Great video. When I was 13 I had bought a cheap call from Walmart and I would call quail in like turkey. I'd sit on a fire road behind my parents house and tag a couple with a BB gun. It was amazing to learn their different calls and mimic the babies so the male thinks he's lost some. He will come running in looking for his young.
Thanks Luis! I tuned by by either stretching the rubber band more, then clamping down to keep that tightness on it. The tighter the rubber band, the higher the pitch. The more slack the band, the lower the pitch. I basically found what sounded right to me and tightened it down to fix it in place
@@JonHoan contact me… I’m opening a game preserve in Southern California. You can shoot pigeons year round and quail in season. Large luxury trailer to stay in. All dogs are welcome. Bring the whole family.
@@PariahQuail Hello Auntie Social Media, I live in Moreno Valley and love to get info on your game preserve in SoCal. Please get back with me... I'm looking forward to this season.
@@JonHoan I can recommend the man I got my puppy from. A lovely Birdy dog that is sweet with people. I believe her sister is still available. I have wirehairs but any German pointer is good

I had no idea you could call them in! I’ve simply used it as a locator
I had no idea you could call them in! I’d like to try this
Have a family of quail in my backyard, just played this and the male just answered back 😆🙌
LOL! That's awesome!
Great video! I will make mine soon
I'd love to see your version! Let me know how it turns out!
@ I definitely will! Lost mine this past hunt so we need a new one
I raise quails in Minnesota, and I too want to create a you tube retirement plan 👍thank you for the tips and good luck 👍
Hah! I’m made to win the lottery
Thank you for making this video! I'm going to try to make one.
No prob! Let me know how it goes
Nice job. I can't seem to find anyone calling in Bob Whites. I miss CA quail hunting.
I haven’t called any in but it’s helpful to find if they’re in the neighborhood. I’d love to expand my quail quest at some point
This is super cool, I'm still having issues on how you "tuned" it. Also, would there be a way you can take pictures of the final product?

Good video, what kind of wood, I made one out of bamboo 🎍 when I was a kid
I used dark walnut, purely for aesthetics
You can go hunting in your backyard haha
I wish! It’s a state park and no discharge of firearms in the city

Why don’t you have pointers? They’re super quiet.
I’ve never hunted behind dogs. Would love to try. We’ve always adopted our dogs and they skew older and gun shy. Would love to adopt one that isn’t

@@JonHoan oh and same breeder hunts his dogs so they are not gun shy and puppies are not expensive

Doesn’t show where he is doing any step, VERY INCOMPLETE;
