    Try using a spatual. Don’t worry about edges being thicker, if they get done faster, just cut them off. I love a combination of mango and apple.

      Hello Denis. We had fun creating this video about 6-7 years ago and more importantly, the delicious apple roll ups. They didn't last very long because our grandson visited shortly thereafter and found them. It just gave us an excuse to make more. Thank you for watching, sharing and caring. Stay safe. Have a great week playing in your garden. Lynn & Richard from www.WisconsinGarden.com

    love the video. my dehydrator will be arriving in about 4 days. i think ill prepare my apples, pears, kiwis, ill even mix them up ahead of time so when the dehydrator arrives, read the directions and then spread the mixture on the paraflexx sheets. ill put lightly olive oil on the sheets.
    i think this was the most easiest video that i was able to get a grip on making fruit leathers. you have such a sweet energy .

      Awe thank you for your kind comments. You will love using your dehydrator for so many reasons. It's a get way to dry and store fruits and veggies for the off seasons, especially if you're living in a colder climate such as our here in Wisconsin. While this has been one of the mildest winters on record we still get to taste goodies we prepared during peak harvests. If your family is like ours, your fruit roll ups won't last long. In some ways that's great because we don't add any preservatives as their shelf life is somewhat limited. But our grandson is great in finding them every time he visits. He'll even eat an entire quart jar of dried apples which is wonderful for his digestive system. Better this than candy, although just as sweet and delicious. Thank you for watching, caring and sharing. We look forward to your future comments on your roll up experiences as well. Lynn & Richard

      Hi Tammy. Absolutely. There are many ways to do this. This was our first attempt about 5-6 years ago. Ive been canning crab apples this year since the tree was so full the branches were literarily touching the ground, last year the tree was full of blossoms, then it froze resulting in not one apple, Im glad i seen this video as i was wanting to make fruit roll ups as well., There are still lots of apples out there, and i sure don't want them to go to waste. I wonder if a pizza cutter would work to cut through the leather. I just love my dehydrator :)

    • @WisconsinGarden
      @WisconsinGarden  9 лет назад +1

      Harphoney Funny you should be talking about crab apples as we just visited our daughter at work today and actually tested eating some from the trees on the property which also are loaded with them. They were sweeter than we expected and consider going back and making jam. As for the pizza cutter, I think that would work just fine cutting through the Roll Up Leather. We too love our dehydrator for all the extra goodies worth storing for eating year-round. Let us know how it worked out for you. Thanks for watching and sharing. Lynn & Richard

    It is really interesting and more happy to watch this wonderful preparations. Recently, i was very keen to start a small food company related to the production of dried fruits, however, this preparation boost me to even think of the fruits rolls. I would like to know, will i use the same Excalibur 3926TB Food Dehydrator, Black in the initial period or you have any other suggestion. Looking forward your suggestion.

    • @WisconsinGarden
      @WisconsinGarden  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your question. The Excalibur is very expensive to start with. You can use your oven, just set at the lowest setting and keep track of how long it takes to get to the consistency you want. You can also find less expensive models such as Waring, to get started and then get the bigger one later. If you can find a less expensive one that includes a fan as well as a heating element, that would be ideal. Thanks for watching, hope everything goes well. Keep us posted. Lynn & Richard

    • @WisconsinGarden
      @WisconsinGarden  6 лет назад

      Hi Ally. Actually the skin contains lots of nutrients and great fiber. Unfortunately our grandson, who not so little anymore, prefers our roll up without skin. We had to hide our roll-ups but that didn't last long. He always found them and gobbled them down. Precious to watch his reactions when we find him eating them. do you put a darkening prohibitor into the sauce (lemon or FruitFresh)?

    • @WisconsinGarden
      @WisconsinGarden  5 лет назад

      Hi Sandi. Since this video was produce at least 5 years ago, to the best of my memory, I don't remember using Pectin or any other natural prohibitor in creating our Apple Roll Ups. It probably wouldn't help since they are gobbled down by our grandson and my husband Richard shortly after making them. I would test two test batches, one with and one without a prohibitor to see which you prefer. Keep us posted on your preference. Thank you for watching, caring and sharing. I like the skins left on mine.

    • @WisconsinGarden
      @WisconsinGarden  8 лет назад +1

      Skins often hold the most nutritional part of fruit but some people can't eat the skins. I myself have a problem eating hairy peach fuzz while Richard loves eating the entire peach. It's all a matter of taste and conditioning. Either way, it all still tastes great just like the beer ads "More Flavor - Less Filling." Our viewers are still weighing in on whether the plant in the Dirt or Soil. Richard charges me $.25 each time I say Dirt on camera. By the way, we're still trying to figure out which came first, the chicken or the egg? Thanks for watching, caring and sharing. Lynn & Richard

    Can't wait to be able to say I'm no longer homeless and living with an abusive mother and brother that don't care and only allow us to stay here because they feel obligated to do so. And they need someone to provide them with cable and pay bills and help stock their pantry and fridge and clean their house. Even when we ocasionally came over to visit when were weren't living here I had to clean like crazy when we first got here and I would often come back a week after we went back to out home to find the same dishes were still sitting in the sink.
    Someday I hope that by some miracle that the kids and I can cook together in a kitchen of our own!
