I am sure that has been going on for several days now. The flip side might be that the copilot went back and that is the last he saw of him. He may have landed thinking he was in the back. It is possible that the cops may never get to the bottom of this.
At first, I would have said this was an accident; the pilot went back to get a better look at the landing gear situation and fell out. But, the remaining pilot was too calm when he radioed, assuming that the other person "jumped" and not fell out while assessing the landing gear. Then again, too much information is missing. Did he say anything like "Keep her steady, I'm gonna go back and take a look at the landing gear" or "F' this, I'm outta here" ? I'm still leaning toward the accident theory.
Why is him jumping or falling the only conclusion, he could've also been pushed out or threatened in some way to cause him to jump. There was another very overly calm person on the plane with him. There's also no proof when the guy jumped off during the pilots emergency call, it could have been well before the call was made. It's still an open book either way and you can't rule out anything.
From the other air accidents I've researched, the idea in these replies makes sense. He was probably trying to confirm visually if the right wheel was gone or if anything else was wrong. That's so terrifying, rest in peace.
They said they lost control of the plane and the plane did a few loops. Could it be possible the pilot and the co pilot got into a scrap and threw him off the place? Although the timing of where the co pilot fell and where the plane looped does not add up. Very suspicious though.
I suspect he fell while trying to figure out the options with a faulty landing wheel. Wonder if the wheel well was open and exposed for him to fall through.
No, there's no passageway from inside the cabin to the wheel wells directly. This is a specific configuration of aircraft although that has a large "jump" door or ramp that opens at the rear. As others have mentioned, he may have been trying to inspect the landing gear from the jump door and slipped or lost his grip. Very sad.
Something is not right about this story..... What is the mystery what does the pilot have to say about this .... Did he jump put of panic ? Did he fall our accidentally how needs much explaining ? Or did the pilot himself push him out ..... Was he dead already before ejecting from the plane. This needs investigating.. If that was my son ..oh yeah big time explaining to do ...he was so young poor kid ....
If you look closely at the plane after it crash landed, you'll see that the rear ramp is open. The co-pilot opened the ramp in flight to get a good look at the wing, landing gear and tail to assess the damage to the aircraft, lost his balance and fell out. It was just a tragic accident.
Jump or fall? If he freak out enough to jump out, he could wait for the plane to be a lot closer to the ground to have a bigger chance to survive, I think that was either murdered or suicidal
He didn't fall, he stood up, and apologized to the pilot who was still flying the plane in a situation which was dicey. He opened the ramp and left the plane it's very sad
How bizarre. My heart goes out tu o his family and to the people who discovered his body. Is the bay where the la ding gear is stored during flight accessible and, if so, is the area arou d the gear large enough for someone to fall through it?
This has been troubling since friday. Today, with recent comments it is suspicious at the least. Was there a third person as some say… ( who) ? Pilot and widow opens a new narrative now. Might want to look into text messages from the two. Story just doesnt add up.
CBS 17 cant report relevant information for a news story if their lives depended on it. Why are we pretending like it’s a mystery what happened when the captain walked away from the incident? If any decision was made for the co-pilot to leave the controls the captain would be fully aware. Also it’s pretty common for jump pilots to wear chutes; though even so and given the nature of the emergency, it’d be pretty ridiculous for the copilot to jump from the aircraft. But why isn’t this brought up? Possibly the co-pilots chute didn’t deploy.
I don’t understand your criticism of the news station. They can’t speculate based on a non-aviator level of knowledge. Waiting until the trained investigators examine this situation makes more journalistic sense. There’s too much amateur rush-to-judgment in infotainment TV these days. This is one example of a station handling it professionally.
If you were to watch a few black box vids, you would hear this same degree of calmness from pilots while they're going through the disaster that would ultimately take their lives. They're simply trained to remain calm.
I feel this was planned... the pilot was too calm. This could be intentional and it should be investigated throughly (or I'm watching too many crime shows).
"""Fix""" what tyre? Apparently the drop zone told him the wheel had fallen off, and that they had found it. So why was he looking to """fix""" the tyre if he knew it wasnt there?? Anyway you try reaching the main undercarriage of a Casa (from anywhere on the plane) while it is flying. You cannot get close to it from within the plane even when it is on the ground. You only need to take one look at a photo to see that.
If this dude jumped he didn't have a screw loose heck no he was missing some screws. I would have played the odds in a landing vs jump out over anything that wasn't deep water and even then that has worse odds than staying on the plane. I think he some how fell out because only someone suicidal would jump out over trees, homes, streets hard ground. Was he suicidal ??? That needs to be considered.
Why would the back cargo door be open? Why would any door be open? He was a pilot and would know you can't observe a wheel while in flight. If he opened a door it was to jump or be thrown out.
The pilot was 27 and very well experienced. This was for skydiving plane so he would have also put on the gear. If someone is killed before put in ocean, they know, so in this case if he was already dead before falling, probably they will know too. But its probably an accident just like only experienced wood workers cut their fingers off with the saw, because beginners are more fearful and careful.
@@timhaskins4737Yes it did go in circles and my best guess is that those are skydive patterns over and around the drop zone. They may be due to something else of course, but that is my guess. There are a few things that do not fit in this thing even without the circles even using the little info that the public has right now. I agree that its not cut and dried by any stretch.
I believe this was a freak accident. The co-pilot may have slipped out accidently while to ascertain the damage to the aircraft.
that's what i was thinking kid maybe saw to many movies and opened a door thinking he could asses the damage
This is right out of some Twilight Zone episode. Plane takes off with two people onboard, lands with one. And the pilot seems nonchalant about that.
Very nonchalant and so did Raleigh Approach!
The other pilot should be interrogated, for he knew exactly what happened.
I agree he said he jumped and he lied why

Yes and why would the pilot say he ran out the back of the plane?!

Guys, what about "Pushed" from the plane? That flight pattern was allover the place.
My thoughts too.
Kind of difficult to imagine a pilot deciding to jump out at any height, especially 3500 ft!
Why would he jump? Why would he even open the door? Was he assisted with his exit??

Totally agree with Darrin. Co-pilot was checking for wheel problem and out he went. What a shame.
