If you're intrested in other, similar - some more, some less-, bands, check out: A Silver Mt. Zion, God Speed You!Black Emperor, Ulver, Sleepmakeswaves, Russian Circles, Red Sparrowes, Maserati, Mutyumu, Maybeshewill, From Monument to Masses, Do Make Say Think, Caspian, Phideaux. There are many others also but these are among the finest out there, even though some are a bit different from your usual post-rock bands and don't necessarily qualify as such. Nontheless, they're worth a listen.
@CBurton well, you are right, i actually never heard anything that came before the dark side of the moon, only the albums that ame after, maybe i should listen to the older stuff
"Ulver is obviously not a black metal band and does not wish to be stigmatized as such. We acknowledge the relation of part I & III of the Trilogie to this culture, but stress that these endeavours were written as stepping stones rather than conclusions. If this discourages you in any way, please have the courtesy to refrain from voicing superficial remarks regarding our music and/or personae." Well, to be quite honest, I just thought I'd throw them out there anyway.
@afrokidguitarist First time I hear of that band. The picture is of a nebula-something, some kind of space phenomena. This was the first vid I made with movie maker (or with any program for that matter) which is why I used this low res pic, guess I was just too lazy to change it - the important thing was to get the music out.
@SOTDBLOG David Gilmour's Floyd, of course. Roger Waters could only do depressing stuff. Explosions can do both happy and dark, as could Gilmour. I wouldn't call them the new Pink Floyd. They're one of money bands that have carried, are carrying, and will carry the same torch that Floyd carried. They turn rock music into a higher form of art, possibly one of the highest forms of musical artistry out there. Floyd strove for that. As do many other artists.
@ TommyGun7111, dude don't limewire it. This band is too good to download. I own all of their CD's and didn't download one! I bought them to support the group and their amazing music. I mean, by all means go do it if you want, but do you want to support or get it for free, lol? I understand yeah it's free, but it's like $10, lo.
@10max1100 How do these exchanges even happen on here? But just to drop some knowledge... Nouns are capitAlized only if they are proper nouns ( A specific name or label). Pronouns are substitutions for nouns when the noun is understood. Hope this cleared everything up.
@thewriter1008 i honestly don't care much for pink floyd, only the other sife of the moon disc. i think that some of the stuff they do don't work for me
@MrMentllet Well, how about, every single album made before "The Dark Side Of The Moon"? I mean, did you hear Ummagumma or Atom Heart Mother, could you get any more complex than that? After 1979 no albums made by them really said Pink Floyd, but money making machines. :| sad how the 80's ruined a lot of the most promising prog bands.
@smellyniggy its just so melodramatic and over the top and insincere. if you were really sincerely pondering the meaninglessness of existence, and the beauty of absurdity, would you really be expressing that via such a vapid youtube comment? it just comes off as slimy to me. i didnt mean to jump down your throat though, sorry.
@smellyniggy in my mind such a personal and cerebral moment would be made less so by saying it in such a reductionist way, and on a medium as this inexpressive and dumb
nice song love the pic of the dead star looks kinda cool
thanks very much for the upload
@afrokidguitarist God i love their new record "exoplanet" Hands down one of the best metal records out there

I always skip to about 4:00. Seriously the best thing Ive ever heard.
I feel like this is the song that plays as you're born into the world, or leaving home for the first time as an adult.
