Thanks Rob. 5 years on, you're excellent video is still helping people like myself. Great demo video and easy to follow instructions too. Many thanks. 👍👍👍🍺
Your an absolute legend. Me and my wife were stranded in Scotland after driving up for southern England and the fuel pump packed up. Thanks to your video, you saved our bacon. Thanks very much
I know this is an old video - but 4:33. on my Megan the green clip is as seen in the video but the white clip is totally different any idea how to work out how to remove it? cheers. - solved for anyone who sees this. The valve was turned around and I needed to take the headlamp out to be able to see the white tab.

I havent find a Workaround now but i saw you pumping the bag and i trying it at my megane. After that i saw air inside tubing. No i have to find the leak. Greetins from germany an ty
Hi, your video is really good and all the steps are explained in detail! I have megane 2014. with 1.6 dci engine and on this engine there is no hand pump, is the process the same on this engine?
When I look at the black fuel pump where you bleed the diesel into the lines it's all squeezed in I popped it back out but when I start the car up it all squeezed in again. Just wanted to know if its supposed stay hard? And would that make the stop light come on and say you have a injector fault. Hope you can get back to me soon thank you so much
Hi . would you happen to know about a fault code df004 on a renault megane 2008 m/y stop switch circuit would that be the brake light or the actual stop button i have no idea have you ever came across this before ? many thanks
Great video Rob! Thanks to this, I'll have a crack at changing the fuel filter myself this weekend. I'm having some issues with 'Check Injection System' like many others in the comments. I've been recommended to use Liqui Moly Diesel Purge and I've seen different ways to use it. Any thoughts on how to use Liqui Moly most effectively to clean Injectors? I read that you can dip the 'inlet' and 'outlet' pipes you've shown above the fuel filter into the Liqui Moly itself and run it through... or am I being daft? Thanks!!
Excellent video Rob. Very useful. I'm going to change mine tomorrow as I'm having to prime my engine everytime to to start it,but once it's running it drives perfectly, but the minute you turn the engine off you have to prime it again to start it,so I'm hoping it's just the old fuel filter badly clogged or an air lock somewhere in the clear diesel lines.Any ideas?
Actually, the reason the engine stalled in this video was probably because the low pressure (LP) fuel line wasn't bled out, it was still full of air which had only been merely compressed by operating the bulb pump. You could see the top loop of LP tube was still full of air. As the HP fuel pump relies totally on the diesel oil for lubrication, and operates at extremely high pressure ( once primed), it's very bad for them to be spun over dry. What you should do to actually 'bleed' the air out is pretty similar to brake bleeding; just press the little bleed valve on the top of the LP tube inlet banjo on the HP pump, whilst operating the bulb pump until the tube is full of fuel with no or only tiny bubbles. It's worth making up a plastic bleed tube approx 11mm ID, with a pin pressed through it across the centre approx 8mm from the end, to operate the bleed valve so you can direct the waste diesel into a bucket, rather than all over the engine. You may have to pump quite firmly because the bleed nipple isn't at the highest point, so you need enough flow to chase the air downwards out of that top loop of LP tube. But for your particular problem, it's possible the bleed nipple is leaking air inwards such that when you turn the engine off and the fuel tries to drain down to the lowest point, air is sneaking in through the bleed nipple, but which seals OK under under positive pressure. If you do the bleeding through the nipple, and operate the nipple a few extra times to excercise it, hopefully it will clean itself and seal OK. Also check it's got positive spring closing pressure, when not pressurized. just like a tyre valve. Hope this helps. Good luck. Allan.
@@The007Weasel Thanks Alan for all your help, did exactly what you said.Discovered the bleed pump ball was split on the one end thus sucking in air as you described.replaced with new bleed pump and problem now solved.Thank you so much for your knowledge.
Hi there, loved the vid very informative, I got a question for you if that's ok, my megane is hunting at idle intermittantly and I'm seeing bubbles in the fuel line situated after the primer bulb intermittently. I have had injectors cleaned and bench tested and all were ok, I've changed the egr valve, ran diesel cleaner, scanned ecu and no codes, changed glow plugs, although one thing i did change was the diesel filter but I'm thinking if they didn't change the seals and just dumped the filter in, is air bubbles intermittently in the pipe normal and can it be from the fuel filter and can air in fuel cause hunting at idle? Otherwise car drives perfectly fine when I'm driving its just idling I'm having issues with. Thanks really need ur help as I'm in so mucb agony with my Renault.😊😭
Great tip...been having issues with anti pollution and check injection system warnings...after using scanning tool with the usual MAF sensor code wanted to go back to basics and was hunting around for filter and bingo your video...have you ever changed a turbo on one of these..a lot of people are saying it's an engine out job...👍👍
@@OneAuto many thanks...I find it strange on all the forums I can't find anyone who has personally changed one....mate of mine has the megane 1.5 sports tourer and the turbo shit itself and he was charged £2500 at mate's rates to fit a new turbo due to having to remove sub frame and engine...There is more than a smear of oil in the turbo outlet to intercooler and it may well be on its way out..whilst I don't have a problem removing the engine on my drive I think I will have to suck it and see and try and get it off and see how it goes...👍👍

@@rustybaws5313 Hi David...Changing the filter definitely sorted out check injection waring light.... judging by the condition of the filter I don't think it ever has been changed... but anti pollution light was still on...after repeatedly re setting it for about a week and keeping the revs up in 4th or 5th gear on dual carriageways it finally didn't come back on again...fingers crossed it's been off about two weeks now...it's the wife's car and does a lot of stop/start local runs...👍👍

Hi. My mk3 is 2012 and 1.5dci with 90hp. Is the filter the same like on this model or ... ? Thanks for the video.
I wonder if its the same for the 1.9dci. Hope theres the same amount of room… Atleast with oil filter there was considerably less room on the 1.9 versus the 1.5.
Thank you for doing this video. I've been told it was in the wheel arch and that it was a awful job but looks easy, sadly I won't be on a ramp just on the floor with axle stands.
I have changed my filter and using primer bulb but engine still won’t start. Is there an easy way to bleed the air out the engine or will I need to crack the injectors
Good video, so now I want to change mine. Which one do I buy? Is there any way of knowing if the connection is for a water sensor or one without the connection without taking the wheel & lining off?
It’s the same filter, just screw in the drain and or sensor from your old filter. Your local motor factor will fix you up with the right filter from the cars reg number
Don't worry about the bubbles. When I changed mine for 4 years ago I was scared about the bubbles too. But it still works great with some bubbles. Regards
hi Rob, I have a 2010 1.5DCi Scenic. My fuel pipes seem to have black squared plastic on the ends of the pipes. It looks like there is green and white underneath these squares. How do I get to the connections to release them? Thanks Shaun

So much easier when you have a priming bulb. But I must add, changing the filter is so much easier on the vectra than that Megane. The location on that Megane is pritty stupid.

Isn't the bottom plug to drain the filter from water? According to the manual you should do it every 2nd year unless the filter is EoL.
