I'm a local. This is a great coverage of HK but don't forget to check out the incredible hikes!! MacLehose Trail from Saikung, hiking to the Tian Tan Buddha from the Lantau Trail, hiking the Twin Peaks into Stanley, Lion's Rock, etc. The list honestly goes on and on. Enjoy the food, the hike, the people and the views!

Among the many other videos I have came across, this is THE best recording of touristing Hong Kong, what to do, to see, etc., all in a nutshell. (And the only one that captured my attention from begining to finish) Thank you for sharing.

I was in Hong Kong in 1982 as a young U.S. Marine on a ship. We had a week of liberty there. It was under British rule then. I visited Kowloon. Very awesome place and I plan to go back someday.

I first visited HK in 1993. Have visited a few times and most recent was in May 2023. Although busy, congested and chaotic, it has a certain charm which i like. However, i noticed subtle changes over the years. I think i still like the old HK vibes. Bolder, more rude and in your face😂 but it is the character of HK. I hope HK maintains its old charm. I like Cantonese too! Too many Mandarin speaking cities already.

Junk boats are/were not used for carrying garbage. The English name comes from Javanese djong (Malay: adjong), meaning 'ship' or 'large vessel'. Junks were originally developed during the Han Dynasty (220 B.C.E.-200 C.E.) and further evolved to represent one of the most successful ship designs in history. Junks were used both for military combat and for trade, traveling long distances on rough inland rivers and at across the sea. (New World Encyclopedia)

Good video. Just a couple of things; SAR stands for Special Administrative Regional. The Peak Tram is a funicular tram. The Mid-Levels escalator only goes down from 6am till 10am it goes down, after 10am intil midnight it only goes up.

I remember when my brother and I visited Hong Kong about 35 years ago. I was looking at the pet shop and the variety of dogs they had. Out tour guide informed us that it was a butcher. OMG! One evening we were standing by the harbor and just talking. A young couple with 6 children approached us and we had a chat. They were convinced that since we were from the states we would be near Hollywood. Next they asked us if we liked children. Of course I said, then the man asked if I wanted to adopt one of their children and I could make him/her a movie star and he/she could make lots of money to send back to his/her parents to help support them. I cried after the shock wore off. I knew how much the money could help the family. I saw some sad sites there as well as the nice places. I never went there again.

Very nice presentation but I question your explanation of the junk boats. Rather than being named for carrying junk, the word comes from the Chinese word jũng, meaning boat or ship. Throughout history, they have been war ships, trading ships, fishing ships and passenger vessels.
