Holy moly! I saw this video a couple weeks ago while preparing for our trip to Scotland and mentioned Lannan to my wife. It was already on her radar as a place to visit. Since you recommended arriving early we did just that, showing up at 7:10am on Sunday morning (this morning, actually). Even getting here almost an hour early, we were in 7th place on line! The wait was fine, chatting with fellow pastry lovers made the time go quickly.
Ok, the point I came to make is thank you! Their pastry are heaven! Go back and get a maple pecan roll you won’t regret it! Edinburgh is gorgeous early in the morning! Thank you again!!
my wife and I will be in Edenburgh in a couple days. This and your other videos have helped us plan where to visit during our trip. Thanks so much.
I heard about Lannan the day after I got home from my Scotland trip and have been kicking myself ever since! Somehow I should have known about it, lol (croissant radar...?) Glad to hear the pastries live up to the hype!
£6.50 a pint? Loathe the owner, loathe Brexit, but i can see why Wetherspoons gets busy. We're in the realm of London prices. Lovely video, by the way.
Thanks for sharing these! Surely visit in wee days! :)
Another amazing video :)
Thank you
Puddings looks fun. Thanks for this video!
Great video, made me hungry! Well done you !!
Great clip! Really enjoyable and informative!
Thank you once again for a great, informative video!! I absolutely can't wait to check these places out, especially puddings, bibimbap and nixos!!
Yay!! Glad you enjoyed it! .)
Another great video! I found your channel when I was looking for recommendations for coffee and food places when I went to Edinburgh with my mum a few weeks ago (I had been before, but 4/5 years ago) and went to a few of the places you mentioned throughout your videos when we happened to be near! 😊 We had an amazing time and I’m going to try and come over to Scotland more often (I currently live in the north of England but train prices are high (also strikes!)Looking forward to more videos!
It's so frustrating that the connections between the North and Scotland aren't more affordable 🥲 I love visiting North of England! Maybe there needs to be some sort of partnership program between the two (or I guess more than that across the two areas) tourism boards!
I'm going to give you a strange compliment, but not one you haven't received. I think your partner and/or husband adds to your videos. He is an addition that is welcomed. Other vloggers often feel that they need to include their other half, and when they do it absolutely takes away from the viewer's experience. I know, shallow, right? Sorry, we have preferences!! You guys do it right!! Thank you. Great content as usual, but I wanted to say that.
❤❤❤❤Thank you. The one with the macha cheese cake
Amazing shots! Leith local and always love watching these to find out about new spots!
Thank you Claire, I really appreciate that! .)
Just stumbled across your videos and they are great! Moved to Edinburgh Jan 2022 and I wish I came across your videos sooner, is all i can say :D
Never too late to binge watch all the older vids on a wet dark evening like the one we’re having today!
The Botanist and Bibimbap both look super cool and I’d love to eat at both! Same with that bakery!
I absolutely love this series, as i can't keep up what's new in Edinburgh! Still waiting for the vegan video ;) Also, I liked how you put adresses under the names of venues before, the map is useful, but it would be great to see where the venue is immediately when you are showing it :)
Aaah yes that is a good piece of feedback! Personally I am totally useless remembering names of streets EVEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, so I assumed it wouldn't add that much value to anyone!
Great video and recommendations! I've only been to Fat Hippo, but can confirm it's a solid choice for burgers. All three coffee places are on my list. Living near Stockbridge, I'm just patiently waiting for the Lannan craze to die down a bit. Pudding's looks interesting and I haven't heard about it before!
I am curious if things are gonna die down a bit at Lannan, but to be fair I am not a Stockbridge local so I can't tell just how much worse it gets regarding visitor foot traffic in the summer!
I will be there in October and I think I will try Lannan and Bibimbap. Although I have noted them all since I will have four days in Edinburgh. Thanks for doing the tasting for us😁
Yeyyy same!
I loved Fat Hippo in Glasgow. One of the best burger places I ever went to. Amazing that it is now also in Edinburgh.
I am so excited to see hojicha cake on a menu!! I've been really missing Japanese desserts so I can't wait to visit. Hopefully they add black sesame treats to the menu if they haven't already
BIG SAME! I did see a black sesame on the menu as a special one time, so hopefully it will come back 🤞
Lannans and Bibimbap are definitely for me.
Is the Coffee Crawler bigger on the inside? 😏😏😏 Always love the Simon cameos. You guys make the best team! 😁😁😁
Like every large touristy city Edinburgh has become over the top expensive in some ways, and it sort of evens itself out at times. I try to stay around the edges of it rather than going into the areas where I'd have to wait for a pastry. That's not going to happen. They do look good, but there are simply too many other places that are both less expensive and as tasty. LOVE the kabobs!! I'm pretty sure I could do those with a great potato something. (and yes, Pudding's is awesome)
Lannan pastries look terrific but I wouldn’t want to wait. Bibimbap though! Despite the city prices, it’s unfortunate that Edinburgh is getting that high, will be an expensive trip next visit over but nice to have all of those varieties around you.
We are making our first trip to Edinburgh in September! I have learned so much from you, so thank you….all that wonderful food! Is there a place I can shop for the beautiful pins you create? Looking forward to seeing your beautiful city, Cindy
Hi Cindy! That’s so nice to hear, happy the videos have been helpful .) my merch can be bought at the Scottish Design Exchange store on George Street! .)
Hey! Although it's not a new place, but I am sure you will enjoy Patina ..their sandwiches are amazing
Is that the one out before one hits the airport? I should give it a go!!
At 2:34 that is Swedish pastry called a bulle or more exactly Kardemumma bulle served usually with coffee through out the day. Btw the one shown in the video looks like it is well made. May have to try give it a try, as I will be in Edinburgh soon.
All around Scandinavia you can find them. In Finland it’s a cinnamon swirl.
Kiitos
Can’t wait to check out Matcha Mind 🤩 I also love your autumnal sweater, where did you get it?
Thank you!! It's from an Australian brand called Princess Highway, and it is a huuuuuge favourite of mine. Always take me to autumn even when it's still... technically summer.... >.>
@@Kakibot thank you so much!! I will check it out, I’m on the hunt for a cozy fair isle and LOVE yours 😊
Coming in Sept, I put on my list the corean and the botanist on my list. Miam thank you for your sacrifice ahahah ;)
Always ready to take a bullet for all my fellow Peeps, especially when the bullet takes the form of a delicious dinner! .D
Did I ever tell you I love your colour style?
£3 for one croissant! Wow, you can get 2 amazing croissants in Parish for that price.
It is unfortunately quite a standard price these days .(
@@Kakibot no, it isn't
Some wonderful good this time! Where else would you all recommend we visit? :)
I'd love an Ethiopian restaurant in the city (unless there is one now and I've managed to miss it?) Injera bread...mmm, sour deliciousness.
You are SPEAKING MY MIND! (Do I get to change my first answer? 😅)
There was an African restaurant called Ndbele in Tollcross which closed in 2008. I never went but myself but think they may have had Ethiopian food.
Is there a time of day where you don't have to wait in a queue for Lannan Bakery?
Uhhhhh.... maybe towards the time they usually run out? Wasn't willing to risk it .D But I think in the next month as 8 am becomes dark and unwelcoming and not fresh and photogenic, people will probably chill out a bit when it comes to queue enthusiasm.
The bibimbap place really calling me back to edinburgh…
Which city has more options for international food, Edinburgh or Glasgow?
Good question! I think at this point it's more or less balanced out - some cuisines are nowhere to be found around Edinburgh (e.g. Ethiopian) but otherwise Edinburgh has access to most cuisines I can think of. Ten years ago the answer would 100% be Glasgow though!!
Place looks great, but honestly there’s no pastry on the face of the earth is worth standing on line 40 minutes!!! 🤯
Yes I’d say that unless someone is Stockbridge based, it’s probably better for everyone involved to find a closer and quieter equivalent 😅 we’re Haymarket based so for us that would be Palmerston, or perhaps Twelve Triangles (or Nice Times for more cake adjacent treats!)
I’m in Stockbridge and we aren’t giving it a go. Too many good pastries in the neighbourhood for that.
Absolutely not! And for £3 you can make your own! Like everything else in Edinburgh it will soon frizzle out.
Hello beautiful women and wenderful People and nice contry
These videos are just not charmingly quirky enough for me...just joking!
Is this you bringing some charming quirk into the comment section? .D
@@Kakibot Unfortunately, I am not on your level! Keep up the great work.
