played ball in HS too.. but this song isn't about football. it's about leaving one journey and stepping into another world. we were all young .. young together.. and that time had to end. we will never be that person again. that's ok. remember those times and move on to what's next in life. there is a reason why the end is upbeat, while the beginning is somber. moving to a new phase in life can be scary and make you want to go back.. but you can't. life is about new challenges and the road ahead. the best moments in life are still waiting for us. nothing but love and respect brothers.
probably the most accurate explanation I've read about the ending of highschool. you know, when I graduated, the principal that was one of the toughest sons a bitches out there, cried. as he wept, he looked at all of us, and told us we were the greatest class he's seen. so great that he was quitting that night. and never returning because he wanted us to be his legacy. as he continued, he said "this is where you really begin growing. and you can never be the same. because you will never be with these great humans ever again." the flag in the back round was at half mass for some reason. one I wish I could remember. he walked off stage, and raised it. for us. fireworks ensued and we were told gongatulations by the best teaching staff there ever was. it was by far the most beautiful moment of my entire life. I guess I'm telling the world this because I'll never be able to thank them. I'll never see them again. not a single soul. because Mr. L. you were right. and you always were.. this song is so nostalgic to me because of that night. thank you. thank you. thank you. your guidance, understanding, and love; gave me the love of my life. it gave me incredible work ethic, and your incredible team of teachers, staff, and supervisors made me who I am today. I am a very loving, protective, strong, aspired man. And I owe my impact that I give to this world, to you. More specifically; Mr. lucatitch. Mr. huckelberry. Ms. kimsey. Mrs. parker. Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Udall. Mr. Rustad. and so many more.. thank you for giving a lost soul a beautiful chance in a beautiful world.
Every time I hear this song, I can almost smell the grass on a cold fall morning in Oregon. For anyone who's played and loved the game of football, "Home" strikes a cord in you.
not you bringing back the memories 😢 all the early morning practices with dew still on the grass, putting on the pads, getting warmed up at 7 am. absolutely nothing like it
I have the same feeling when listening to this song even though I'm not American and I spent my youth playing the kind of football where you actually play with your feet. That smell of grass is a familiar one.
All I ever wanted was my own family. Something you would think is so simple to obtain but, life is crazy ya know. Now I’m 39 in a great relationship but, she doesn’t want anymore kids. I can completely understand. Who wants to start over…? So, I’ll just accept my blessings as they come and remain thankful. Stay humble and continue this journey.
I guess the emotions from this song makes me think of relationships and how they mold us. Being on a team makes you realize how much trust you put into someone else to get the job done. In that light I find myself alone.
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever" - Lance Armstrong
I had a funny thing happen to me one day while riding my bike. A carload of high school girls rolled by and one leaned out a window and shouted, "Who do you think you are, Neil Armstrong?" I still think Lance got a raw deal.
My son played ice hockey for seven years. Some of the best times with him growing up watching him play. The friendships he made with the other kids as they defended each other in a very physical sport. Grade twelve at the end of the season he was picked with a bunch of his friends to play the scholarship tournament. The final game was in this old vintage rink out in Abbotsford. They won the tournament and then just like that it was all over. This song sums up the melancholy feeling I had driving home.... the strength of emotion surprised me.
I think the best thing as beeing parent or something like this ,is to to be involved in the life of whom we love this is for me the best history to tell.
@Jacob Perry why? Because it’s true? It reflects how people like you love to quit and blame others for it? It shows discipline when you want something that bad. It means you are willing to do what you hate, but do it like you love it.
Being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It's not about winning. It's about you and your relationship with yourself, your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didnt let them down because you told them the truth. And that truth is you did everything you could. There wasnt one more thing you could've done. Can you live in that moment as best you can, with clear eyes, and love in your heart, with joy in your heart? If you can do that gentleman - you're perfect!
It's really not though. The only personal experience in high school sports are your runs in the state playoffs and winning the state championship. More than half of the young student body of males won't ever know the feeling. Chances are every dude here could have 1 son per family that would play football and about 2/10 will know what it's like to watch their son in their last football game due to win it all or go home type situation. I didn't grow up with a high tec stadium or lights, lol my school kept it OG for 1-2 pm Saturday games and I graduated in the thick of turf fields and lights. Sorry but my state championship win in the Syracuse dome shits out a turd that gets eaten by a worm than that shits out a smaller turs which equals to your everyday Friday night lights experience. Dome + state championship = can you honestly match that? If you don't have the ring to show it than imo your career is bland. Hell even the folks who lost during their state championship games have better tales to tell.
@@americangangsterlock1550 damn dude, do you tell that story to every 20 something you try to fuck? Let me guess, you would have went pro too if you didn't tear your acl? You drive an 89 mustang and wear your letterman jacket to a "fancy dinner" at Applebees after a long week at the plant?
As a middle aged guy, I listen to this and I remember the film and I reflect on my military career post 911, and all the young guys i served with and the sense of purpose we all shared. I'm gonna add this to my running playlist.
Texas two a days in August, humid scorching air, dry fields, crunchy grass, pvc piped water trees. The whistle, the break clap of the huddle, the hustle, the development of character, the memories…
my dad is a football coach and has been coaching ever since i was a bby and longer! this song brings tears to my eyes every time! there is nothing like football season. the smell of the air, people cheering, whistles blowing and pure excitement in the air ; to me football isn't a sport its a way of life!
Hey Drew I know you never got a chance to play under Friday night lights but there's plenty of fields up there in Heaven with you. This song really made me think about you.. RIP
I'm a sophomore in highschool playing on varsity lacrosse team for the first year of my life in Boston. Last year everyone told me I sucked and I couldn't do it and that I would never be good enough to join a team of champions but I used their hate to turn it into aggression and I made one of the best lacrosse teams in the state with a group of brothers who I've learned to love and trust. This song really inspired me to strive for greatness #26
Football taught me hard-work. It allowed me to see beyond my limits and situation as a young man. You dont need to make it D-1 or to the NFL for the game to change your life. The greatest thing I ever did was not achieve my goals and dreams on the gridiron because it taught me a lot. I went through a break up with the game and wanted nothing to do with it for years and now as things began falling apart for me, the game has come back into my life essentially to save me again. What a blessing. I watched all the documentaries on my heroes as a kid . My eyes were glued to NFL networks “A football life”. Whats crazy about the game is it teaches us so much and prepares us for life. So for many of us, as we continue to write our story everyday don’t forget to stop and appreciate life a little bit. A football life 🏈
I'm a freshman and I worked hard to play varsity. My school hasn't been to the playoffs since 2008 and this year we made it and lost our first round. My coach told me not to cry cause I got 3 more years. But in the end I ended up crying. My brother was a senior and he lead me to success this year this was my first year starting. Because of him I live up to a legacy and that's him. I've been told I'm the future. My biggest dreams is winning state. My brother changed me a lot I stopped hanging around with bad people, I got better grades and played with heart. I owe it to him and for the next 3 years I will be alone. I don't need anybody to believe in me as long as I believe in my self I will be successful. But Football is my heart and this is what I love and I owe it to my Legacy and inspiration my brother. I love you and thank you. His number was 35 and I will be it. I will play for him and his brothers in football. I knew them and they considered me family. I love them too #35 forever
TheStreetbOY I am currently a junior in high school playing football for the Byrnes Rebels the best football team to ever play in the state of South Carolina 11 state championships and more to come but whatever you do out on that field just be great dawg be perfect keep grinding and you'll get that state ring in no time just keep pushing bro defeat isn't an option have that dawg in you that doesn't settle for anything less than victory keep grinding man get that ring ✊✊
This song makes me realize the beauty of simplicity. I don't need the fame, cars or money. I just need the work ethic the Lord has blessed me with to transcend in life. (for His Glory)
It doesn't suck if you played football and won state. You have the early spring to look forward to getting your fat ass rings awarded to you. The bond that you shared with those guys will live on forever. This goes for any sport really, sophomore year is when the fun begins. You get to be on top of all the JV squads and past school traditions to freshman.
Proud of my son that made starting varsity in his sophmore year! Just typing this makes me feel a knot in my throat. This friday they play a pretty tough rival. You can bet your last dime I'll be in the bleachers cheering on the team but mostly I'll be cheering on #65!
Graduated from high school 6 years and haven’t picked up a football since . Having a day remembering how great it was and what a child hood I had . I miss these days but we move forward onward to better things in life. This song will always remind me of being young. Stay young my friends 🤘🏼
To all the guys that are playing football in highschool from freshmans to seniors... Take advantage of the brotherhood... Play every play like it was your last.. There no other sport to build brotherhood than football and to the seniors that's getting ready to play their last upcoming season.. Enjoy it don't take it for granted because when it's over its over.... I love playing on Saturdays in college but I'll give anything to start my whole highschool football career over again
I'm going to be a high school freshman next year, i signed up for the team and i've looked into it online, i'm so excited can't wait for August to come. Nothing comes easy and so i'm grinding everyday for a chance at having my spotlight.
@west buck Cherish every moment. Once it's over it hurts. When the lights go out that last time and you hug your brothers, you'll know that that one more rep would have made the difference. Work until you have no regrets.
Doesn't matter what team you are on, football is family. Pretty much everyone in this comment section played, including me, and we know what it means to sacrifice in order to benefit the team. There's nothing like it in the world
I'm a freshman and played my first football game today against the Lincoln Nights and we won! 29 to 6 it made me feel good, celebrating with my brothers with our helmets in the air saying woohoo. God I dont wanna grow up. LETS GO GARLAND OWLS!✊
Enjoy this time in life. You'll never get it back. Appreciate the friendships, hardships, and pain. It'll make you stronger as a person and turn you from a boy into a man. Don't get too in a rush to grow up it'll be here before you know it.
I’ve played in both high school and college but I will never forget the fun I had playing high school ball. The boys you grew up with and the memories that you made both on and off the field with them will be cherished forever. It was a special time
I'm a freshman and we had a overnight camp at our school for football and this is the song out coach played every morning to wake up. It made me think about how I might have only 4 years left if football in my life. Brought back memories from middle school and I know I really have a love for football.
this always makes me think of my last season , my best friends , my brothers since childhood , football isnt just a sport its a way to show who you are and we certainly did that . not state champions but we should people we were special . im proud of everything we did accomplish and those memories will always be in my head and the memories of the friday night lights and hits / Las Vegas High School 10 :)
I love the comment sanctions like these they're filled wilth stories from people who are just starting out with high school football to people who's last game was last month! It's just a great thing to see people be so friendly and see these stories people have
This song gives me inspiration so much. Back in high school I was never the football player, just a baseball player. Football coaches wanted me to play. So i did.. got my ass knocked down and hit so hard. Started the first 6 games. Then i got benched.. the last game of the season, i was sitting in the locker room with my teamates down and out. we were down by 20.. i remember walking back out on that field at halftime, this song was playing. i told my coach to put me in.. i could make something happen. sure enough i get put in at TE. First play i get hit so hard.. but i got up and next play i went for a straight.. quarterback threw me the ball, i caught it and ran up the middle breaking tackles hearing the crowd roaring. after that our team caught fire.. i scored another touchdown after that on defense. ended up with 2 td's, 4 sacks and 6 tackles. best thing ever.
Every morning since my freshman year our coach played this, although we're talking about football I play soccer and this year we went to state, and continued to the finals we lost 2-1 in overtime, while we were driving home our coach played this. It's great
HS football really is a brotherhood your with those guys year round. Yes pushed each other and got pissed about it but we made each other better, yes we always got at each others throats at practice, but always had each others backs in games and off the field, my strengths were yours and your struggles were mine. Thats the motto
My fiancé is in the service right now. I haven't talk to him in over a month. This is his new beginning and I plan on documenting everything for him to look back on. The upbeat parts in the ending reminds me of how accomplished and proud he will be. And I just can't wait to hold him again ❤️🇺🇸
Thank you for posting this song. Not only this is such a fitting song for the movie, it fits for so many situations. When I listen to this, I think back on all the memories in the past and happiness within in shouts out and makes me tear up. I hope there are others out there who feel this way as well. I love this song!
Played basketball from 4th grade to 7th grade, and then an injury caused me to become a mascot. I miss playing basketball and being a mascot because they were the best days of my life. I watched 2 teams win state as a mascot and I still get chills every time I think of those games. And good god I really want to suit up again. :'(
play every down as if it was your last and never and i mean never give up . these will be memories you will have for the rest of your life so make them meaning full and fun .
I tear when I hear this. No, not because I'm a baby. I cry cause I feel the emotion of the song in just the first few notes. I feel my teammates around me as we watch the other team take a knee in our final game. I see the crowd that has supported us all year, and our whole lives. I feel the emotion because this song is more than words..
I went to study in malaysia a year ago... I quit my job before i went... Put my lifetime savings into paying my university fees... During my first sem there was a motivational speaker called eric thomas who gave a famous speech to some school students..... It became my anthem when i was in malaysia during the first sem.... Probably listened to it more than 500 times when everything seemed so impossible for me being a middle eastern not being familiar with anything on how the studying is done in the far east.... Now whenever i listen to this piece which was the background music of the speech... I automatically feel proud and motivated to do things... Not to mention the amount of emotion and drive i had back then...
This is the best movie I’ve ever seen . Used to watch it before every game . Never thought this sound track or movie would mean so much me to this day in 2020 thanks for a great movie . Great sound track . Life is short boys
This song reminds me of the first cross country race of my senior year. Night race that ended with fireworks. You almost never appreciate something till it's gone.
This song brings you to feel something special. To recount a beautiful memory, or to see where you have grown. Whatever you all are going through or have gone through... Remember this. Your experience will one become one of your biggest assets. One day it will help somebody else. If you have a battle, remember somebody else has been in that battle. You are never alone. God thank you for this life.
We are never alone man but hey man I do inspirational videos and it would mean the world if you could stop by one. If not enjoy your day man I hope for your success.
here in 2022, can't believe the last time i played under the lights was almost 3 years ago... Truly miss it, but I'm almost done with college to coach Texas football and i can't wait!! Texas forever:)
This video will never have enough views. It's too damn good. I think I've listened to this at least four times today alone. Every time a setback comes around, this song is always there to break my fall. Thank you for this, truly :)
I just graduated from high school. And my team lost the state championship and listening to this song brigs back all those great memories from playing football these past four years. I'll never forget it the time spent under those lights and in the heat of august during doubles. There will always be a place in my heart for football. I love the game and will miss playing it a lot and the thing I'll miss the most is suiting up with my brothers every game and it makes me sad to think that ill never have that feeling again but then I remember all the great memories I made because of it
Just remember don’t believe the hype .. hype is not real . No matter what people say about you know there’s still work to do and always stay humble and calm .. life is about the valleys and peaks and how well you can adapt to phases
This song makes me reflect on my senior year. I worked so hard to make it to the top and be a starter, and every year I fell just a little bit short. My team was very political, and I kept saying that I was ready to move on from that team and I wasn’t. Everytime we went into a playoff game my senior year, I wanted to lose. I just wanted everything to be over with. I wanted to make a difference on my team and be a great player, but my coach was very political and had his favorites. We made it to state this year. This was the one game I wanted to win. We fumbled the ball 3 times, missed 3 field goals, but we were still winning going into the 4th quarter. We lost the state championship 14-13. The message: I learned from football that it was an amazing journey. Throughout my journey I just wanted to be the best, and I never realized the impact I had on my team. Being second string every practice, learning everything, being a scout player, it made an impact without me even knowing it. I want anybody who feels that they don’t matter to know that they do. Everyone on a team has a role in the success of your program. I will never forget my high school Friday nights, they prepared me for the college Friday nights that I was recruited last minute to play for.
I'm a freshman football player and hearing this song makes me think about the future, from after high school and beyond that. Make every moment count, in any sport, in high school from a freshman to varsity player hearing the crowd cheering you on under the lights. Like i said make every moment count boys and girls make high school worth it .
My senior season was a lot like Friday Night Lights We had my best friend get paralyzed before the season and played in his honor We came in with lofty expectations We had two of our best guys nearly killed in a car accident the day before our biggest game We ended up missing the playoffs by nearly beating a heavily favorited team but got stopped on the 1 yard line going for the lead on a 2 pt conversion to win with no time left This season was my last, but I'll never forget the guys that endured it with me, I am so grateful for them
seems a little fake bro, I played ball up in Vermont and all of my 4 seasons consisted of 8 regular games and a short playoff run. Seems a little fake.
If your team didn’t even make high school playoffs chances are the team you played for was a straight trash. Post season isn’t hard to get in all you need to do is do half decent in league play
SensFan99 might seem fake but it was legit, we were plagued with injuries as well throughout the season One of my closest friends and best Defensive player tore his meniscus 4 games in Star WR/DB rolls ankle and misses 3 weeks Starting DT breaks his leg 5 games in and couldn’t do any sports until senior night of baseball Starting OLB gets hurt and misses a vital game Starting RB and #2 WR are the ones who get into a car crash and miss rest of the season It was a roller coaster ride and just this song brings back the memories of always trying to rally when things never seemed to go our way
Amazing song, amazing movie. Captures the experiences of a smalltown football team. I still remember reading the book during my freshman year. I am happy for my experiences with a smalltown encapsulated with football, and this movie is such a masterpiece. Wow. It kills me to even reminisce now because I get too nostalgic. Simpler times.
About 10 yeats ago i was a teenager, just left high school in a terrible job, lonely, depressed, void of any ambition just drifting through life wondering the point of it. I stumbled across a video on youtube. A guy called Eric Thomas was giving a speech to a group of high school kids about sucess and there was this hauntingly beautiful music in the background. The same music i listen to now. The point Eric was trying to make was its about how much you want it, about sacrifice and hard work, enduring pain and keeping faith. It changed me, like an epiphany i saw so clear what i had to do. I went back to college but i lost focus because i met a girl. The girl gave me a family and the love i was yearning and i see now how that was my reward for fighting back and it was all because Eric Thomas made me believe in myself. Never stop fighting because when all is said and done thats the only thing that matters. Never quit, never stop fighting.
I almost break into tears listening to this beautiful song, I had an awesome fun senior football season with my teammates but it leaves me heart broken that I blew out my ankle and got news I wouldn't be able to play for the rest of the year. I miss the heat, the lights and fans the only thing I have left is memories and I will cherish them forever.
You know it's crazy how much one change in a tempo can make you feel so much emotion. It's crazy how a song without lyrics can give you hope. How one melody can make you want to lay in a grass field and just stare up at the night sky with the person you love right next to you. Friend. Family. Girlfriend. Boyfriend. Just someone you love. I know that people are going through very tough times right now but you all need to keep your heads up high because you are worth it and you can do this. You can do whatever it is you put your mind to. High school is a big big deal don't over look anything. Go to football games. Join a team any team. Join a club, do something active. You'll meet people who will care for you and when you realize that you don't feel so invisible, you'll say damn these people actually care. Okay so keep your head up you don't know what the world has in store for you.
Best movie ever. This song is inspiring me to work harder and hopefully make it to college football. I just wanted to say I'm so glad to have seen this movie.
It’s not about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and get back up. That’s how winning is done. I know the quote is from rocky but this song brings that emotion out. No matter what it is in life you’re trying to accomplish. This is that song. Money, success, weight loss, anything really. If you want it, go get it.
Such a beautiful song. I remember my last year in football and we lost in the playoffs and I cried cause I didn’t want it to end. I loved it so much and it was something I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Man I'm only in 8th grade and I dont want school to end. I'm gonna miss the boys. Practices. Whooping ass in state. Post game locker room. Staying up all night putting extra work in. dont take this shit for granted. It'll slip away from u fast as hell. I love you guys.
Legit song... memories . I played football my last two years of high school. 18 games, 18 snaps, 3 tackles, 7 punts... nothing to brag about. but the bonding of the team was something i wont forget.. got extremely sick standing in the cold some games. i never showed emotion on that sideline. but now i am about to go to college and everytime i pass the field i miss the bear crawls, 2x100s , up downs even though i never showed it. i wish i could redo it once more.
This song makes me think about leaving behind after high school... the fun, outgoing, making new friends, going out with friends on cool friday nights after I leave high school..man its been quite a ride, the good and the bad days but now its all coming to an end and now I step into a new chapter....life.
It's been a year since I graduated from high school and every time this I hear this song it takes me back to night of my last football game as a senior. I laughed and cried with my best friends from the football team knowing that I would never see some of them ever again since some of them were going to university's. I truly miss those days out in the field busting my ass every day. But most importantly, I miss the team and the friendship I held with them.
Just played my last game of football tonight, changed history for my high school program, first team to make it to the playoffs in 14 years! It’s crazy to think about. I’m not a little boy playing football anymore, I’m a man now. I loved every second of it and I wish I never took some moments for granted. I miss it already!
I'm only a sophomore in BHS football and our last game this year we won against bridge creek 40-0 seniors cried all I did was just cry with them cause they're all my buds but senior year I know I'll come back listening to this song :,)
This is my first ever post in any comment section. I’m writing it with tears rolling down my face. I’m in such a bad place. It has nothing to do with football. I’m going through a divorce and feel so lost and alone. I went to mass this morning for the first time in years, looking for something, anything. For some reason, I sat there alone and started crying. I walked out feeling better. I came home trying to build on the emotion and came here looking for motivation. Somehow found the comments section to this song. I started reading them and the floodgates opened. It’s exactly what I needed. I’m going to be ok, will keep moving forward, keep my heart open and try to keep my head clear. Thank you, all, for some much needed inspiration, motivation and encouragement.
Can't Listen To This Song And Not Feel Something.....This Guys Hit It Right On The Head You Feel The Sadness The Pain The Appointment The Feeling Of It Ending Even When You Don't WANT to....All You Do Is Think Of The Memories And Say.......MAN with a little grin and some sadness.....Clear Eyes Full Hearts CAN'T LOOSE!!!
Man just reading your comment just brought me back to those hallways. I graduated in 09'. Seems like just yesterday I was hanging with all my buddies. Times change so fast, so un-willingly. You are gonna look back 3-4 years from now how I am right now and realize how much fun highschool was, how fast it really did go by. Don't anyone take their youth for granite, only 21 and I already miss being 16. Life sure is a trip !
To think it was only yesterday I was about to go into High School and ready myself for the years of wrestling ahead.. now it's all over and I'm getting myself ready to go into the Coast Guard. Honestly when people say time flys by I never listened or believed it but here I am today asking myself how all that went by before I could start understanding the meaning of HS and the friends I made and the memories along with it. Funny how a song like this can make me think all that through and through.
I’m about to start my last year of track and I’ve already enlisted into the Navy. I feel so ready to leave and start my life, but at the same time, sad, sad that this journey has finally come to an end and never thought it would. Any advice for a younger less experienced individual?
Josh Diekhoff yeah I’m a sophomore now and I hate highschool I have no true friends and I don’t do any after school classes or any sports nor do I go to there events like homecoming.
This song really reminds me of the season. I just finished my freshman year at Quarterback and Linebacker. No one thought I could play quarterback and I had self doubt at one point too, but I gave it my all and never looked back. Then in the playoffs we won a first round game by blocking a field goal at the last second of the game, next round we lost to the best team in the state. Before that game I didn't want the season to go on any longer bc as a freshman on varsity, all I was was a hitting dummy. I regret ever taking it for granted, I bawled after that game, surrounded by my brothers in blue and white. Never take anything for granted
im 20 years old right now a freshman in college took a year off of school after i graduated high school May 19th,2017 and boy i miss every second off it i would take it all back in a heartbeat i hate college i have no idea what i am gunna do with the rest of my life all i know is i miss every second of high school every 2 a day in the summer every last second of football i would do it all over in a heart beat never one a state championship never even made the semifinals when i was a freshman through senior my friends become my brother a bond i thought that would never be broken but Life happens some of them moved out of state to attend other universities and i dont talk to any of them but boy i will never forget all the hardwork i put it to it all the blood sweat and tears i left on that field. Now it is 2 years later i feel lost what that teacher said of how i am gunna miss this has came true i drive past my old high school every morning on the way to college and can smell that grass and believe there is nothing better than one smalltown come together one night out of the week for a football game its amazing but as i said Life happens im not sure what i want to do I am really thinking about being a football coach myself but boy i sure do miss those friday nights My advice to you guys in High School still is enjoy every second of it because one day you will look back and Miss High school i promise you that stay strong and stay humble
Brings me back to the good ole days under the light in front of a roaring home crowd.. Dam I miss these days so much, I'd give just about anything to go back and start all over and maybe try a little harder :/ great song
I just graduated from Permian… (the school that Friday night lights is about) and every moment of this is hard… idk exactly what I’m going to do in life but it’s scary seeing how fast time flies by! I remember playing football in elementary and watching the movie and couldn’t wait to be on the same field, just to walk the stage on that field and now I wish I could go back !😔
Now you get to enjoy the next chapter of life. You'll always have the memories, but don't get stuck living in the past trying to live in the glory days that's what Tim McGraw's character says a warning of. Keep on touch with the friends you've made. Keep a group chat, but keep living for you. There's a whole new world for you to enjoy.
Hello everyone, thank you so much for all the comments and sharing your stories of when you used to play football and everything, it means a lot to me. I'm glad these songs have touched peoples lives as they did mine
This might be the greatest instrumental to ever be made🙏🏾 I just wish I could strap up my helmet one more time with my brothers on that field. We walked off as State Champs but if I could live the rest of my life in those moments😭
I played for Mount Pleasant High School, home of the tigers. Went to the semi finals and quarter finals two different years, Never got a ring, but in a way It didn't matter, I loved my brothers and still do. All the memories we had together around our town, in school, and on the field will last forever, I'm in college now, but I look back and think, damn I gave it my all, and so In that way, I am perfect, and always will be. MP forever, goodbye
Mt Pleasant in tennessee? If so thats pretty cool seeing your comment cause I play or played for Wayne County lol last game yesterday lost in the semi finals. one game away from state..
My second to last game of my senior year I listened to this song before our game against our cross town rivals. I went up to each and every player on my team and thanked them for everything they've done. We went out there and destroyed them and I gave it my all. Becasue I knew when the clock hit zero, no matter what the score was, I would have the love and respect of my teammates. High school football was some of the greatest times of my life and I don't take back a single second.
Started football when i was seven years. The first year i played was honestly my favorite year. We went to the super bowl and the game was played on the Tampa Bay Buccaners Feild. WE ACTUALY GOT TO PLAY ON A PRO FOOTBALL TEAMS FEILD for our super bowl. but anywayy, Those freinds and teammates i had from that one year i started with, kept playing with me till i was 18 Every year we was on the same team untill highschool. We never went to another super bowl. but we always got close. From there we went our seperate ways into highschool. From 7 years old to 13 years old is 5 years. So u can imagine the hurt and pain i went through. They were my brothers. ONE TEAM ONE HEARTBEAT I kid' u not was the motto. We promised each other if we ever come across each other in highschool That we would give it our all. Now they were 6 main High-schools all of us splited into. Wharton, Wiregrass, Armwood, Tampa Bay Tech and Hillsbrough Highschool. I went to Wharton. First game we played i saw 4 of my "brothers on the other team. I only had 5 or 6 brothers on mine. It was funny tho cuz when we saw each other it made our heart for the game even stronger. We got so happy to see each other. we were once allies but now we were enemies. We gave it our all that game. Anyways.... For Four years tho we kept facing each other cuz we were all in the same county. All of em got scholarships. Some to FSU, ALABAMA, USF, etc. Now were all going to play college football. To believe this all started from a bond that a coach knew how to create among seven year old kids is crazy! Their family man. and this song just brings back memories. o god i wish i can go back in time. im 18 now. FROM 7 YEARS OLD TO now is crazy.
I love how this track has that indie feel to it. I played baseball CF and I always remember the smell of the grass. That final game as a senior we walked off the field while I plucked a few grass blades and smelled it one last time. Every time I would return home on the weekend I would go back to that field and walk the outfield. Now that, my parents retired to Orlando, I'll never smell that grass again.
There is NOTHING like playing under those lights on a Friday night.Never take anything for granted. It could all be over in a split second. I worked the hardest I ever worked that winter, spring, and summer before my last season because I wanted that ring then I tore my acl the week before our playoff game and it tore me down. Make sure no matter what anybody says, you work hard because it will all pay off on those Friday nights and you never know when it will end.
We ended a teams season, it was a fun victory. But as I looked over to their sideline after the game it was full of emotion. Sad that football is only a sport but has such an affect on young men’s live. The sport itself is a disciplined and teamwork sport. A game that can be filled with ass kicking excitment or even sad moments. Either way there’s something good in every game. Sad imma be a senior next year. Felt like yesterday was my first day of football in 6th grade with a small crowd in a soccer field. Now I’m on the big stage with a town behind me calling my name, fans cheering, and being under those bright Friday night lights. God imma miss these moments.
Please, anyone thinking of going into football, do it immediately. I had so much fun in the 9 years of playing, and all the friendships I've made, all the tears and blood shed, the games won, lost, championships won, lost, make everything worth it. I just finished playing varsity my Gr. 10 year. I ended up tearing my ACL, and doc says I'll never play again. I did so in my provincial (state) championship during a short yardage play. That play led to a touchdown, but I wasn't there to cry with my brothers after we lost the game as I was in the hospital. Please, it is never to late to join. Go out there and have the time of your life.
***** Seriously dude, if he wants to try football let him try football. Everybody said I wasn't suited to play ball and I've been playing for 10 years because its the best thing to relieve my stress. Let him try what he wants to.
***** You are a very negative person, I feel bad for you if that's the way you honestly feel. Ali, go to try outs, show the coaches you want to learn and that you're dedicated and don't forget chicks dig scars.
Following my Junior year I had one goal, I wanted to start at Wide Receiver. I worked my ass off doing core and ab exercises twice a day, I did polymerics in my own home and backyard because I didn’t have a gym. I ran sprints and did latter drills in my backyard both in the early morning and evening. I did hip mobility drills in the basement of my own home. I stretched every night and foam rolled to prepare myself. I watched film to understand our team playbook and watched more film on the greatest wide receivers in the nfl. I made every 7 on 7 and practice and was dedicated to my goal. I had perfect attendance in the offseason lifting program and gained over 15 pounds. I cought 100 balls a day from my brother and begged him to throw me more passes so I could improve. I learned the nuances of wide receiver and mastered the different breakpoints. As the season began I was still second string, I kept faith and continually pushed myself in practice to get that opportunity, the opportunity to score my first high school football touchdown. To conclude I have yet to score that touchdown, but it was all worth it. Every ab workout, sprint, rep in the weight room, drill, practice, and catch. My senior year flew by so fast, but so many memories will be etched in stone. My dream did not come true, but that doesn’t mean yours can’t. Have faith, work hard, and keep those feet moving boys. “The end of something is better than its beginning. Patience is better than pride.”
brotherhood tested, the lights meant everything. we're just a couple of kids who loved playing football, for most of us this is the peak of it all. thanks for the song
When the lights go out that last time and you hug your brothers, you'll know that that one more rep would have made the difference. Work until you have no regrets.
Im 30 never played organized ball. I wish i would have joined that brotherhood. Congratulations to all the boys who left it all out there with their guys. Proud of each and every one of you 🖤
This track is way too much !!! Life can be mad cruel and tunes like this . . . . . . Well if u feel it u feel it, if not there will be a time when u do. Top man for uploading this mate think alot of peeps will appreciate this.
played ball in HS too.. but this song isn't about football. it's about leaving one journey and stepping into another world. we were all young .. young together.. and that time had to end. we will never be that person again. that's ok. remember those times and move on to what's next in life. there is a reason why the end is upbeat, while the beginning is somber. moving to a new phase in life can be scary and make you want to go back.. but you can't. life is about new challenges and the road ahead. the best moments in life are still waiting for us. nothing but love and respect brothers.
probably the most accurate explanation I've read about the ending of highschool. you know, when I graduated, the principal that was one of the toughest sons a bitches out there, cried. as he wept, he looked at all of us, and told us we were the greatest class he's seen. so great that he was quitting that night. and never returning because he wanted us to be his legacy. as he continued, he said "this is where you really begin growing. and you can never be the same. because you will never be with these great humans ever again." the flag in the back round was at half mass for some reason. one I wish I could remember. he walked off stage, and raised it. for us. fireworks ensued and we were told gongatulations by the best teaching staff there ever was. it was by far the most beautiful moment of my entire life.
True and pure words !!! very powerful , I'm not real computer literate but the comments up here are amazing !!!
My high school football career just ended, and reading your comment just gave me an entirely new view of this song and of the situation. Thank you.
What was your position?
Damn this shit made me tear up
Every time I hear this song, I can almost smell the grass on a cold fall morning in Oregon.
I miss the Mississippi heat and every year it comes around it beings me back because I put my heart and soul in every play and I miss it!!
@@bendwire1620same, always gets me running the town or lifting. God i miss it!
Seeing comments from 5+ years ago hits different. Everyone is living completely different lives.
They really are, it just puts things into perspective, 5 years ago I was in grade 7 and now I'm graduating
@@dosivcharlie4908 congratulations!!!!
yep
You can still BE PERFECT
Same. I was watching this in my freshmen year. Now I've graduated and starting college. Incredible how time flies, stay strong brothers and sisters.
@@JimForeman hahahaha :D
Wasn’t lance Armstrong the cheater? Who used drug enhancing stuff?
@@dominus6224 don’t kid yourself they all did
@@billnye86 they all did, does that make him less of a cheat?
My son played ice hockey for seven years. Some of the best times with him growing up watching him play. The friendships he made with the other kids as they defended each other in a very physical sport. Grade twelve at the end of the season he was picked with a bunch of his friends to play the scholarship tournament. The final game was in this old vintage rink out in Abbotsford. They won the tournament and then just like that it was all over. This song sums up the melancholy feeling I had driving home.... the strength of emotion surprised me.
Makes me tear up reading that. Before you know it, it’s over.
I think the best thing as beeing parent or something like this ,is to to be involved in the life of whom we love this is for me the best history to tell.
Wow I grew up in abbotsford, small world
I listened to this song regularly before games.
Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose. Texas Forever.

The guru by Eric Thomas
@Jacob Perry why? Because it’s true? It reflects how people like you love to quit and blame others for it? It shows discipline when you want something that bad. It means you are willing to do what you hate, but do it like you love it.
My mannn 😃
Being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It's not about winning. It's about you and your relationship with yourself, your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didnt let them down because you told them the truth. And that truth is you did everything you could. There wasnt one more thing you could've done. Can you live in that moment as best you can, with clear eyes, and love in your heart, with joy in your heart? If you can do that gentleman - you're perfect!
That quote is so true, but at the same time, I can't really tell if I lived in that moment, specially when facing failure...
no it's about winning
Entertaining Chats it is about winning too but you need to understand you cant always win and accept loss like real man with respect.
Do it for Boobie Miles
This song is literally making everyone pour out their feelings in the comments. That's how inspirational it is...wow haha
lol....."Ain't it good, Being the coach?"
AllVolTan I love these types of comment sections it's were we can all give advice to the younger ones and the older guys tell their stories
no one will never know how it feels to play under those lights.... best 6 years of my life :')
Except for the millions of others who have played under those lights maybe?
wtg2989 It's always a personal experience for everyone.
Hell even the folks who lost during their state championship games have better tales to tell.
joe morones a lot of people have played under the lights, I played under them. What the fuck are you talking about?
@@americangangsterlock1550 damn dude, do you tell that story to every 20 something you try to fuck? Let me guess, you would have went pro too if you didn't tear your acl? You drive an 89 mustang and wear your letterman jacket to a "fancy dinner" at Applebees after a long week at the plant?
This kinda song will turn you into a morning person if you listen to this while running in the a.m
Listening to this while running will make you forget about the run altogether. I'm gonna have to try the morning run with this though. Thanks.
Big facts
beautiful
Truuuuuu.
As a middle aged guy, I listen to this and I remember the film and I reflect on my military career post 911, and all the young guys i served with and the sense of purpose we all shared. I'm gonna add this to my running playlist.
Texas two a days in August,
humid scorching air, dry fields, crunchy grass, pvc piped water trees.
The whistle, the break clap of the huddle, the hustle, the development of character, the memories…
It's amazing what people can create; something as simple as a song can cause such emotion.
my dad is a football coach and has been coaching ever since i was a bby and longer! this song brings tears to my eyes every time!
there is nothing like football season. the smell of the air, people cheering, whistles blowing and pure excitement in the air ; to me football isn't a sport its a way of life!
"To be able at any moment to sacrifice who are, for what you will become" - Eric Thomas

I'm sorry for your loss. I know this post is old. Hope you're okay. ❤️
This song really inspired me to strive for greatness #26
im from wareham mass. come to the gateway tavern sometime for good food and drinks...confidence overcomes everything remeber that...
I love them too
#35 forever
TheStreetbOY I am currently a junior in high school playing football for the Byrnes Rebels the best football team to ever play in the state of South Carolina 11 state championships and more to come but whatever you do out on that field just be great dawg be perfect keep grinding and you'll get that state ring in no time just keep pushing bro defeat isn't an option have that dawg in you that doesn't settle for anything less than victory keep grinding man get that ring ✊✊
It's been 3 years, did you accomplish your dreams or is this another BS pussy story?
800dsf you must be fun at parties, if you even get invited to them.

Update. Three years later my man
This song makes me realize the beauty of simplicity. I don't need the fame, cars or money. I just need the work ethic the Lord has blessed me with to transcend in life. (for His Glory)
Never would've thought I'd miss high school..
Gettin close to graduating. I’ve been thinking it would be sad to finish high school since I was a sophomore
American GanGster Lock not all people can be that lucky..
Proud of my son that made starting varsity in his sophmore year! Just typing this makes me feel a knot in my throat. This friday they play a pretty tough rival. You can bet your last dime I'll be in the bleachers cheering on the team but mostly I'll be cheering on #65!
I miss the hell out of it. Wish I could do it all over again
@Escalato yea bro im in the summer weight training program so i can get big💪first week is done second week is on monday
There's nothing like it in the world
By far the best instrumental ever. So much emotions on different levels.
This is the only song I know that can bring me to tears in an instant....Beautiful.
Home?
I'm a freshman and played my first football game today against the Lincoln Nights and we won! 29 to 6 it made me feel good, celebrating with my brothers with our helmets in the air saying woohoo. God I dont wanna grow up. LETS GO GARLAND OWLS!✊
Enjoy it man. I enjoyed it amd have no regrets. Go portage indiana Indians!!!
Enjoy this time in life. You'll never get it back. Appreciate the friendships, hardships, and pain. It'll make you stronger as a person and turn you from a boy into a man. Don't get too in a rush to grow up it'll be here before you know it.
lets go enjoy and keep on going because you're on a good path and only good things can come from it. God Bless and stay safe
best time of your life, enjoy it brother :)
Enjoy it brotha. Yesterday was my last game. Enjoy each moment and cherish your brothers
this always makes me think of my last season , my best friends , my brothers since childhood , football isnt just a sport its a way to show who you are and we certainly did that . not state champions but we should people we were special . im proud of everything we did accomplish and those memories will always be in my head and the memories of the friday night lights and hits / Las Vegas High School 10 :)
This song symbolizes what high school football is about
True
Man I live in Odessa Texas that's where they filmed this movie
And I just can't wait to hold him again ❤️🇺🇸
thank him for his service....god speed !
I hope things went well with the two of you and that was very well written. Thank you for sharing ❤️
you will make it don't worry
lol
play every down as if it was your last and never and i mean never give up . these will be memories you will have for the rest of your life so make them meaning full and fun .
+Slim Shady Thanks for the cool visual :)
2019 still here if you’re reading this I wish you nothing but success and pure happiness
I love the game and will miss playing it a lot and the thing I'll miss the most is suiting up with my brothers every game and it makes me sad to think that ill never have that feeling again but then I remember all the great memories I made because of it
The love for a sport yu truly care about . . . Man do I kno the feeling
My senior season was a lot like Friday Night Lights
We had my best friend get paralyzed before the season and played in his honor
We came in with lofty expectations
We had two of our best guys nearly killed in a car accident the day before our biggest game
We ended up missing the playoffs by nearly beating a heavily favorited team but got stopped on the 1 yard line going for the lead on a 2 pt conversion to win with no time left
This season was my last, but I'll never forget the guys that endured it with me, I am so grateful for them
Matthew Burge absolutely bullshit but good luck if it's true doe
seems a little fake bro, I played ball up in Vermont and all of my 4 seasons consisted of 8 regular games and a short playoff run. Seems a little fake.
If your team didn’t even make high school playoffs chances are the team you played for was a straight trash. Post season isn’t hard to get in all you need to do is do half decent in league play
I Do Play throughs that’s the thing tho, it really does seem straight from a movie, but it was legit. Closest I’ve ever felt with a team
SensFan99 might seem fake but it was legit, we were plagued with injuries as well throughout the season
One of my closest friends and best Defensive player tore his meniscus 4 games in
Star WR/DB rolls ankle and misses 3 weeks
Starting DT breaks his leg 5 games in and couldn’t do any sports until senior night of baseball
Starting OLB gets hurt and misses a vital game
Starting RB and #2 WR are the ones who get into a car crash and miss rest of the season
It was a roller coaster ride and just this song brings back the memories of always trying to rally when things never seemed to go our way
Amazing song, amazing movie.
Playing this song after losing a game while driving home always put my mind at ease
+Jermaine Jackson i'm in the same boat man. I got one last season of HS rugby left so i gotta make the most of that now
This song makes me think about leaving behind after high school... the fun, outgoing, making new friends, going out with friends on cool friday nights after I leave high school..man its been quite a ride, the good and the bad days but now its all coming to an end and now I step into a new chapter....life.
Played my last game of HS football today, crazy how quickly the past 3 seasons flew by.
Rajarshi Dasgupta trust feels like it was yesterday and I graduated 2 years ago. Hope you played it like it was your last!
Spaz Agar.io & More linebacker
Daniel Desroches Larente Haha it was a great ride. When I look back on high school, football is definitely something I'll look back on
I know that feeling man, it's like you're happy from all the fun you had. But you know nothing in life will be like that again.
MrAwesomemonster for sure man, but I see greater things in the future
It's been a year since I graduated from high school and every time this I hear this song it takes me back to night of my last football game as a senior. I laughed and cried with my best friends from the football team knowing that I would never see some of them ever again since some of them were going to university's. I truly miss those days out in the field busting my ass every day. But most importantly, I miss the team and the friendship I held with them.
This soundtrack calms me in my irreparable grief
Keep moving bro
Josh Diekhoff I want it to be all over already.
Very peaceful. I sat on my porch eating soup while it rained, this song was shown to me then. Its nice :)
What sort of soup.
+Paul Hunwicks chicken
+Donavan O'brein cherish those memories
im 20 years old right now a freshman in college took a year off of school after i graduated high school May 19th,2017 and boy i miss every second off it i would take it all back in a heartbeat i hate college i have no idea what i am gunna do with the rest of my life all i know is i miss every second of high school every 2 a day in the summer every last second of football i would do it all over in a heart beat never one a state championship never even made the semifinals when i was a freshman through senior my friends become my brother a bond i thought that would never be broken but Life happens some of them moved out of state to attend other universities and i dont talk to any of them but boy i will never forget all the hardwork i put it to it all the blood sweat and tears i left on that field. +Jon Wright amen
I could listen to this song on repeat forever.
Crazy how they put these two songs together and boom masterpiece
Mount Pleasant High school North Carolina
Man thank you for sharing that, I just want to say that was both touching and inspiring. Hope things went well with college football.
I woke up to this song at 3am I started dreaming about my Dad it was instant tears I miss him so much.
Jeff Wiley stay strong
I'm so sorry Jeff, I hope you're doing okay.
Friday night lights in Texas is just different. This song makes me miss high school and wearing my letterman :/

Best of luck!
***** Who are you to tell him what to play? You can't tell if people are good at a certain sport by just looking at a picture.
*****
Seriously dude, if he wants to try football let him try football.
ImperialAggron I'm so sorry man, best of luck in whatever you do in the future
That's insane what high school did you play for?
This comment section is happy, sad, inspiring, motivational and nostalgic at the same time
When you want to succeed as much as you want to breath...then you will be successful.
some of the most inspiring and motivating words ever spoken
Fuck man I can't believe it's over, four years gone by so fast. I wish it didn't have to end.
I feel you bro
+bro52086 I fell your pain man
Play in college?
brotherhood tested, the lights meant everything. we're just a couple of kids who loved playing football, for most of us this is the peak of it all. thanks for the song
When the lights go out that last time and you hug your brothers, you'll know that that one more rep would have made the difference. Work until you have no regrets.
Im 30 never played organized ball. I wish i would have joined that brotherhood. Congratulations to all the boys who left it all out there with their guys. Proud of each and every one of you 🖤
This is the kind of song you should listen to when you're feeling down and wanna pick yourself back up.
This track is way too much !!!
Life can be mad cruel and tunes like this . . . . . . Well if u feel it u feel it, if not there will be a time when u do.
