The "BIG" Black cartridge must contain PIGMENT-type ink and the little black cartridge DYE-type ink. You used the same bottle for black. If the bottle contain DYE type there will be no problem but the black text will not be very crisp. But If in the bottle was PIGMENT type and you try to print to photo paper black will disperse in the rest of the colors and the quality is fucked up. To obtain the DYE type black (for the CLI-BK) you have to mix C, Y and M in equal proportions and fill the resulting ink into CLI-BK. If you represent a company that sell the inks you should know that there are two types of black ink.
I use compatible inks on my Pixma ip 4600. A professional printer told me to change the compatible BLACK ink for genuine CANON ink. WOW, what a difference!

How did you bypass the chip restriction in the original cartridges while refilling them?
