    LYRICS
You know sometimes I can't get to sleep at night
I can't quiet my heart or my mind
I toss and turn, I ache and burn
I get caught in the passing of time
It's like too many miles, too many heartaches
Too much that needs to be done
Yes and too many sidewalks, too many people
    Too many hours done
    What's on your mind
    What's on my mind
    Is really quite the same
    I've been working so hard
    And I'm ready to play
I know just the right game
    What's on your mind
    Is what's on my mind
That's the way it's gonna be
I'm gonna find me a place I can hide
I want you right next to me
On I've never seen a more beautiful day
It's my favourite time of year
The colours are changing, she's rearranging
And I'm so glad to be here
I've been up and around, I've been lost, I've been found
I've seen love face to face in my dreams
And the things that I know and the things that I show
Are not always just what they seem
    What's on your mind
    Is what's on my mind
    It's just that way
    It's like catching a ride
    On a beautiful river
Let it carry us all away
    What's on your mind
    And what's on my mind
    Is really nothing new
I want to get you alone
I want to make you my own
Baby, I want to make love with you
    What's on your mind
    And what's on my mind
    Is really quite the same
    I've been working so hard
    And I'm ready to play
Baby, I know just the right game
    What's on your mind
    And what's on my mind
    Is really nothing new
I want to get you alone
I want to make you my own
Baby, I want to make love with you

That was from the Barry Manilow Special and it was really good. I think it’s from the 3rd special Barry had. They also do multiple duets from the Everly Brothers too.. it was a lot of fun to watch!!!!

Not all his love songs were about Annie. She didn't support him on the road and he found other ladies who were happy to do so. His autobiography let us know there were others. It's probably how well he was beloved by them that they will take their secrets to their grave 🥰

However this was 1979 and he and Annie were doing a lot better I believe.

I thought Seasons of the Heart was written in 1979. He went to China by himself mid-year around the time of their wedding anniversary, and they spoke on the phone. He wrote Shanghai Breezes about it. He did say they would come together and drift apart💕

Seasons of the heart was a brand new song he released in 1982 ( He mentions it at his 1982 concerts in London). The year that Annie asked for a divorce. He mentions it in his book about how he came home after singing it and she asked whether it was him breaking up with her. All so sad in hindsight - I think had they had more time to mature together in the early days things might have been different.
