Print gradients on 2 pieces of A2 acetate going from white, to clear, to black, and then you can go out and buy plain A2 sheets of any colour card, place the gradients on them, and you have a gradient in any colour. The acetate prints are relatively inexpensive £4, $5, €4.3, but if you take care of them then you can use them for years, and all you have to do is get a Pantone colour of what you are shooting, go to a paper supplier online, enter that number and they'll have perfectly matching coloured card with you in a couple of day for pennies.
I have been watching many photograpgers, but I stopped once I found u. Ur explanation is spot on. The best thing that I like what u do is, u r justifying each step one by one very clearly. Thank u so much for your great help for young photographers
those gradients at 7:50 ..... you blew my mind at that point. I just love product photography and that , that is like the biggest tip or we could say trick I ever learned! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I never usually comment on videos but your channel is INSANE! I love the style of your videos and the way you break it down step by step. Makes it so much simpler to understand. Thank you! ☺️
This hack is amazing, other photographers would tell you "buy a subscription to our pro club to get lab lab lablaaa" This man deserves respect and coffee :)
Martin, I am learning SO much from you. I'm self taught and your videos really help me on my journey to be a product photographer. I actually just got my first professional job to shoot beauty products long term for a big company and I'm absolutely looking forward to using your advice. If you ever set up a Patreon account or the likes I'll be sure to leave something there, you more than earned it. If I'm ever in Stockholm I'll be sure to stop by and shake your hand, greetings from Berlin! Elmo
Thanks a lot, yes if you're ever in Sthlm make sure to hook me up and we will do a Subs Choice episode. I do not have a Patreon account, instead you can become a "Coffee Supporter" on my website www.botvidsson.se
Mind blown!! It's one of those things that are so simple when someone tells you about it, but too clever to have actually realised it yourself! Another great tutorial. Keep it up, I'm learning so much!
A really nice trick has blown our minds! We used to put only the white boards when shooting a product in light mood. I got to try this out! And yes, I'm with black gradient at the front. Thanks Botvidsson! Can't wait the see the next one! It looks like a massive with the new product coming up.
Amazing, and for the second look it is more natural to the eye to have the bright on the side graduating to dark to the front so the sides of the product will be in separation from the bg.and the transition in the front is smooth and not a cutoff straight black line like the first setup. Brilliant...!
Also on the mark 11:39 when you raised the camera and looked down on the product it DID NOT show the reflection that puzzled you which was by the way always there . It only showed when the camera was low shooting horizontally likely reflecting the top edges of the two side gradient cards converging in like V shape, amazing how the reflections play with curved mirror like surfaces, it is as if you are shooting with wide zoom up converging the sky scrapers in..
I'm a 3D artist - the enemy! - your techniques are extremely useful and they work 100% in a virtual photographic environment. Love your presentation style too. Subscribed!!
i really never skip a tutorial for you, i'm a professional photographer and you always amaze me with those techniques. i still can not believe that you only got 9k subs :( YOU ARE A MASTER
Big thanks! Well, 9K subs is probably because I upload not so often, right now I have too much photography work but when things slow down I will be back.
I'm really enjoying your content dude! It's awesome seeing your thought process, but you, as a person, seem super genuine and cool af. Never realized how much I would enjoy "simple product photos" until I had to do it. Finding your videos helped me make something I was really happy with. Oddly, happier than some of the landscape photos I took of beautiful places. Strange 😅
You blew my mind once again. AND made me make another cup of coffee! Your videos are the best. So informative, creative, and humorous as well. And that retro style cycling cap is totally on point.
You are the best photography teacher I see, you explore light behaviour very simple, I like you and thank you, for creating this video, unfortunately it's not easy for us to have high quality swedish lighting and modifiers in Iran, but I hope to make amazing photo and I'll send you them, I hope to surprise you :)
Great to hear Arash! Thanks a lot! Well, you don't need Profoto flashes to take photos, light is light. Grab what you can find and just go for it. I waiting to see you photos 😃
Wow! Awesome shot. I would love to see a video about to-scale miniature car photography and creation of a backdrop to make it look like a real car. Maybe some flashlight light painting? It would be really cool to see how you handle it.
@@botvidsson I guess so.. but really, your videos helping me a lot. Your studio setup (clipping backgrounds, using "tripods" and so... Alltogether with lighting tips, use of various reflectors... Most of the things on youtube is vague and amateur... Far away from yours! ;-)
You didn't lie, indeed it's mind blowing!! And it's done with one flash, very clean, hands down. A humble suggestion, maybe you can review (and comment) your followers photos, and maybe show how you done it if it were you (does it make sense?). Anyway, I'd love to have interaction with my guru to get inspired more, thank you for the video!
I don’t usually comment on videos, but man that’s INSANE! You did such a great job with just 2 pieces of paper! You definitely got a new subscriber, from Italy!
both the text on the front of the cosmetic product and the thickness of the glass made photography difficult. the diffuser from the dark to the open was a great idea. congratulations!
Jeez! That gredient trick is awesome! I was thinking, maybe the issue with the text in the back showing could be resolved by placing a black paper in the back to cut the light coming from behind? Good job!!!
Enjoyed the watch and just a thought. If it was a double gradient, going from black at both ends of the glossy paper and white in the centre then you would get the dark sides to the lid and the dark bar in the centre, but a nice shading as it curls around. Fun would then get best of both worlds. :-)
I believe that the secret of the video was exactly between 8:33 - 8:36 I just did not get the secret message. This guy does not give his tips and tricks that easily. Kudos!
Once again great approach to this products! Next time try to recicle some print material from the studio to avoid print two new papers. The bottle have gold letters and a embossed logo?
Jakob D 😂 I think we have a new T-shirt print. Ah! Now I know what I will do, I will open a T-shirt store with the best sub comments! I’m totally doing it! Thanks man!
I hit the like button then I watch the video...Cheers from Greece!
That's the way to do it, thanks! 😁
Fantastic tip with the printed gradiant! Thank you!
You are very welcome!

Yes I'm not a bit fan of the sharp edged black strip in the center you see everywhere. Thanks!
Ah yes thanks man, good observation. I should really tweak everything a bit, my tutorials have to go fast so it's always a bit ruff :) @@photozen8398

Hello enemy 😉 Happy to hear that its useful, thanks for the subs!!
Nifty idea. I'll have to try this. I prefer the dark at the front.
Me too! Thanks! 😃
Mind = 💥💥💥
This is my favorite RUclips channel hands down.
Mind explosion x3 That's a good.
Excellent trick. I like the second version light to dark in the middle for smooth gradient. Brilliant idea!
Thank you! Cheers!
love these vids, thanks for putting in all the hard work.
😍 Thanks!
I couldn’t resist myself from appreciating, what a wonderful way to explain the tricks, bravo
Wow, thank you!
I shoot product all the time and the paper with the gradient is genius, thank you for sharing!!
Thanks Martin! All ways are good except the once that are bad... like we say in Sweden ;)
Loving the simple tips and also seeing how your studio is lit and setup
Appreciate it! Thanks.
And here is why I love RUclips. Helped me a lot, so thank you for your time, and upload. Off to buy a better printer 😆

Every time I look up your channel there's something really cool I haven't seen or tried. You make great tutorials, Martin. 👍
Makes me very happy to hear that, thanks a lot Marcel.
Great idea. I always use the big diffusion panels on both sides, but this gives another possibility to create the gradient. Thanks for sharing!
