Honestly I had the opposite opinion when I played through this. The only time you hear about Eliza is through Travis describing what Kaylee said about the side show. She was 16 when she and her brother convinced themselves they needed to save Silas and set a fire to do so. But why? Silas probably knew what he was, didn't want to hurt others and probably understood enough that the cage was a safe place for him (shown by the fact that he defaults to go there when he is injured.) Besides that how would Kaylee, a 16 year old, be able to take care of a child (10ish) who she impulsively thought was not okay. They also never say if Silas was even in destress in the cage, Kaylee was just forcing the idea Eliza was a witch to justify trying to help him. I agree that Eliza was manipulative but not terrible, I think it was more along the lines of obsessive protection where only SHE can take care of him, SHE is the one who can truly love him even though he's a beast, and SHE is the only one who can help control him so he doesn't hurt others. Even throughout the game she's vindictive to the Hackett's but at all points doesn't want Silas hurt at any point and gets pissed if you do anything to him.

A large part of that is probably linked to the characters being far less developed than in Until Dawn. In UD, almost every one of the main characters is well-developed to the point that you care about them. The Quarry simply had waaaaay too many characters with determinate fates, NPCs included, and it felt like it was focusing more on having a wider array of different endings than a stronger story, so it didn’t focus on anyone other than the core cast.

Well either way Eliza will always be dead and a terrible "Mother"

my first play-though of this, i accidentally killed her with the spear because i was too busy crying over the fact i killed ryan like an idiot… good times
Honestly I was pretty confused and thought that she didn't actually die when you dodge the spear, since it doesn't show her dying. Not dodging it makes more sense with the canon, but why wouldn't you dodge it?? I thought that she like, wasn't a ghost and survived, they should've maybe shown her dying in another explosion or somethng to make it clearer if she actually was canonically supposed to die.
Yeah but that's exactly what happens if you dodge the spear though. There is a second explosion at the end of the scene, and here she just stands to it, as she is basically dying from the spear, but if you dodge the spear, she walks right into the explosion. So either way she dies here
Um. You literally just described what happens whilst saying that you wish it's what happens lol. Cannonically she dodges the spear sees that silas isn't dead and that it's the sheriff then she smears blood on her face and goes walking towards the woods but dies in the explosion becoming the vengeful spirit aka "the hag of hacketts quarry"
@@thepurplepotato6955 i think what he's trying to say is that when she dies to the explosion it isn't clear enough. It looks like she was just walking away and didn't die. She canonicaly does die but it seems as though she survived if you dodged the spear.
The spear got her low enough for her to still have some mobility in her neck and upper body. Also the spear was long enough where it pinned into the ground so it kept her standing up
I think eliza that you meet through the game is not the same eliza. Because eliza is dead in the fire also. That's why there story about witch of the haqqet quarry looking for his son. And there rumor about some curse that witch implies on the area because her son get burned to death in fire. And eliza that you meet through the game is just eliza spirit. Because when you kill sylas in the last chapter eliza would haunt you everywhere.
You can still move while impaled. It just hurts like a B. You're actually more likely to die if you remove the object. I've seen cases where people jackknifed and hit a tree and the only thing holding them together is the truck against the tree. They can talk and see their loved ones and are in shock so they don't really feel the pain, but when they move the truck, the "seal" is broken and they bleed to death in microseconds.
I just finished my first playthrough and I purposely didn’t dodge the spear because I mean yk, we were talking to her with the tarot cards so I expected her to just step out of the way with plot armor or something.
the only thing i gotta say is that how is the spear supporting her weight? like even if the spear is right on the ground and unless its like a feet deep then it will just topple over, well tell me if you see the spear is underground or just touching the ground
I guess it's just for dramatic effect. The death does look more horrifying as she stays into frame, being held up by the same thing that just killed her. But it would make logical scene for her to fall over after being speared.
Does not dodging the spear change the dialog later in the game? If you dodge the spear she walks in the wall of flames and Sherriff Hackett says, "She burned to death." Does that like change to she was impaled or does it remain the same?

@@chickenstrips8157 Yeah how do they expect me to feel anything about Caleb dying if I had no scenes with him? I think it would've been cool to add some scenes of the werewolves where their human selves were trying desperately to push through the surface. Like imagine Werewold chris saying to Ryan "I'm... Sorry..." before potentially killing him? Idk something with more interaction all around
@@ShiniRyuga they made this game during the pandemic for the last four years. So 🤷♀️
Oh, how interesting.... my 1st and only playthrough was Couch Co-op, and so, little tidbit, nobody controls Eliza at this part... so honestly, my friends and I kinda wondered why it played out in slow-motion like a QTE.... we just thought for dramatic effect... but I guess it all makes sense if you only play 1-player..... but yea.. couch co-op mode was so fun!!!
So not dodging it is actually the canon thing to do.
There is no canon in the game
@@ericbabcock3206 I'm sure what he meant was that Eliza can die without the game classify it as a game over
if you dodge it you will only realize the dead body is the sheriff and not silas
@@devseiya We already can figure that out through conversations in the game between the Hackett family where the matriarch of the family tells Travis the only reason he's sheriff is because Hank died in the fire.
@@mickidoesmedia No, when Eliza scene start she looks at the fire, then start crying. And then the game gave us control for the camera to look around, lo and behold its a dead body and the game is not immediately confirming if that corpse is Hank or Silas unless you dodge the spear. Cause when she dodge it, she gets closer to the body and touch the burnt sheriff badge confirming that this body is not Silas, but sheriff Hank instead. Well either way Eliza will always be dead and a terrible "Mother"
To think all of this could have been avoided if a girl could actually see. Because what was she thinking when she saw a werewolf and was like "Hey let's release it"
Pretty sure she released him while he still looked human, then he changed shorty after during the escape.
Beat the game and everyone survived the night , also put down every hackett but never encountered this scene . Cool game !
my first play-though of this, i accidentally killed her with the spear because i was too busy crying over the fact i killed ryan like an idiot… good times

@@Logic_Inaccurate it was definitely not my finest moment
@@vic5176 I cant blame you I missed my shot and Caleb and killed Dylan at the lodge 🗿
Cannonically she dodges the spear sees that silas isn't dead and that it's the sheriff then she smears blood on her face and goes walking towards the woods but dies in the explosion becoming the vengeful spirit aka "the hag of hacketts quarry"
it's your choice what's cannon... that's kind of the point bro 😅
So exactly the scene that happens if you DO dodge the spear?
@@thepurplepotato6955 i think what he's trying to say is that when she dies to the explosion it isn't clear enough. It looks like she was just walking away and didn't die. She canonicaly does die but it seems as though she survived if you dodged the spear.
Wait but... How does she slump forward when she's been impaled from the front and is leaning backwards??????
“i’ll just wait here” ay i don’t think you have much of a choice my boy
Should've ended with Chris waking up to the events being a bad dream
I have never seen that sequence, because in the gameplay I watched, the person didn't get to that scenario lol
I just finished my first playthrough and I purposely didn’t dodge the spear because I mean yk, we were talking to her with the tarot cards so I expected her to just step out of the way with plot armor or something.
they had me in the first half thinking Eliza was actually not the villain but turns out she was and just a crazy old woman
The background music sounds like a fire alarm, that's such a subtle touch
When I played this part it didnt even let me do the QTE she automatically dodged it, idk why.
the only thing i gotta say is that how is the spear supporting her weight? like even if the spear is right on the ground and unless its like a feet deep then it will just topple over, well tell me if you see the spear is underground or just touching the ground
I guess it's just for dramatic effect. The death does look more horrifying as she stays into frame, being held up by the same thing that just killed her. But it would make logical scene for her to fall over after being speared.
This is a game bout werewolfs and you're complaing bout physics lol

Does not dodging the spear change the dialog later in the game? If you dodge the spear she walks in the wall of flames and Sherriff Hackett says, "She burned to death." Does that like change to she was impaled or does it remain the same?

AT LEAST MIKE HAD A RIFLE!, HE WAS KICKIN' ASS, ALL JACOB DID WAS FUCKIN GET STRANDED, TURN, OR FIND EMMA AND FUCKIN GET DUMPED ON!
edit: I agree with people who like until dawn more than this, the game was more scary and interesting, how many times do you get to see wendigos?!, How many, and we just see werewolves in a lot of games and movies ECT, Plus like I said for example with Jacob and Mike, I was hopping for Jacob to get a gun like Mike, but, it didn't go that way, Plus in until dawn, the characters were more kind then the ones in the quarry man, even if you chose the affectionate choices, (me being soft lmao), but yes I do agree that until dawn was the successor here, it's a masterpiece of a game, and it's unique and hella gory too, The quarry was alright but I felt it could be a bit more than what it is.

This is honestly so sad tho like she seems to love Silas but then kept him in a cage ? And how did the werewolf start with him ? Did she put a curse on him for entertainment or was there some other way he became the first ?
Not much is known, perhaps he was kept in cage on fullmoons? Remember that werewolf kills anyone even family while not realizing it. Chris was locked up in the attic bc he could slaughter his family. Eliza did the same locked up his son so he doesn’t slaughter anyone unwillingly.
Making money of it is a dick move though, but she needs to earn a living
@@artyie1172 yeah but at the same time I’ve watched it over and over and it never specifies if she ever let him out it was only said that she kept him in a cage and that was probably the reason kaylee wanted to let him out bc he never got to be out of the cage
It's weird bc she looks a lot like one of my relatives..
If she is the hag of hacketts quarry then she is probably dead and this is the canon choice.
She dies regardless

I feel so bad for a hag who used her clearly unwell and cursed son as a tourist attraction to be looked at and treated like a freak :c

Don't. If there's someone we should feel bad for is Silas. That poor kid was kept in a cage by his mom. Not just that, but he also got cursed and he turns into a werewolf every full moon, so we have no choice but to kill him if we really want to save everyone.
@@ilovem1na I mean by keeping him in the cage no one gets infected and turned into a rampaging monster lol she was actually doing the world a service

I think you needed to find a card, cause I watched Berleezy and Britani play this and they got this scene. When she picks up the card, she freaks out asking “where did you find this”, etc. then it cuts to this flashback of the place burning when her little orb on the table turns all black. what? she never put a curse on the hacketts lol. Her son inflicted the werewolf curse on them but she never inflicted any currse
