this story!
    TOTALITY
During our 3News special "Total Eclipse of the Park," we had live coverage from several spots around Cleveland as the city went into totality at approximately 3:15 p.m. At the Great Lakes Science Center, Russ Mitchell and Betsy Kling were joined by Dr. Jimmy Kenyon, director of Cleveland's NASA Glenn Research Center.

Had totality in Lewis Center, Ohio for just over a minute. We travelled to the one 7 years ago but only got into a 95% zone. There is no comparison. If you don't experience totality you cannot understand. One of the most incredible things I've experienced in my 60 years.

My round trip drive (Laurel, Md to Indianapolis & back) was just about 3 times yours, and it was STILL worth it!! This was my 3rd totality, and it just doesn't get old or the least bit routine.
The forecast for Indy was pretty bad, but what were predicted to look like cloud cover, turned out to be just a thin haze that didn't interfere at all with the experience.
I think if we'd had a totally clear sky, the only real difference would have been seeing a couple more of the planets.

We had totality here in Leamington, Ontario - right across the lake from you guys. I've never seen anything like it. But somehow, in all the excitement, I can barely remember what it looked like! I don't even know how that could happen... I think it seemed so unreal that my mind wasn't sure if I should commit it to memory...? For hours later, I was asking my friends if it even happened, or if it was all a dream!
I was in a major viewing area with thousands of people, and the energy was absolutely incredible. I remember looking around and realizing that there was a ring of sunset all around us, while the land around us was shimmering from all of the streetlights in the town coming on at once. And I know I was looking at it, but I remember more of how I felt than what I saw. I know I looked at it for a bit longer at the end, and that's the one visual I could see clearly in my mind. Specifically the right side of it, where I could see these incredible, vivid red flares, and these extra sparkles of light around the rim. I remember hearing about "Bailey's Beads" and immediately knew that it was what I was seeing. And I have this final, vivid memory of the "diamond ring" coming back, and how everything around us lit up like a sunrise on all sides.
Anyway, I'm so glad that people took such amazing videos of this - it's really helping to jog my memory. I think some part of me truly thought that it wasn't real... it feels like a beautiful dream that I can barely remember.

We clearly saw two mass corona ejection during the last minute, bright red/orange lines and dots with our own eyes, a real icing on the cake from everything else. The quietness, the darkness, the sudden coldness, a black sun surrounded by a white ring and haze, the yellow horizon. Drove 1h30 min to gain a good minute and a half of totality was so worth it. I’m 22 years old and have wanted to see a total eclipse since I was that crazy space kid at age 7 and it finally happened. Words cannot describe how otherworldly and breath taking it is. The total realization how small and meaningless we are in our vast universe. I shouted (along with others whos noises echoed through the neighborhood) and then cried with joy .
If you have a deep connection to space or nature as a whole please try to see it. The whole short experience is unforgettable.

We are so small, and get YAHWEH God the Creator cares about us! 🥹 it’s unbelievable honestly. Here’s a Psalm about how He made the sun.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, And night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, Where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.”

@@joshuamulligan4155 well the whole solar system expanding thing is just a lie that makes us seem so small and insignificant, so why would there be a Creator who loves us and cares for us?
Satan has deceived the nations into thinking there is no God.
Yahweh is the Creator of all things. He loves us enough to die for us to reverse the curse of sin and death. Repenting of our son that separated us from a Holy God, and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and you can have eternal life.

This was so amazing. I live in New Hampshire and whatever my wildest expectations, they were exceeded. I was so in awe that even from 50% onward my mouth hung open in awe with a huge grin on my face (I even drooled during the eclipse, normally I would have freaked out about since that's very unladylike, but this time I didn't care, I was too overwhelmed with emotion to be grossed out, so I just let myself feel all the tidal wave of emotions). Also during the lead up to totality I had to keep yelling at my younger brother "Don't look at the sun! Don't look at the sun!" and kept telling him put his eclipse glasses on if he wants to look. Then totality arrived and I said "okay, you can look" and just seeing this indescribable sight. What does your specific religion that has zero factual evidence regarding an eclipse. Stay on make believe land, we don’t need people like you spitting nonsense and propaganda. Do you know what the definition of faith is? A belief in the absence of evidence. You drink water because your eyes tell you it’s evidence of a crucial lifeline you need to survive. Evidence we have EKGs and can prove it. I hear this all the time and it’s annoying because you’re misleading people. I see natural disasters, I see children who have fallen deeply ill and do not make it. So either your god is not all powerful….or not all good….. let that just sink in for a second and when you want to step into a real man’s conversation we can.

I saw the total eclipse in Kent, Ohio, yesterday and it’s remarkable how much light and warmth the sun gives off even with only a tiny fraction of light reaching us. Seconds before totality the whole atmosphere became magical and at totality I took my glasses off and the corona around the moon was just breathtaking.

Yes, all glory to YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST!!
The greatness of God speaks to His absolute rule over all things. His endless resources. His unimaginable power to do as He pleases and for whomever He pleases. He is King of all, even of those who would deny (v. 4) the One who upholds the universe with the word of His power (Heb 1:3).
