Hi there, I really enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work. You got a nice looking dog as well. I just ordered one of your calls off of Etsy and I cannot wait to get it. Thank you.
Hey thank you. Should go out today. It's a great year for quail and upland birds this year so good luck should be able to do good lots of places with or without a dog.
Just got mine in the mail from you man! Wife laughed at me when I tried to use it! Practice yeah… haha I live right I n big bear and plan on hunting Lacerne valley. Appreciate it!
I have struggled with quail in Arizona, they're everywhere but I always seem to spook them right out of range. I've often heard that Quail is best hunted with multiple hunters but I'm often solo unless my brother-in-law chooses to come and we've had some success nothing like dove season though.
I have less experience with gambels but when I have hunted them they like to run away more. Singles and pairs will start to peel off from the main group until it seems like the covey you were chasing disappeared. At that point hunt back to where you started and try to find the individual birds holding. This was in CA where the cover was less dense. In AZ on average I think the cover is thicker and would expect them to hold more. Maybe try to work them toward thicker spots where they are more likely to hold instead of run.
@@TheRoamingHazard They do tend to run quite a bit, I see and hear tons of them. I was thinking of switch to my pellet gun for increased range this season. I usually get a few but I never limit out. I will try your call for sure.
i just received one of your calls. Really cool! Thanks. I will look myself but do you have any experience with Scaled or Mearns quail. Heading to New Mexico in November for gambels, scaled and Mearns. TIA
I have some nicer ones ready. For some reason there has been an error with some of the listings not showing. If you want you may email me or DM on IG and I'll help you out.
Beautiful video, I live High Desert 🏜️ California, 1800ft. 50 years. I call them CA. Quail, I guess they are Valley Quail, I Tons All over my property, I don't Hunt them anymore. I'm Curious I used an old 20 gu. Featherlight, 26" barrel IC choke , Always wished I had a Mod. Please tell me what is Optimal
Over here in Kingman, Arizona we have several coveys of Gambel quail in the acreage next to our house. We feed during the spring and summer, but they still show up in separate groups morning and evening. It would be fun to see if they respond to your call. Everything looks to be sold out. When might you be selling calls again ?
Yes. I sold out of all the basic walnut calls so will be getting more wood and have been working on some nicer calls. Want to get a good amount done before I put the up on the site.
What do you think about a 2 toned call? I would assume you are using some sort of Forster bit to cut out the chamber, would it be effective to cut out the chamber at a 1% bevel (or so)? One side would have a more throaty and deeper pitch then the other side? Thanks for the great vids, introduction the the nevada water development map and the quick shipping on your calls. A few of those guzzlers are just above the grocery store I shop at outside Reno. Now I just love grocery shopping. Cheers.. Daniel
I've not experimented with tilting the chamber to see if it makes a difference. Could probably just do one on the 3d printer to experiment with. The 2 tone calls that have 2 reeds for each valley and gambels quail I think are a gimmick. It's just a call with 2 different pitched quails. The quails have different tone voices between individuals anyways. I don't find enough pitch difference between the two different types that would be needed. Have a mountain quail whistle integrated is nice but I can also just do that call with my mouth pretty good.
I can make one of those but im lazy so i would rather buy one from you, ive been watching tour videos and been a subscriber for a while now, so can i get some info on how to buy one from you?
Are those similar to bob white? I don't know. The quail on the west over here are valley gambels and scaled which this call can be used for. And Mountain Quail which I use the cheap 6 in 1 duck whistle calls for.
We're interested in buying one of your calls but are unfamiliar with DM and IG. We've never done instagram. Is DM the same as our text messaging app on our phone? Thanks
Just to kill them, the helpless.
This same dumb comment could be said about your video on how to kill mice.
Gathering dinner... Beats going to get toxic groceries from the store. Stay Vigilant, heads on a swivel.
And EAT them! Yum yum yum
you are probably the greatest channel any socal upland hunter could ever ask for...thank you for the effort you put into this

Super good instructional Video...will be placing an order and looking forward to your future hunting vids.

Beautiful calls man I would get one for sure but I'm in north west Oregon and mainly hunt mtn quail.
Any plan to sell more of these again? Etsy said there are zero items, but I'd love to buy one!

I do not yet. The call should work with scaled quail and gambels of course. Mearns I believe do a whistle sound more like mountains or bob whites
Just checking in again. When do you resume production ? Thanks Happy New Year !
