Danny Gatton comes out near the end to jam on Lonnie's big hit "Wham!"
Another from The Beta-Max Masters Collection*
*as I recall, Lonnie's manager came up after the show and demanded the tape. I gave him Dave's VHS tape but never mentioned the Beta-Max!
The ole boy played my wedding reception on 7-3-82 in Sayler Park Ohio.
I was there
Jeff mcadams
Lonny Mack and Denzil "Dumpy" Rice, primal forces on stage..RIP Gentlemen, truly missed but not forgotten.
Oh it was Dumpy. I called him shorty in a comment. Thanks for reminding me! Sat and talked with him one night when the bar closed and played pitch with these wonderful Men.
I've got one of Dumpy's 45's ...a Cincinnati legend
Dumpy rice is such dam good piano player
Nebisco's Oreo cookie guy..Lonnie Mack..What a legend..Wow..amazing blue's and rock n roll guitar player and singer....Are you with me?
Love his guitar work, not big on his singing though.I don't think his voice is that great.
Lonnie was the Man! Just ask Stevie Ray!🎸
@@spiderreed350 you have to listen to his early records from the early 1960s. He was a blue eyed soul pioneer. His 1963 “Wham Of That Memphis Man”, and 1969 “Glad I’m In The Band” really showcases his vocal capabilities.
@@spiderreed350 eh not everyone like the same things I don’t like death core music also this video doesn’t show Lonnie’s voice too well listen to a recording like satisfy suzie
@@spiderreed350not that great ? His voice is just perfect for the blues . Just my opinion ..
Lonnie Mack has it going on..fantastic guitar player
There will never be another LONNIE MACK!.........OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!...........
When you need some lonnie mack you need some lonnie mack thank you sir
Was there Lonnie & his ganf. He was such a good friend. I miss him dearly
Best thing my oldest brother ever did for me was turning me on to Lonnie back in the 60s. First thing I do when I get drunk is play Hound Dog Man!
Outstanding! Best quality live show so far. Lonnie Mack was the original guitar God.
Er...no, that would be Chuck Berry. Lonnie was a beast tho, and was the guy who influenced Rev. Billy of ZZ Top. I remember seeing him at the Whisky on Sunset Blvd back in '66. He played 'Honky Tonk'. It was mind blowing.
That's Dumpy Rice on the electric piano.. so glad you posted this! AWESOME.
Is he still alive?
@@petejames9366 No, he is not.
Dumpy's the shit, smooth as they come, can tell he was influenced by Jerry Lee Lewis for sure.
You had to be there! Lots of gig bands popped up in the late 50's/60's. But, the magic buzz word Lonnie Mack, reverberated far and deep over these Ohio Valley Hills. I was with another band, The Citations, by which Lonnie and I came to know one another. Came to learn that he liked my style, which was solid, hard an loud. Drums weren't mixed in those days and his playing nearly demanded it. As such he occasionally, if not frequently called on me to sub. It was a seminole achievement in my life that I will always carry. What's more, he was a wonderful cat,, by any measure. Like I said, you had to be there and if you were, we are blessed. 8:51 8:51 8:51

Stevie Ray said and I quote "he's the baddest guitar player I know". Stevie produced Lonnie's album " Strke Like Lightening". Satisy Suzzie is the second cut on it.

Thx for posting this awsome stuff. Lonnie Mack , a true musical legend. Way more important and better than most any big name you can think of. God knows he was for real.
All is said in the comments below
Lonnie Mack was ahead of all others in the early 60's
great upload.....love the song Stop
Bless him, he was brilliant
Danny & Lonnie - 2 MONSTER Singing Blues/Rock electric guitarists, two of the best Ever, up there with Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix, and Terry Kath .....
Terrific!👍🏻🎸
Whoever disliked this is mentally disturbed ! And I miss Danny .
Two people here can't do that.
Thanks for much for sharing this. This is one of the best- showing what Lonnie could do.
Can imagine how he inspired SRV and many other blues rockers in his wake. Lonnie Mack and Freddy King are my two favorite old school blues rock giants.
Perfection lie's right at Lonnie Mack's fingertips..That guitar doesn't miss a cord....what a singer and songwriter he is..could listen all day..all night long...
Danny Gatton...awesome....what a loss....
The Mac attack!
Thanks for sharing! Sounds really good too.
Wow, he's good! Underrated, too. Seems like he didn't get the publicity he deserved.
Awesome... RIP... Legend...
Great band along with Stevie's Ray Vaughan
Thx Mark.
I remember being blown away when Memphis and Wham came out, but I never heard Lonnie Mack again until a few minutes ago. A god before Clapton.
he used to play in the bars around my hometown and he was mindblowing . I once smoked a joint with him in my van in the parking lot haha
I saw Mr Mack and the same keyboardist in a tiny club in Richmond around that time. Might have been 50 people there. But a great show, Has me wondering if I saw him the night before or after this show as they toured.
You done done da right thing - been treated like that many times. Great work.
This is awesome.
Seen him twice once opening for Stevie and once headlining he's one of the best guitar player you could ever see Dumpy Rice and Jeff McAllister on drums stand out also
Lonnie could really use that twang bar !
Way to go on fooling that manager...a document for the ages!
A hometown guy, I would see him around from time to time, he was just another guy. R.IP.
thanks for sharing love it
Check out Lonnies guitar work on Annie had a baby. Nobody could phrase like Lonnie.
Legend. Nice Upload. Thanks.
Mack is a purely posional player in G he's playing licks at the 3rd and 15th fret exclusively, while Gatton is a horizontal player meaning at any fret at any time he's got good notes for G but if he hits a bad note he can "pedal steel" it into a good note! I've seen him live do that at blazing breakneck speed just drop in a pedal steeled note up to a good G note! He was just unbelievable and even better when challenged he rose til the other guy had to concede!
Did you notice the pedal boards? Neither did I. Not needed here.
Lonnie's tone is clearly effected... heavy reverb and a Leslie cab type effect.
Play that piano Dump aka: Dumpy. What nice guys.
He was so sexy himself!
Happy New Year...2020...
Suuuuperrrrr!!!!!
SRV borrowed the rhythm for "Willey the Whimp" from Lonnie's " Satisfy Susy "...it's the same rythum.(9.00)...
Love that these vids are available.
If I wasn't mistaken, Lonnie Mack was testing a tele when I was shopping for my Strat in Guitar Center on Sunset (c1993).
All other chancers were trying van Halen runs, but this guy was doing something else. I had to go and see who!
Nobody did lt like. Lonnie and Stevie did it Damon seals
Stevie just cannot get this sound on a Fender guitar. That is why they call it " The attack of the killer V ".
I want that hat or one like it. Don't know what the style is????
!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic. Great band too! Who are the players?
Dumpy rice on keyboard
AYE AYE AYE SOOOO GOOD 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Traynor bass amp?
Owe..
too bad that Danny and Lonnie's guitar solos aren't turned up loud enough, esp. Danny's. Shit sound person ?
The flying V was a big disappointment , after all these years ,you haven't learned there is only one guitar , A TELECASTER
