James Taylor was mega popular, and is still touring. My favorite JT album (and title song) of all time is "Sweet Baby James" from 1970. It was written as a lullaby for his new baby nephew (and namesake). I am also a huge fan of the 1975 album "Gorilla." "Mexico" is my favorite from that album. I went with a group of friends to see JT in 1996 at an outdoor amphitheater. He did "Sweet Baby James" last, and the crowd was on its feet. We had our arms entwined and rocking back and forth, sang along with every word. It was a beautiful experience.
On guitar the phenomenal Waddy Wachtel and on bass the great Leland Sklar !

Some of his songs, "Fire and Rain", "Carolina on my mind", "Sweet baby James", (Whenever I see)"Your smiling face", "Don't let me be lonely tonight", "You've got a friend" (Carole King). Any of those ring a bell? You would recognize a few if you heard them. He was married to Carly Simon ("You're so vain", "Anticipation"). JD Souther wrote songs for Linda Ronstadt and The Eagles.

I've never even heard of this song or DJ Souther before and I only know James Taylor from his version of “You've Got a Friend”, which is from what I bet you've heard him before, but I really like how smooth this song is and think that both of their voices sound really nice both together and apart. You're absolutely right about the Bee Gees. They're the best of the best; I don't think anyone could top them! I understand if you're not able to do a full marathon. I appreciate you not wanting to disappoint your viewers and I'm happy that you're still doing your marathon this weekend, but I understand if other things in your life that are way more important than RUclips made you too tired to do any YT videos. We all understand that you have a life outside of YT and that we're not at our best when we're so tired. Just do what you can do. But, honestly, if you need to skip a whole weekend of videos, I understand and fully support you doing so, no matter how much I look forward to your videos every weekend. I'll just happily and patiently wait for the next marathon. Your dedication to and thoughtfulness and consideration towards your viewers is one reason why you're one of my favorite RUclipsrs. I hope you find time to get all rested up and that your work eases up soon. Maybe your life will be a bit less stressful really soon with the school year coming to a close, giving you one less thing to worry about for two whole months.

J D Souther played Jesse James in the 1999 TV movie "Purgatory". He has that classic rugged western look as he got older.

Handy man, You got a friend, fire and rain, and many others, also have you noticed the J.D. sings higher than James during the verses, but sings lower than James during the chorus.
J.D. Souther is a great songwriter, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame back in 2013. He worked with many artists, including the Eagles and Linda. He wrote a beautiful song, "Faithless Love," and Linda recorded it on "Heart Like A Wheel." The harmony you hear on the studio version of this gorgeous piece is J.D. He also recorded it himself a couple of years later. Also, one of my favorite versions is Glen Campbell's cover from 1984. Don't you love how connected the artists were? J.D. does a little acting as well. I first remember him in the 80's tv show "thirtysomething." More recently he was in the show "Nashville."

THANK YOU for posting this. I rediscovered this song about 6 months ago and every time I hear these two I feel a flood of memories and emotions......love, loss, anger, happiness and betrayal. I think these 2 compliment each other amazingly. I feel this song is extremely underappreciated as there was so much great music being made back then. I know he has been around for a long time but just didn’t know he sang some of the songs he sang and wrote. “Another Day in Paradise “. “Easy Lover “. “Against All Odds “ Two Hearts “ In the Air Tonight “ just to name a few.
