Veteran Pilot Helps 21-Year-Old Land Plane During Emergency

- Twenty-one-year-old student pilot Taylor Hash was about to land her plane when, unbeknownst to her, the nose gear fell off. Veteran pilot Chris Yates saw the nose gear drop from the sky as he landed in Pontiac, Michigan. Air traffic control alerted Hash of the issue and put Yates on the radio to help her. As luck would have it, Taylor is also the name of his daughter, who he taught to fly planes. Yates was able to guide Hash safely through her emergency landing.
They’re both heroes. Him for being so reassuring while guiding her through the emergency landing; her for being able to stay focused and follow his instructions in a deadly situation.
i probably would not call it a deadly situation but scary for a young pilot
@@lemonstraws7940 It could definitely be deadly if the nose came down too soon, with plane going too fast. The plane could flip nose first. Happened before at our local airport.

Aww you can tell when he said, "we're going to be fine kiddo," her voice expressed both her fear and relief like she knew despite the situation she was going to be ok.

I seek out positive stories to lift up my mood and keep my faith in people - this one was fabulous.
There's a similar story with a 17-year-old student pilot, Maggie Taraska, doing her first solo flight. Her right main separated, and her instructor was contacted to help guide her to a safe landing. She did great!

I absolutely love these videos, so heartwarming ❤ What a great job by Taylor to stay calm and focused with his help. Not all heroes wear capes but in this case wear wings. I'm sure this is only the beginning to a life-long friendship. I'm sure they'll take many flights together. His fatherly instinct kicked in and just what Taylor needed to land safely. I love a good story with a happy ending like that.
The palpable relief in her voice when he tells her “You’re gonna be just fine, kiddo” is so moving-you can tell that’s exactly what she needed to hear in that pivotal moment. It just shows how a simple touch of humanity can go a long way. Applause all around for both of them, and for everyone else involved in her safe landing.

I don’t know about you, but that sure look like she earned her wings that day. That was a perfect landing. Any landing you can walk away from is a perfect landing. Imagine being told over the radio by the way, your plane took off and your wheels was left behind. 😂

Bro I'm blind in my left eye but I'm a BEAST in dcs VR. Aside from not being able to feel the 9G's while I'm turning, I feel like I'd be one hell of a fighter pilot. Dogfights aren't what they used to be tho, not with AIM9's and other Long range missiles. Man, I'd love it.

@Inside Edition She didn't lose the nose gear while trying to land, she lost it on rotation (as she was leaving the ground when she took off)
