Kevin‘s pretty upset I guess... he already made more accounts to dislike it. The other ones are the Ponds, the band that accompanies him on stage, Kevin for sure sent them.
It's so close, but to truly emulate the Nangs patch, the LFO needs to be a rising sawtooth shape rather than triangle like the Juno has. If you're looking to emulate it all the way, this is the one thing missing from the video! The 106 can't do it though, you would likely need to use a software synth like Serum with a custom LFO shape.
The actual patch he used on the album is “Greek Power” from the jv-1080, with an lfo added. You can hear the same patch without the lfo on other songs like Reality In Motion and Yes I’m Changing
hey man, im trying this on the TAL plugin and struggling (new to synths), is it cause im not using a reverb? The LFO control differences are throwing me off too even though i've been playing around with it for a while now. Any help would be appreciated man

Merh_ 1041 I run a cable from each of the two outputs of the Juno 106 into two separate channels on the focusrite. Select your interface within your daw settings and that’s about it
Just to be really annoying (not that this matters) the init state you started from would actually have the HPF setting at 1 - that's actually the off position for the HPF, and 0 is a special mode where it actually boosts the bass frequencies! With that said, that setting is half the charm of the 106 pads when used with that monstrous sub-oscillator, so as I say it really doesn't matter :D
@@Kyle-fj2zq It 100% does!! The only time I'll set it higher is to sit better in a mix live, I'd rather just keep it at 0 and EQ it otherwise. Sorry, I forgot to say but I love your video by the way! As others have said it is honestly one of the easiest demonstrations of how to build sounds easily from scratch, and I liked how careful you were in setting the parameters using your ear :)
great job on dialing that in, however nangs as well as most of the synth sounds on the currents album was recorded with the Roland JV1080, nangs specifically was made with the "Greek Power" preset on the JV1080. though you could say the JV1080 is trying to sound like a Juno106. Vid Jenko It does sound that way, but the juno 106 doesn't have that feature onboard, so I think it might be an external effect. Or a different synth altogether on the record. who knows
Oh I get what you mean, so no, the reason the lfo sounds like a saw at some time it’s because Kevin in actually randomly messing maybe with the lfo shape at sometimes to make it sound choppy and not as nice and round as the sine wave lfo
@@Kyle-fj2zq the patch is called Greek Power on the JV-1080 rackmount synth with a reverse saw LFO. No Juno involved aside from the leads later in the song. mystery solved

@@Kyle-fj2zq thank you I really appreciate it. Are there any good alternatives you recommend? My favourite abour the Juno is having all of the controls right in front of you to use and mess with.
Could’ve been two ways, simple way is by sustaining chords with a sustain pedal and then using the filter, other way is by using midi to trigger the 106, which has midi, and then controlling the filter.
@@NakedTangelo I did have one voice chip die on me, but I just removed the circuit board and sent it to a tech. If you are comfortable with a soldering iron, you can do it yourself
Yep. Set the reface to poly mode. Set the octave switch to zero. Assign LFO to the filter (lfo depth at 6, speed around 4). Use sawtooth waveform with the texture set to 10. Lower the cutoff to about 3.3 and raise the resonance to 2. Set the EG slider to about 8. In the ADSR section, keep the attack at 0, decay at 5.5, sustain at 10, and release at 5. Use some chorus with both depth and rate around 3. That should get you pretty close
