Break Dancing was created in NYC in the Subway they would put cardboard down mainly on 42nd Street in the subway and do breakdancing

They wanted to take out wrestling and weightlifting which have both been around for thousands of years to display feats of strength. Wrestling was even in the ancient Olympic Games. Lol
That was over issues with the federations that oversee those sports.
Anyone can wrestle or lift weights, it takes real skill to have moves like these
