The most impressive part of this showcase is undoubtedly the incorporation of backsteps into some of your dodge methods. I haven’t seen a single person use them, whether it be through normal gameplay or even for theatrics like this. Kudos my man. 👍
They’re really useful, especially if your weapon is a slash type sometimes the stepback attack or crouch attack (they do the same attack) you do a thrust attack on some weapons which is kinda good and saved my ass countless times, I’m really surprised that you barely see that lol
@@bayabooz4855 I'm not saying backstepping is a hidden gem that I'm shocked nobody uses, I'm saying that I'm impressed by OP for incorporating a clunky and nonviable tech into a video because it looks good. Backsteps are just bad, period. Ofc there are very niche uses such as canceling charged attacks on a very limited set of weapons, but they demand you stop all input on your joystick, only to travel less distance than a roll and have no s doing it. They interfere with normal gameplay far too much and give nothing in return.
I was expecting bloodhound step for two reasons. 1. Gehrman is an Old Hunter so he has those kinda dashes 2. Malenia no hit feels next to impossible without it Some big boi respect right here.

The fight and waterfowl dance dodging are amazing, but the fact that you came all the way here to fight her in NG+7 with just 10 vigor is absolutely amazing.

@@kartikayysola yeah. A lot of the bosses have really bad tracking. With good movement you can dodge them by just running around it and go for a charging attack.
@@paulwin9036 true, but I find Malenia's to be particularly unforgiving. I'm sure on future runs I'll get better at it tho. Owl Father's firecracker combo in Sekiro was the absolute bane of my existence for a while, but after a while I never got hit by it.

Seeing Malenia land the Scarlet Aeonia miles away from the player kinda looked sus to me. Specialy since she always tracks on to me on a 100% accuracy. The fight looks really great and me saying I'm impressed and amazed is such and understatement but her tracking seemed so... off ? Perhaps there's something in her fight that I do not know of.
@@PEEK-A-BOO101 I've seen other players dodge it the same way that this person did it. It seems that the attack tracks the direction you're moving and locks on to a spot slightly in front of where you're walking, which is probably why you felt like it always tracked you really well. However, once the attack is locked to that position, you're free to turn around and move away, and it won't track you anymore. So as long as you know the timing on when it locks and then walk in the opposite direction, you can easily get out of its range. Check out the videos by Ongbal and Let Me Solo Her, they do it pretty much the same way. She readies the attack, they walk a bit in one direction, then change direction right before she starts her descent.
Confirmed! Gehrman is the most badass boss in Elden Soulsborne games. I always thought it was the most badass line when Gehrman stood up from his chair and says: "Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt" and proceeds to ragdoll our asses. Imagine this man during his prime.
Just say soulsborne. Bloodborne was something new and fresh, so they added borne, but elden ring i think is just a colection of all soulsborne mechanics)😄
@@SlavaUPA Glad someone else mentioned this. The reason I bought Elden Ring was because I thought it was going to be something new. Turns out it's just a copy and paste of most souls games. Which is why I love Bloodborne so much, yes it was still using the same overall formula, but it actually felt unique and new. It had it's own personality.

Bloodhound Step would've looked good on Gehrman though seeing as how he, lorewise, mastered the arcane to dodge F A S T without the use of the Hunter's Bone
Gehrman's score with Malenia's second phase cutscene is in my experience LITERALLY breathtaking and my jaw was WIDE fuckin open, my body actually stopped me from breathing for like 10 seconds involuntarily I thought it was THAT stunning and perfect, as for the fight itself, perfection ❤️🔥
Same, gave me goosebumps. It fits so incredibly well its absolutely beautiful. I don't get how people can play these games without the music. So integral to the storytelling of the fight.
@@danielfuentes2999 Ghermans theme is nice of course but it really doesn’t wether you like it or not🤷♂️. It’s nowhere near the the grandeur and illustrious yet pained nature of Malenias theme. There is also timing isssues but of course it was just edited in and it wasn’t designed for the cutscene. Either way Malenia and her theme completely outclasses him and his.

I knew the key yo avoiding malenia flurry was to roll into it, but I couldn't repeatedly pull it off, so I went for the "run for your life" method instead
I kinda do half and half. I run for my life for the first part, then dodge into it for the second, then dodge around her for the third to mess with the tracking.
@@zsDUGGZ same, she just ALWAYS activates it when I'm about to attack her, so running isn't an option. Also you gotta turn off auto target or else it will fuck with your roll direction.
Bloodborne's ost will always be the best Fromsoft has ever produced. There's just an intensity to a real orchestra that can't be replicated artificially.

my guy, that calm, almost comforting bloodborne ost hit when the flower blooms, followed by the simultaneous hit of the choir and the reveal of malenia's second form was CINEMATIC GENIUS
I can't help but think that this could be canon, but in this way: 7:19 "Your strength... Extraordinary.... The mark of a true lord." There's a hint of peace in the air, the battle has ended. Gehrman looks upon the corpse of Malenia as it begins to shift and writhe. It's visage becoming pale, it's limbs elongate, and the wings become a razor-like piece of gore. It looks at Gehrman, begins to cry, then releases a horrible shriek from it's maw as KOS strikes Gehrman's heart with lightning. Gehrman is shaken awake from his nightmare, and is shunted back into the Hunter's Dream. "Oh.. Laurence... Master Willem... Somebody, please help me. Unshackle me, please anybody. I've had enough of this dream... The night blocks all sight... Oh, somebody, please..." *Gehrman breaks into tears.*

Personally weapons are way better in bloodborne They’re unique and the mechanics to it is amazing Most of Elden ring weapon kinda feels same Not saying it’s bad cause there are some badass ones But bloodborne weapons were astonishingly amazing
Bro what? I love BB but some of yall really have rose tinted glasses when it comes to BB. Next you'll all be saying BB has a wider array of builds and the best PVP next. The changeable weapon arts alone can make the same weapon feel completely different in ER and I'm not even going to get into the unique weapons, the differences in spears, dual blades, Colossals, Katanas and dual wielding etc etc How can somebody go from using greatshields that have attacks themselves with a spear in the other hand so they can poke from behind it to using dual daggers with bloodhound step or even Reduvia weapon art to using bloodhound fang or dual Katanas with ROB or waterfowl and think "wow these all feel kinda the same". Like what were you people doing in ER? Using the claymore with no weapon art and a medium shield the entire game or what?
@@Beyondqqq weapon arts are just special attacks though, and most weapons can share weapon arts only making like 40 weapons unique which still share basic movesets as opposed to bloodborne where every single weapon had 2 different movesets

2:50 - 3:04 is beautiful from an audio visual standpoint. The music and how hopeful it sounds, both illustrates Malenia’s struggle to defend her brother, and Gerhman’s (while still having no hesitation) doubts about all of this. Probably thinking about how pointless the whole fight is, and realizing there is an outer god watching and laughing. Like he could have known her in a past life as a friend, but it’s just how things work. The way the hopeful music cuts off too, gorgeous timing

Does make me wonder how the hunters would fare against the demigods in Elden Ring, lore-wise, given their ability to stand up to and face the Great Ones, who are literal eldritch gods.

Probably not as efficient but using a Greatshield with barricade shield against Malenia felt pretty cool.
Old hunters bone is basically bloodhound step so it would make sense if he were to use it

Seeing Malenia land the Scarlet Aeonia miles away from the player kinda looked sus to me. Specialy since she always tracks on to me on a 100% accuracy.
The fight looks really great and me saying I'm impressed and amazed is such and understatement but her tracking seemed so... off ? Perhaps there's something in her fight that I do not know of.

@@PEEK-A-BOO101 I've seen other players dodge it the same way that this person did it. It seems that the attack tracks the direction you're moving and locks on to a spot slightly in front of where you're walking, which is probably why you felt like it always tracked you really well. However, once the attack is locked to that position, you're free to turn around and move away, and it won't track you anymore. So as long as you know the timing on when it locks and then walk in the opposite direction, you can easily get out of its range.
Check out the videos by Ongbal and Let Me Solo Her, they do it pretty much the same way. She readies the attack, they walk a bit in one direction, then change direction right before she starts her descent.

@@SlavaUPA Glad someone else mentioned this. The reason I bought Elden Ring was because I thought it was going to be something new. Turns out it's just a copy and paste of most souls games.
Which is why I love Bloodborne so much, yes it was still using the same overall formula, but it actually felt unique and new. It had it's own personality.

Gehrman's score with Malenia's second phase cutscene is in my experience LITERALLY breathtaking and my jaw was WIDE fuckin open, my body actually stopped me from breathing for like 10 seconds involuntarily I thought it was THAT stunning and perfect, as for the fight itself, perfection ❤️🔥
Same, gave me goosebumps. It fits so incredibly well its absolutely beautiful. I don't get how people can play these games without the music. So integral to the storytelling of the fight.

There is also timing isssues but of course it was just edited in and it wasn’t designed for the cutscene. Either way Malenia and her theme completely outclasses him and his.

I knew the key yo avoiding malenia flurry was to roll into it, but I couldn't repeatedly pull it off, so I went for the "run for your life" method instead
I kinda do half and half. I run for my life for the first part, then dodge into it for the second, then dodge around her for the third to mess with the tracking.
@@zsDUGGZ same, she just ALWAYS activates it when I'm about to attack her, so running isn't an option. Also you gotta turn off auto target or else it will fuck with your roll direction.

Bloodborne's ost will always be the best Fromsoft has ever produced. There's just an intensity to a real orchestra that can't be replicated artificially.

There's a hint of peace in the air, the battle has ended. Gehrman looks upon the corpse of Malenia as it begins to shift and writhe. It's visage becoming pale, it's limbs elongate, and the wings become a razor-like piece of gore.
It looks at Gehrman, begins to cry, then releases a horrible shriek from it's maw as KOS strikes Gehrman's heart with lightning.
Gehrman is shaken awake from his nightmare, and is shunted back into the Hunter's Dream.
"Oh.. Laurence... Master Willem... Somebody, please help me. Unshackle me, please anybody. I've had enough of this dream... The night blocks all sight... Oh, somebody, please..."

Bro what? I love BB but some of yall really have rose tinted glasses when it comes to BB. Next you'll all be saying BB has a wider array of builds and the best PVP next. The changeable weapon arts alone can make the same weapon feel completely different in ER and I'm not even going to get into the unique weapons, the differences in spears, dual blades, Colossals, Katanas and dual wielding etc etc How can somebody go from using greatshields that have attacks themselves with a spear in the other hand so they can poke from behind it to using dual daggers with bloodhound step or even Reduvia weapon art to using bloodhound fang or dual Katanas with ROB or waterfowl and think "wow these all feel kinda the same". Like what were you people doing in ER? Using the claymore with no weapon art and a medium shield the entire game or what?

2:50 - 3:04 is beautiful from an audio visual standpoint. The music and how hopeful it sounds, both illustrates Malenia’s struggle to defend her brother, and Gerhman’s (while still having no hesitation) doubts about all of this. Probably thinking about how pointless the whole fight is, and realizing there is an outer god watching and laughing. Like he could have known her in a past life as a friend, but it’s just how things work. The way the hopeful music cuts off too, gorgeous timing
