It would be like a country sending someone to compete in the butterfly(swimming) who doesn’t really know how to swim and they end up doggy paddling across just to say they competed in the Olympic’s.
Given the disaster of a performance she gave, the leftist Aus government is unwilling to bribe the Olympics committee again for including that event. That's why there won't be breakdancing in future Olympic games.
worst part about this is that many people have now seen raygun but have not seen how crazy, legit, athletic, and creative the actual serious competitors were
oesn't mater. This is an art, not an athletic sport. Should not be in the Olympics. I understand the top of the top break-dancers are well versed in the craft, but its an art form that is much harder to score compared to javelin throw, "still rings", or straight up rugby or Basketball. It is very hard to do, but not an international sport that should be in the Olympics which is why it's getting clowned on. Anthony Ammirati is a good example of a serious sport that got memed aggressively during this Olympics but his sport is still taken seriously.
@@dillonhedgpeth9974 I think it can be considered athletic because you need strength, endurance, consistency and many other things just like any other sport. Furthermore, its roots come from athletes and gymnasts who could not pay a workout in the gym and they had to do it on the street.
@@dillonhedgpeth9974 It's hard to score, but you can make the same argument for gymnastics or its other variations. You fail to recognize that breaking has been judged for decades. Judging art is a much bigger intellectual endevour than other activities that require simple scoring so the confusion is warranted. Lets use common sense, some pieces of art are better than others. What happens when the your piece is a response to an opponent and it is a lot better in certain criteria. You judge. Breaking is highly competitive, and has been judged for decades. You make it sound like the Olympics invented all this. Breaking thrives with or without the olympics, there are bigger competitions and the talent pool has grown worldwide. Also SHE got memed, the winners were well received by their countries. Some people hate because its easier to remain ignorant than to learn something that breaks off their preconceived ideas of what is a sport and what is athletic. But Breaking continues to grow and remain strong.
The good part is i didnt even know breakdancing was on the olympics and i may check out how some of the masters at their craft perform for a mainstream audience
@Dario__ I actually checked out the gold medal match - Phil Wizard (Canada) vs Dany Dann (France) - after watching this video and it was *amazing*. I really know nothing about breakdancing at all, but these performances were captivating to watch and displayed powerful athleticism. Also, the guys showed a lot of respect for each other. It was really wholesome in that way. I hope that breakdancing remains in the Olympics.
you can see that he's not even trying on the demonstration, if others would see him truly breakdance and release his inner demons, they would lose all motivation to keep going. What a humble man
That's why those cowards were too afraid to cast him as Katniss and had to give him a supporting role in Mockingjay. The world was not ready for him to break it down on the big screen.
The fact there’s so many actual people know how to breakdance either didn’t want to go weren’t invited or didn’t know how to compete because there’s like a million videos of people that are good

As an Australian that watched the idol raygun. Your rendition was respectful and quintessential with purpose. A complete and full emulation of the choreograph that she originally did. Thank you for your breakdown as an artist that the mainstream failed to represent
She created the Australian committee to select a break dancer that would represent Australia… AND THEN got her husband to be one of the judges in her Olympic qualification match. Figures that she ended up being the winner 🙄. She stole an opportunity from someone far more deserving only to make herself look like the fraud she is.
If anyone couldn't watch, there are like 20 judges and your color flashes across the screen if they vote for you. Usually it's like a checkerboard of blue and red votes. For her, the entire screen was a line of red (other girl's color) and then with this humiliating screen of red she had to do another round (she didn't gaf). Then switches opponents, all red. Third opponent, all red.
Good. It looked like a middle aged person saw one break dancing video and then tried to imitate it. That's fine for joking around but not the Olympics.

Every time Charlie says “I’m sure all of you already know this” I feel just a little bit more clueless

As an Aussie and hearing this shocked me, SHE HAS A PHD IN BREAKDANCING ??
Yeah! Did you read her paper? Her routine almost makes you think she did this on purpose to ensure it wouldn’t come back next Olympics.
yeah she’s a PhD… a pretty horrible dancer!!!
She is a Professor in Cultural Studies and Creative Industries but yes her PhD was in Breaking
@@cannedroob6237 To be fair she wasn't the only person to score Zero across the board
Hers is going to be remembered however
Given the disaster of a performance she gave, the leftist Aus government is unwilling to bribe the Olympics committee again for including that event. That's why there won't be breakdancing in future Olympic games.
thank you so much for recreating this
worst part about this is that many people have now seen raygun but have not seen how crazy, legit, athletic, and creative the actual serious competitors were
oesn't mater.

Well you don’t get paid at the Olympics, it’s just for the the fame. That’s why you don’t see world class football players at the Olympics even if they’re better at the game then the ones attending the Olympics.
@@Enzoxvx actually for football specifically it’s because there’s a rule restricting players over 23 to compete, so it doesn’t clash with the fifa world cup

As an Australian that watched the idol raygun. Your rendition was respectful and quintessential with purpose. A complete and full emulation of the choreograph that she originally did. Thank you for your breakdown as an artist that the mainstream failed to represent

Never seen an olympic performance so unbearable to watch. It's like somebodies geriatric Aunt when she finds a tik-tok dance and tries to explain it to the kids by showing a few moves.

This reinactment is better than the actual routine.
It was less of a breakdancing routine and more like an Australian themed seizure.

Reminded me of a middle aged woman drunken dancing at a wedding party.
It was certainly Aussie themed, there was a kangaroo pose and she's flopping on the ground like a shrimp on a barbie.

2) A potential competitor at the bowling championship
3) A potential competitor for the 2024 Olympics Paris Breakdancing
