I've listened to this song for about 7 years now and every single time, something about it just puts me in the verge of tears. Reading these comments 7 years later pushed me overboard. Texas forever.
This song reminds me of high school, riding home in the back seat from a friday night afterparty to a football game. Those were good nights, knowing the glory days wouldn't last forever. ...I miss being 17.
I was born in Texas, I've lived in California and Colorado. I've lived in London, UK for 15 years. Sometimes this song comes on on my iPhone on a busy day in traffic or on the tube and I just need to pause, reflect and breathe. It reminds me of the one thing I know is real. Texas Forever.
I was born in Texas also, a year in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan and moved to Colorado for work and currently in Missouri. Haven't listened to this in years but i think i might move back, Texas Forever
I listened to this in Tulsa, Oklahoma after I took an extremely important professional job in Big Spring, Texas. I was on my way there. Lifeless. Dead. Hopeless. That is west Texas. The wasteland that gives hope to only those willing to go through absolute hell to achieve it.
West Texas is stunningly beautiful, I can remember taking road trips along I-10 headed towards San Antonio and the sunsets I saw were just incredible, I haven’t spent a lot of time in that region of the state, but from what I hear it’s full of determined, hardworking, kind, friendly folk. God Bless Texas
Every time I listen to this I get a sad longing for younger days, but I guess that's what is so beautiful about this song - and about life: They move by you so quickly and leave you in awe.
I have a very good memory of listening to this and being sat at the top of a hill and watching the sunrise after being out all night with some friends. Golden times.
a nine hour drive from the distractions of civilized sounds. west. the Chisos, the Guadalupe mountains, the serenity and awe of the desert. I've never seen stars so bright and numerous; I miss it so.
Texas is a beautiful state. Been there a bunch of times. Heading over there in car in the next few weeks for family situations. I love Texas. It’s a beautiful place to visit. If you have the chance to go, definitely go. You won’t regret it.
Love me some West Texas. I grew up on a ranch outside of Fort Stockton. The greatest people on earth populate that area. I've lived all over the US and worked around the world. No place on earth compares and this music captures the spirit of West Texas perfectly. Love me some Friday Night Lights!
I went to Clemson soccer academy back back....im from Wisconsin, befriended a kid from West Texas. I was making fun of him, telling him wrong sport he always replied how do You play in the snow Eskimo. We were friends by end of camp. Good guy down to earth
Lol at the people who thought this was about the Town of West. It's not it's about the Region in Texas. West Texas were i was born and raised Odessa, Midland, Crane, Gardendale all those places are in West Texas. I grew up in Odessa and I can tell you this song carries the feeling of living there. There is nothing, but when you look at the sunset I swear all those feelings go away and your in the place you outta be. It's crazy feeling.
Snow Anaya You know I think there is a lot of truth in what you said. I was born and raised in Houston but lived near Abilene for a year and West Texas is no doubt a very beautiful place. Given that these guys are from Texas and their song is titled west texas, im sure it is about the region and not the town but I had a different thought maybe you or other people can share with me. Though I haven't seen nearly a tenth this world has to offer I believe this song carries the feeling of human emotion, not a place in particular but a feeling this world can induce in us as humans. I think the feeling you feel can be felt anywhere and its a matter of spirituality not location. This is truly beautiful.
No place like Texas! I would drive around the whole state doing Tennis tournaments. Driving along the open fields watching the sun set is truly one of a kind. I think only people raised in Texas gets this feeling.
Every time I hear this song, I think about home. I lived in Texas for the best 9 years of my life. Hearing this song brings back memories of the warm humidity, wrapping it's arms around me on a warm summer evening as I ran through my small town, causing trouble with my two best friends. It's crazy how things change.
I agree, football was huge at my high school in NJ (state champs!), but I feel like it is 1000000000x bigger down in Texas. Wish I can experience that one day.
The movie Friday Night Lights meant so much to me... Quitting football after my sophomore year broke my heart, I'll never forget the memories though, especially after listening to these songs and watching that movie... Take's me back to a place where I find my serenity.
+Tony Romo Maybe so but when it involves your health you do what's best... Especially if the physical problems from back then have only gotten worse. Common sense...
mgh420clvndnmbr1 I totally agree with you man, I quit wrestling after my junior year because my body just couldn't take the immense weight cutting and eating 1 meal a day for 3 months straight. I had such a full heart in it all and I regret quitting because I put hours to end into bettering myself for those 6 minutes on the mat every few days. I know that isn't football but from one athlete to another I can feel exactly what you're feeling.
I know the feeling man. I played football as well, even acceped an offer to play close to home. But, during the last game in my senior year i dove for a fumble and got a few knees/kicks to the back of my head and neck and was told i could never play again. I always think of where i would be with football if it werent for that 1 play
This helps me to calm my anxiety down before start working, some nights are so hard, I start too late and finish too late... I wish I could fly to other city, so it would not be too stressfull
I was born in Cali. Moved to N Central Texas in the 70s. I didn't get the pep rallys, cheerleaders, cheer squad, crazed high school football fever. Now that being forever ago I don't think I would want to do it any different.
Trying to stop your addiction is one of the toughest job there is. As I lay in my bed accompany by suicidal thoughts in tears that float on the rims of my eyes like paper boat in a puddle right before capsize and trickle down then course in my mouth ripples. I am slowly dying from inside out , spiritually and physically. Just remember life is not measured by how many breath you take but rather how many moments take your breath away..
You shouldn't generalize about a place you've never been, or an experience you've never had. Every Friday night in my town in upstate New York, it felt like my entire town was there to watch the game. Cheerleaders, All the fans, parades before the game. The school band would preform at half time. Football was huge, as was hockey and basketball.
This song (and also the complete ost) is beautiful .I have been in Texas ( I live in Mexico) but I hate it ,because I have bad memories there(also beautiful) ,a broken heart, broken promises, broken love. The song is amazing, it is the way I feel when I remember Texas ,those moments are never coming back and my fear to return to Texas, because all the pain I have inside ,one part of me wants to never return there, the other part wants me to return and make possible my dreams there,my lost love ,be-reborn,buy a big house and live peacefully .This duality kills me I dont know if Im ever returning to Tx ,I dont know if she dreams the same very deep inside her,but I miss there and also her... Sometimes I just want to return back and change things, actions so this present isnt here and no matter how money I can make if I had the opportunity to go back I´d give any material thing and take the chance...
That’s not an oil rig, it’s a Pump Jack. The “oil rig”is what drilled the well then it moved off and after completions the Pump Jack is installed to pump the oil out.
I'm from New York, spent a year and a tear in Amarillo....just outside town, you know, to the the West. I've heard of "Big Sky" country. There are no pictures or description.....you have to see it for yourself.
I’m only 22 going on 23 but I miss the high school football days already too much. Just miss the way life was back then, not that it was easier but everything seemed like it was working the way it was supposed to. Now I just don’t know if I’m living my life right or if I’m supposed to be doing another path. Almost like there’s too many options to choose from sometimes that overwhelms you
I hope you have changed even more and more in a better way. Its been 8 years since your comment. I love you wherever you are. Take care and do good as the Bible says. Follow God and you will be pure. God bless
Your souls wants to go west, where the sun kisses you good bye. Maybe your soul wants to go west bc your soul understands that we are given 1 day maybe not even a full 1. So when that sun sets, you may never see it again. Thats why you live each day in a way like its your last.
Russell 周 well West Texas is divide into three parts, there is yankee Texas which is Lubbock and up north to Amarillo which composed the grasslands area known as the llano Estacado. There is the Permian basin which contain cities such as midland and Odessa. And finally there's far west Texas which is also known as the trans-pecos, west of the pecos river. The chihuahua desert is located there and at the end is El Paso the oldest settlement in Texas.
Question to any American.. is every Friday night like the way it happens in FNL? With the cheerleaders, all the fans and the seriousness? I'm British and I'm really curious!

Love what you commented on about Texas forever. This song now that I look back on my trip to Lubbock Texas y'all.reminds me of west Texas.
I was born in Texas also, a year in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan and moved to Colorado for work and currently in Missouri. Haven't listened to this in years but i think i might move back, Texas Forever
You never forgot where you came from! T

That is west Texas. The wasteland that gives hope to only those willing to go through absolute hell to achieve it.
I agree. I lived out there for 5 years before I proved myself to earn a promotion and a transfer.
Texas Forever

Hope even after the years have passed that everyone is doing well and thriving. 🤙🏼
I was born in Hereford, Texas. In 1988.
For some reason, this song always calms the part of me that remembers.
It's like a warm blanket.
Every time I listen to this I get a sad longing for younger days, but I guess that's what is so beautiful about this song - and about life: They move by you so quickly and leave you in awe.
Class of 2011... times moves by so fast. My hometown of waco tx is so small; but some how miss it.

This helps my anxiety so much, The amount of panic attacks this has reduced is amazing
I hope you get better.

I wasnthinking the exact same thing, it got me refocused.
