    After cleaning out cigarette ashes, dank smoke smell and a few months of trial and error with parts I seem to have found a doable consolized Vewlix F setup. There is my ultimate wish that is all this could be done with a push of one button but hey, so far the DIY works.
    I wouldn't have been able to do this without researching all the advice from the community via forum groups and just getting my hands dirty diving in and trying things out.
    Thanks to everyone that create quality products to help keep the candy cabinet enthusiasts community thriving.

    Cool, nice cable management, this is inspiring. For those looking to have both Jamma and Console, another alternative is to connect the brooks in parallel to the Jamma using the Brooks pinheader - save money on the Jammaizer and provide the same end result. Cheers!

    • @MikeyNightchilde
      @MikeyNightchilde  2 года назад +1

      Totally true. I didn't think about that. You could also use one of these Brook Fighting Board Cables that hooks into the pinheader and cut the end of those wires to go parallel into the Jamma harness if you don't want to solder straight into the header. That way you can switch into newer Brook boards when the PS6 or Steam Deck Pro 2 comes out in 2030. www.brookaccessory.com/detail/59387342/

      @@MikeyNightchilde that's more or less what I did, I connected the Brooks to the panel using the Brooks harness, then collected the JAMMA wires in parallel. This way if I connect a console or PC, the Brooks are used. Otherwise, if I connect a jamma board, it works just well. This is the fun part, there are so many ways to do it that it's fun to see how people do and tweak or setups.

    Hey there, I really appreciate you sharing your process and being so transparent in regards to how you customized your cabinet.
    I have a really basic question, but with the 24mm USB hub that you've shown in both videos that replaced your 2p share button: did you do anything specifically to get it to mount into the panel? In the video it looks like there's a thread like it's housed in a push button rim but you took out the plunger but from the link you provided it looks like it's a panel mount that requires screws.

    • @MikeyNightchilde

    Awesome Video . This is very helpful . I recently ordered a Vewlix Black Diamond and want to run some consoles in it. I have a quick question . What is the Nintendo Switch Dock you are using?

    • @MikeyNightchilde
      @MikeyNightchilde  Год назад +1

      Thanks Aaron! I would love to get my hands on a Black Diamond one of these days. As for the Switch dock, it’s the “BASSTOP portable dock replacement”. Basically an empty case where you transfer over all components from the stock dock. The reason why I went this route is because there was a huge issue in the past where a Switch firmware update caused consoles to fry when plugged into a third party dock. So this was the best solution to have a slimmer doc without having to worry about it blowing up because it's the same stock components. Unfortunately, it’s out of stock on Amazon but you may be able to find it somewhere else.
      Just to add if you view my Vewlix Consolized - 2023 video, I now have my Switch laying on it’s side and the dock behind the Taito Amp PCB (I think the Diamond will have the same space) using this extender cable. amz.run/6P4z There’s enough room to put the stock dock behind there if you are looking for alternative solutions to put the console in the cabinet.
      Hope this helps.

    The link for the jamma edge is dead. Also, how did you know which wires went where and how did you get additional buttons from jamma to pair to the extra buttons in the two control boards? Jamma shouldn’t be able to run so many so I’m just confused.

    • @MikeyNightchilde
      @MikeyNightchilde  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for pointing out the bad link. I just updated it so you should be good to go. As far as extra buttons, you will get those directly from the Brook PCB through screw terminals or one of the headers. Look at their specific diagram for the PCB you get. You are correct that JAMMA does not provide all buttons. Look for a JAMMA diagram on what number is what button and then use the specific Brook pcb diagram to figure out the additional buttons. Also, I'm assuming you are using this for Vewlix. If it is already setup for JVS then you can instead just skip JAMMA all together and get this. www.hadouken-arcade.com/collections/hardware/products/vewlix-custom-io by Hadouken Arcade or this arthrimus.com/product/vewlix-console-i-o-v2/ by Artrimus. Then you don't have to rewire your whole setup. Again for the additional buttons, you can just get them direct from our Brook PCB. These did not exist at the time when I made this video. It would have saved a lot of time. Hope this helps.

    Can you explain how you wired up those Brook board power switches?

    • @MikeyNightchilde
      @MikeyNightchilde  Год назад +2

      Hi there,
      Thanks for the question. I've updated and added into the description a link to a USB On / Off Toggle Wiring diagram.
      In my parts list I am utilizing two items. USB On/Off and Rocker Switch. For me I also needed a USB A Male to B Male to connect it to the Brook and a USB A Male to USB A Female to connect to my KVM switch.
      I broke open the USB On/Off casing and cut the 2 power lines connected to its switch. Be sure not to cut the data wires. Keep those intact. In my setup I additionally needed to reach my Subpanel, so I soldered 22 AWG extension wires to each end of the power lines and crimped 6.3mm female terminals on the other ends. Both those terminals fit onto the Rocker Switch's 6.3mm male ends.
      Probably not the most earth friendly approach since I threw out the plastic casing. You could accomplish the same thing with less parts with a regular USB A Male to B Male cable if you can figure out which wire inside holds power.
      Hope this helps.

      Hi @JJiG.
      I have seen this question thrown around in the past about locating an "Empty" cabinet to purchase and I don't think it exists. Unless there's a blank Chewlix available, a Vewlix is going to come 90% equipped.
      Your location is a big factor as well if you are looking to get the best deal on shipping. There are region based vendors that will do group buys to save on shipping costs. You'll have to do some digging. There are great FB groups related to Candy Cabs where the community helps each other with buying and also share a ton of knowledge to get up and running. There's also one specific to Vewlix. They will vouch for good or call out bad sellers. I've seen some vouch for Chinese vendors too. So great resources.
      The arcade-projects forum is another one with tons of knowledge and sellers.
      Good luck.

      @@dnsputsitdown1 Hi there. Glad to help.
      Is there a chance you can elaborate on the routing of your setup? Like Console(PS4) > KVM Switch > Psychic Drive / Brook > JAMMA > Buttons
      First off we need to know which Brook PCB you are working with.
      Start here: www.brookaccessory.com/Fighting%20Board/list.html
      Find your PCB and click MORE. Scroll down on the page and find a Manual Mode or Console Mode list that will show the button config. If you don’t find it on the page you may need to click the User Guide download link.
      Make sure you are correctly routed from your JAMMA harness to each appropriate button and joystick direction with emphasis on the ground correctly connected to each as well.
      Test directly into the PS4 USB without your On/Off Toggle. With the PS4 shut off, unplug the Brook from the console's USB. Turn on the PS4. Once it fully loads the HomePage UI or prompts to ask for a controller, hold down the Console Mode button config you looked up from the Manual, and while holding it down plug the USB back into the PS4. The Brook PCB LED should light up (depending on which one you have, some do not). Now hit your HOME button. You should be good to go from there.
      If this works you should test with the On/Off toggle next.
      Side Note: You mentioned PS5. The PS5 will only work with the Brook UFB PCB + UFB-UP5 combined. I don’t own a PS5 so I have not tried this in my setup. Looking at how this is hooked up you may need to somehow rig wires to the J2 header to hook up to the UP5 since the UFB PCB is plugged in upside down onto the Psychic Drive.
      Hopefully this helps. Let me know how this goes.

      @@MikeyNightchilde Ok So this is where I am at now (btw thanks for all your help thus far). I got the control panel to work using the config on the website. The problem I have now is I can only get it to work by plugging the usb from universal brook boards directly into the front of the ps4 or ps5 and doing the config. When I try to use the toggle method thru the kvm switcher and apply the same order config it does not register the joysticks or buttons. The toggle switches are turning off & on the brooks boards like they are suppose to, but are not registering the control panel joystick & buttons to the ps4 or ps5. I have the on/off toggle switches going from the brooks boards into the tnp hdmi switcher USB1 & USB2 slots. Hdmi coming out the ps4 into the kvm switcher input 1 on backside. Hdmi out from kvm switcher to the input hdmi of extractor. Hdmi out of extractor to monitor. Other issue I have is the ps4 not displaying on the new monitor I installed through the kvm switcher & audio extractor. It will work bypassing those two items though I think for this problem I might have to go with a newer switcher & extractor. For now I'm just using a computer monitor until I get the control panel figured out.
      What I have is the exact same parts that you have minus the new wireless brook board you added. (E Synic 4k HDMI Audio Extractor, Psychic Drive Board, Universal Brook Boards that have been updated, TNP $K HDMI Switcher, Jamma Harness, Toggle switches, Vewlix with 8 buttons, 2 joysticks, and sub control panel unit)

      Hi @@klhone9856
      You can use 1 single USB in on the PS4 for 2 controllers. I have a PS4 Pro which includes a single USB in the back of the console. Makes it clean looking and totally works. Same for Nintendo Switch, Raspberry Pi, PC etc. You should be good to go.
