  • When you reset a CANON Cart using one of the many resetters currently available you need to make sure of this one thing!
    First of all, if it is a battery powered one, make ABOSOLUTELY SURE you have a fresh brand new battery in it!
    OR use one of the newer USB powered resetters.
    WHY?
    Because you MUST have a constant supply of the proper voltage level during the CHIP over writing of the code.
    Any problems during this process and your chip will be rendered unusable!
    With CANON CHIPS you must follow a specific process indicated in this video.
    Follow the advice given here and you will always be assured of a chip that will continue to properly reset and will provide you with reliable service for many resetting cycles!
    Follow these steps and this process and you will not fail at modifying not only your CLI-42 cart, but just about any other CANON Sponge based ink resettable cart!
    Once you master this, you will be on the road to saving hundred of dollars ink costs! No more worries about ink costs and PRINTING!!!

    Did you tested autoreset chips available on ebay and aliexpress? Apparently they reset ink level to full every time you remove and insert cartridge into that printer (probably on power loss also ?).

    Hi Jose, thanks a lot for your videos, they're really helpful and I'm so grateful. I've got a whole set of empty OEM cartridge and a USB resetter. For most cartridges, I had no issue, red light/pause/steady red light, and I was able to refill them. However, there are 2 problematic cartridges, the steady red light just won't show, only the short one and then nothing... I don't know what that means. The resetter seems to be working fine for the other cartridges. Is the cartridges chips corrupted ? Is there something I can do ? Thanks for your help. :)

    • @cheo1949

      It simply means the chip is not good. It's not a 100% guaranteed process. There could be failures.

    I am now wondering if my chips are reset correctly because I didn't wait for the solid light to go out. When the solid light came on I removed the cart. I saw this in another video. This video shows waiting until solid light goes out before removing.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  8 лет назад

      Though it is always best to allow the red steady light to go out before you remove the cart from the resetter, the code is being written during the period before the read light goes steady. At the point the light goes steady the code has been written. So it will be fine. But from now on wait till it goes out to make 100%.

    • @cheo1949

      Yes. That's the idea. Don't throw out those CLI-42s and remember reseters are specific to each model cart chip. You can obtain it from precisioncolors.

      Yes you need a reseter for CLI_42 Carts. It will reset all of the 8 chips included in a CLI-42 cart set. It will not reset OTHER CANON model carts. ONLY CLI-42.

    Hi jo sadly my husband died recently and I'm really not sure if he would have already reset the chips on my 2nd set of cartridges, as I now need to replace one, is it safe to reset a cartridge if it looks like there is ink already to go, for example I think when one was empty he would replace the empty one and immediately fill the empty one storing it for when needed again?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  3 года назад

      I am so sorry to hear about your husband's passing. Normally assuming we are talking about a printer like the PRO100 , you always reset before refilling so you don't have ink leaking all over the place. Resetting after refilling is difficult and messy. I would install the filled one and see what the driver reports as far as ink levels.

      What printer's cart chips are you trying to reset? If it's Canon and it's the red one from Redsetter? It uses USB for power. There is no green light. If it's an EPSON chip resetter they use internal flat round batteries and they need to be periodically replaced.

    Hi, Jose...
    I'm new to this process but I just received my new PC refill kit and I have a question on the yellow change...
    Hate to pester you...I could ask on the live forum on Saturday but I wanted to try here first...I have combed through and watched many, MANY of your videos but have not seen one where you do the following...
    I believe I understand the process...However, I am unclear on the chip change process...
    I don't want to break the new CLI 8 that was provided...
    Could you maybe do a small video on getting the old chip off and the new one on..?
    Just a thought...
    Many thanks for your priceless tutorials...

      There is not easy method. Shave off the welded posts on the carts and swap the chips. I recommed adhering the OEM chip with a bit of silicone caulk or even rubber cement. It's not dissimilar to how you do it on PGI29 CARTS. I have videos on that. So does precisioncolors.

    This is why you see so many printers at thrift stores. If ppl buy a cheap printer, it's easier to buy another one than to keep buying cartridges. It's all a scam by the manufacturers, folks.
