CNG is great alternative if you have a fuel station near you. I don’t think car manufacturers educated people about CNG cars and government barely supported them. However, in countries like India, CNG cars are very popular.
If you have a refueling appliance in your garage or stations in your local community and only drive to & from work, this would be the cleanest & lowest petro footprint vehicle in the world bc you don't need to extract & refine petroleum for octane gasoline, which has environmental & geopolitical effects. NG is already readily available in the U.S. and is a much cleaner fuel.
does anyone know if 2014-2015 cng version (natural gas version) transmission is cvt or just standard classic regular transmission ?? because 2014-2015 gasoline version have a cvt.
@John Reno, the CNG Civics came with 5-speed automatic as standard. The hybrid CIVICs came with CVT as standard. All the research I did indicate that the CNG had auto transmission. Thanks for watching!

@Kevin H.C., thanks for the support! There is a PG&E in Vacaville near Costco. It’s convenient since you can refill there and have plenty of range while in Sacramento. The other one is located at: 5555 Florin Perkins Road, Sacramento, CA 95826. Hopefully this is helpful.
I reside in Sacramento. I fill up my CNG tank for my Dodge Ram van at the Trillium station, in West Sacramento, behind the UPS main facility. In June 2021, the GGE is $2.86/gallon.
Hi Kevin, I live in Pittsburg, California. I have been out to Sacramento a few times, I know that there’s a trillium in West Sac and another one in Dixon.
Is a CNG car more expensive than gas or diesel car? In all my years of car shopping, I’ve never seen one. They should be front and center, advertised like crazy in these times of quickly rising gas prices and optimism for the green new deal that’s against fossil fuels.
@leslie Lucci They could be a little more expensive than gas powered cars but I believe in the used car market, they’re probably cheaper. Getting CNG is a little bit of an inconvenience.
@Organic Intelligence, the car will keep up with modern traffic just fine. It drives and feels like a regular Honda Civic. It is not the fastest but if you weren’t aware that it uses CNG, you would think it’s just a regular Civic.
@Organic Intelligence, it’s nice especially when the fuel prices are so high but I would rather have a regular Civic. Depending on where you live, CNG stations are not conveniently available. You have to plan your driving so you do not get stranded.
@Gene Korin, this Honda was not my car. I just borrowed it for the review. Honda recommended valve adjustment at 30k miles. But I have seen some CNG cars going beyond 45k miles before adjustments because some people wait for them to be noisy.
CNG is the second best combustible fuel, losing only to hydrogen. The problem is that both are difficult to store and transport, and hydrogen leaks through the gaps of the material that contains it, making it weaker. People use CNG because the cost of the equipment is cheap, and the fuel is also cheap. The range of a CNG car is also proof that the central problem with electric cars is not range, nor infrastructure.
@Revoncheap Hydrogen tanks must be replaced periodically for two reasons: Hydrogen embrittlement, which is when hydrogen seeps through the molecules of the tank's material, weakening it; and material fatigue, caused by pressure cycling. CNG tanks work at lower pressures and are not subjected to hydrogen embrittlement (only to lower intensity pressure cycle fatigue), so they last a lot longer (around 20 years), and are cheaper to replace. Automotive LPG/propane tanks are also cheaper.

Very valid point about the design. I'd feel safe calling this the last true civic. No extra nonsense just for looks
