    Someone (besides my male friends) finally agrees with/understands me on the “Males and females CAN be friends!” argument!! 👏🏻
    Also, totally am on your side with the pairing of Ron and Heromine along with Harry and Ginny.
    And hooray for Lupin love! ❤️
    I liked him from his very first scene on the Hogwarts Express until the end!

    I feel like the Umbridge v.s. Voldemort is very similar to the Snow v.s. Alma Coin,both Snow and Voldemort know that they’re evil and they don’t try to hide it. But with Umbridge and Coin they act all innocent even though they are just as bad.

    About the love potion: I understand this is a FICTIONAL world, with fantasy in it, and I get that Tom Riddle was created by JK Rowling to be inherently evil, but the excuse she created for that is pretty lazy and conflicting: "He wasn't conceived by love, therefore he's born evil".
    Am I the only one who finds many problems with that?
    I get that it wasn't exactly the not-true-love aspect of it, but rather the effects of the love potion itself, but that creates more problems within the HP world: How many people in it have had children while under the love potion's effect? Does that mean that all those children were born incapable of feeling love? Even if they were raised in a loving family? Wouldn't that cause a controversy within the Wizarding World, causing every love potion to be banned so to prevent more evil people from being born? WHY are love potions still being sold if people agree that it creates fake feelings!!??
    We all know that in real life, if a person is born from parents who don't love each other, that won't make them inherently evil. That's not how bad people truly come to be.
    Worst of all, it completely undermines Dumbledore's quote about how our decisions are what define who we are. Saying that Tom Riddle became evil not because of his decisions, but because of something that dictated his birth, SOMETHING OUT OF HIS HANDS, kinda ruins the message, don't you think?

    I totally agree with you on the Umbridge thing, I think that the fact that she took a fancy to Slytherin's locket says a lot about her personality. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione wore it it enhanced their bad thoughts and Harry couldn't even cast a patronus. Umbridge on the other hand used it to enhance her blood status, reveled in interrogating muggle borns, and her patronus was strong and glowing with contentment. Wearing a piece of Voldemort's soul around her neck literally had no adverse effects on her at all, and if that doesn't show how evil she is, I don't know what does.

    LOL. Hello again. I'm behind you almost 100% on this rant. Haven't read the books, but movie wise Ron and Hermione do match. Also, Harry and Luna are the best match, but Jenny is a close second. And thank God someone pointed out how Evil Umbridge really is. Voldermort is pure in his evil, but she is a true snake in the grass. Finally - All Hail Mario Kart!

    Was blind but now I see. Time Traveler Ally said it best: males and females CAN be just friends! With everyone jockeying for relationships, it's the friendship between all 3 of them (Ron, Harry. and Hermione) that drives the stories. Maybe Ron and Hermione SHOULDN'T have got together, because it was the bonds of friendship that defeated the Dark.

    Hey Geek Apprentice, just watched your video, I agree with 90% of this and very well said and explained with your true Ravenclaw wisdom and I listened and observed like a true patient Hufflepuff. I'm reading all the books again and I am definitely feeling the good reread value. You're spot on about Giny, correct about Ron too. My personal favouite is Luna :)
    You're also right about Snape (Brilliant story arc and twist but does not excuse him) And finally like you said hating Umbridge more is quite common among fans. Voldermort is just fascnating. They should have made prequels about him. I really enjoyed your video take care 😊

    She's a good writer , I wish she'd write new stories with more diversity, be it her Cormoran Strike series or brand new stories, outside of Wizarding. Or if she had to include, write about Ilvermony, Mahoutokoro, etc.
    I think the original 7 books and the first Fantastic Beasts are an inspiration to an entire generation. However, every community deserves characters that look like them, and they deserve *original* plot and characters, not hand me down characters.

  • @lucyhalpern3199

    I was arguing with my mom about Snape today before I saw this video. His boo-hoo backstory didn't give him any right to emotionally damage a child so severely(Neville) that he became his worst fear, especially in a fantasy world with terrifying dangers and people. His also had no right to blatantly favor a group of children. Snape never should have been left alone in a room with children. I said what I said.

    • @scarol17
      @scarol17 3 года назад

      People take Snape way too seriously. The narrative of Harry Potter is biased towards how Harry thinks so he paints him/anyone he dislikes as more negative that what they are, Snape was liked by the Slytherin students and by other teachers. Also, the boggart is situational, Hermione's boggart was her failing grades, do you really think that's what terrified her?

    • @lucyhalpern3199
      @lucyhalpern3199 3 года назад

      @@scarol17 Sure, except Snape wasn't liked by any of the other teachers. They kept him around because they trusted Dumbledore, and Dumbledore kept him around to spy on Voldemort and keep Harry safe. He was also only liked by the students who benefited from his favoritism and bullying. And yes, I do think that Hermione's biggest fear was failing. I think that she was terrified of no longer being the perfect student. Lots of people have anxiety and other issues that make them incredibly scared of things like that. I could definitely be wrong, but that's how I see it.

    Here is my opinions on your opinions 🥳 1. YES!!!! She try’s to seem woke and it just makes a fool of herself. 2. YES YES YES!!!!! Now I’m a huge romione shipper, but even if I wasn’t i could find so much evidence why they work. Ron is highly underrated in the fandom. Ron and Hermione’s character growth led up to them being a couple. 3. Harry and Ginny always complement each other so well, the movies did them dirty! 4. Lupin is definitely my favorite as well. I never understood the hype for Sirius, I don’t hate him. But he was very immature when he got older and I thought Hagrid was a better father figure 5. YES! Adult bullies should never be romanized. Bullying children is never ok. I love his character as well, but fans think you have to like him as a person. As someone who’s been bullied, of course I don’t like the person, but I’ve gotten over it. 6. I never can decide who I hate more. I think the fact that everyone as a Umbridge in their life helps everyone hate her more.

    I honestly agree with all… perhaps with the exception of Sirius but it is purely emotional as he is my favorite character ( not just because he is portrayed by Gary Oldman). I have always thought my fascination with these books eventually fixed an idea of friendship in my head and the best representative of the friendship told over and over again in the books was in my opinion James and Sirius. I have felt worse for him than I have for the rest of the marauders but to be fair Lupin was not better off. The fact that he was sentenced to prison where his soul was sucked out of him for 12 years on a crime which he did not commit was hard to swallow. Even more so when the crime mentioned was betraying his best friend- no more like brother in favor of the vicious evil who is known today as He Who Must Not Be Named. The other part is that he was born into wealth, into an aristocratic family but he still refused the bond of family over his own morality which he began to possess all on his own. I as a fan have never hated Draco and understood him at some points and why he did what he did but Sirius was the example of what one is born and of what one grows up to be. He was a complex, chaotic and considerably a pitiful character so he became my favorite.
    But with the rest I agree especially the one with Joanne adding her piece of mind at every possible place without a second thought. ( The cursed child was the worst and although it was a great experience in theater it should not be counted as canon.)
    Ps. I absolutely loved your thoughts and how you expressed them on the hunger games and was lucky enough to find your channel after reading the prequel Suzanne Collins published. You are great, and if people do not understand what opinions actually are.. well lets just say it is not obligatory for you to explain it to them.

    I like to think that with Snape, J.K gives us an insight into what made him the way that he is, an INSIGHT! It should not be excusing ANY of his actions, all its doing is giving a background, not excuse. Well it should be. Snape is not amazing just because he has had a few rough times. Snape is *NOT* a hero.

    Eh, get ready because here I come with the wordiest response ever.
    I agree with you on most things, with the exception of Sirius being my favourite Marauder. I like him because he isn't mature, I think, since I see many parallels between him and myself, being rebels and leaving our bigoted family values behind and frankly, the motorcycle sealed the deal for me. I'm certain that the Black family put much pressure on Sirius growing up since he was the heir and Regulus the spare, until the former's entry to Gryffindor House, that is. Upper-class families tend to drown their kids in various expectations, oftentimes to save face in social circles, so Sirius wouldn't be exempt from that in the Wizarding World's possibly most bigoted and blood-fanatic family, leading to him severing ties the moment he could. I think Sirius is forever trapped: first at home, then in the first War, then in Azkaban, and after that in the second War, up until his death. The only freedom he has ever known was in Hogwarts and he was as immature as he could be there, playing pranks on people and enjoying the camaraderie with James and Remus and even Peter. I always imagined Peter grew resentful because of Sirius and James being as close as brothers, Sirius putting Remus up on a pedestal and Remus being more understanding towards Sirius than anyone else, so Peter felt left out and it was then easier to convince himself to give them up to save his own hide. My own headcanon, obviously, but it makes sense. Also, I love Sirius, he's my favourite in everything. He's the only character I've written fanfiction about. He's also the only one that would break or make fanfiction for me because people tend to oversimplify him into a womanizer figure of little complexity or a flaming homosexual with no care for anyone except Remus. There is so much more to him than that.
    Oh dear, I'm rambling, sorry, I'll leave it there.
    Harry and Ginny work better not because Harry sees Hermione as a sister but because Ginny has more in common with him, including an affinity for Quidditch and the same traumatic experience of their childhood forever marred by Voldemort's intimate possession of them. Ginny even points it out in the fifth book and Harry feels like an idiot for forgetting it. Granted, Ginny is less involved than Hermione in the Trio's adventures but she shows a yearning for independence, observed in her clashes with Molly, same as Harry. Funny thing is the actress, Bonnie looks very similar to the actress playing Harry's mother, as well. That's some Oedipus complex, Harry.
    Ron and Hermione, as you say, complement each other. It's not merely an opposites attract situation but a genuine partnership with those two. They grow into their roles as Harry's pillars of support, Ron with his humanity and sincerity, Hermione with her knowledge and loyalty. To be frank, I shipped them since Hermione's comment on the dirt on Ron's nose, so I'm biased here, but it's organic and one of the best things Rowling has managed in the series. I hate how Ron is turned into this comic relief and Hermione into this encyclopedic robot in the films, but the art direction is pretty solid, at least.
    Overall, while the shipping is unfortunately rarely something people will agree on because people will always reflect their preferences onto their favourite characters, something I too am guilty of, I don't think the rest of your opinions expressed here are unpopular, especially the ones about Jo's treatment of the franchise. Most Potterheads I know absolutely loathe Cursed Child and her unnecessary and inexplicably absurd additions to the Wizarding World -- wizards Vanishing their own waste? Really? Nagini turning out to be a cursed woman? There is something to be said about leaving things well enough, but I fear that's not something Jo will ever be able to do. She'll keep adding stuff into HPverse till she dies, I'm sure, not because she sincerely wants to continue her worldbuilding but because of her incessant need to remain relevant in this ludicrous world filled with people whose short-attention spans keep getting shorter. I sound like Great Aunt Muriel here but it's true, isn't it?
    This is the first video of yours I've watched so I don't know if you've one on this, but what's your opinion on the differences between the films and the books? What do you think is the worst, most character breaking addition in the films?
