How to make LO-FI house - juno 106 + TR-707

- How to make a 3 minutes track in 3 minutes with one hand and no presets :-(
I used a Roland TR-707 and a Roland Juno-106 direct in to Ableton Live. The controller is a Novation Launch Control!
the only i thing i can afford in this video is the vibe
You don't need any of these things to make this track. You can spend 10% of the money and get similar results...and 90% more time.
@@IngoGarza ahah i know, i was just joking around and appreciating his tools that's all :)
I can relate
What’s so great about today, is every one of the classic instruments in the video are available as software emulations, or samples, that are really good, and don’t have 40 year old electronics in them, that DO break down right about 40 years out.
The thing I miss in those are the knobs, the faders, the buttons, all there in front of you.
So, when I got the Arturia legacy synth package, and got their KeyLab controller, so I have nice, fat faders and knobs, that act just as the control on the synths. Even with the keyboard, the whole software package plus the keyboard was less than getting a Juno 106, or a TR707. way less.
Go ahead, just save money and get the vintage Roland Juno, Jupiter, JX and SH real analog synths. Not cheap software, but the actual 1980's originals. You'll love them!
and i'm out here with my hammer and nails ready to build a lo-fi house
😂🙏🏻
This is like the best comment on RUclips in its entirety
Forming so LoFi Tilt Panels at the moment
@@SnowUltra his hammer has that swing
😂
RUclips algorithm did a good thing. Love the chords and bass.
thanks! I'm not responsible for the algorithm tho but I'm glad you liked it! please share this somewhere and I will try to do more in this style 🎹
It never began for you
it's over
Get this man a GoPro so he can unlock his second hand

hi-fi house
@@axlmurman1 XD
ahahahhahahahaha
One of the best "against the clock" I've ever seen. So inspiring I subbed immediately!
thanks for your kind words!
@Funk Boii add the making of the track in 10 minutes. Axl just hold himself a record.
The entire track was made with one hand, talent!
You forgot to add that it was done in less than 3 minutes
in 3 minutes you made a better track than what radios play 90% of time
I love it, for me the best tracks come from uncomplicated foundations , just layer upon layer of nice sounds that work together , some nice simple minor 7th chords on a juno sound awesome.
This is why house is amazing
wow thank you!
algorithm brought me here, jealous of the 106
"how to make lofi house"
First use $3000 worth of vintage gear, then run it through a plugin that intentionally makes it all sound bad
707 and 106 aren't anything special, you can just as easily do this with a TR8 and a Boutique Juno for $400 in hardware, or use samples and a free VST and do it for $0 in software.
download ableton or fruity loops and some samples, learn how to use a low pass filter, and you’re there
@@regularchickens Do you mean "learn how to use a lowpass filter" as in try experiment with a lowpass filter to make things sound more lo-fi?
That's like suggesting someone to read a pdf version of a book. Not entirely the same thing.
Even in terms of the creation process/improv the two things are worlds apart.
Nowadays you see ableton youtuber going on and on about filters, compressors, sidechaining, specific sound recreations, frequency spectrums blabla. I am from a time where you plug a bunch of machines on an 8 track and just go crazy.
@@HERiTAGE-ew7pf That's fine. Most people just can't afford a Juno or a 707 as of today though haha
when youtube suggestions dry up i come back here for a reminder of whats possible, made in minutes and one of my favourite musical pieces of all time, please make a full track for this and go on spotify bro !!
Those transitions were clean
well I'm off, be back in about 3 hours when I'm crying about my failed lofi track
how did it go g?
:/ no, you will have fun and that's all that matters 🎹
@@axlmurman1 you know what, I did have fun, the track was absolute garbage, but yeah, was fun to make
from a recommended video, to one of my favorite videos I watch daily.
awesome jam man.
wow... great work!
thanks!!!
Probably the best song i have heard in a while , not kidding. It's awsome!
thank you!!!
I came here expecting a serious tutorial.
But what actually I saw was much better.
Still listening to this song!! Is there a full version of this track?? I need the full track in my lifee ;))
I dig your process! I am definitely trying this.
Damn good! Has that old school Chicago house vibe!
I don’t get how you make the Juno multitimbral like this. First I thought you were recording the audio in Ableton, but then you change the filter cutoff on the chords, how?
it's just ableton with a looper and a low pass filter on each track!
@@axlmurman1 ah the filter is on the audio track. Could have thought of that. Sounds great though!
This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips. It’s so good!
wow thank you so much!!!
Yooo bro nice job! 1 year later RUclips gives you what you deserve dude!!!
The music is so great even the camera is vibin.
Wooooooow what a song and so much practice needed to perfect this I say Bravo mon ami
Absolutely incredible! Love your work, keep it up brother!
thank you so much!!!

I used to have a Juno 106 years ago. It was like new and I sold it for about £200. Now they cost nearly ten times that.
noooo :(( you should keep it, never sell roland gear!!
Woah. 106 years ago is a lot. I hope your Juno is ok.
holy shit this sounds amazing
that pad patch is nice
chords if anyone's wondering: Fmaj7, Am7, Bbmaj7, Dm7
xaxax thank you!!! someone else asked but I wasn't 100% sure about the Bbmaj7 lol 🤪
Excellent work amigo
oh yes that third chord *spicy*
inverted BbMaj7?
and it was hard to catch where the 2 and 4 was in all that drum groove processing but when you finally wrapped it all up with the kick and we got the full groove i got a stank face. thank you youtube
haha thanks! yes, I think you are right is's Bb maj7 in some inverted way..
Yep that's a Bbmaj7/F until the bass comes in, then it's just a Bbmaj7.
Though my jazz piano eyes thought it was a Gm9 with no bass before, well, the bass. That is the same thing though. I guess its just more common to see the 9 and 3 in a m9 right next to each other when compared to the 7 & 1 in a maj7.

@@RubberWeedLeaf not trying to be pretentious sorry just sharing love of the theory!!
@@RubberWeedLeaf Maybe you'll learn to read some day!
I think the title of this should have been: “How to make a Lo-Fi House beat? ...hold my beer...”
I love me some buttons, knobs and sliders - when making music.
*"...While holding my beer..."
stuck in my head, good job great music
Nice!
Would love to see the results with a bit of outboard on the drums etc.
Also, jealous at how pristine looking your 106 is!
Great track. Chords and melody work well together. You should release this.

The drop at the end worth it
That was really nice man!
thanks!
@@axlmurman1 No probs!!! 😎👊🏻
First, buy that expensive Juno 106? LOL...
15 years ago, when analog was becoming big again, the Juno 106 was the most affordable analog poly synth, maybe half the price it is today. They were hard to find but I remember a lot of bands having one around 2005/2007. Today it's not even worth its price tbh. I mean get a Prophet 12 if you have that kind of money.
I owned one once. Bought it second hand for around 400 bucks. Sold it again at about the same price once i was low on cash. I regret that today, they go for like 1500-2000 on the second hand market nowadays.
You can get the entire Arturia Collection for half the price, which has a Juno 60 emulation.
@@1212rocketlauncher just not the same as the real thing 😒
@@mortenrobinson It's about as close as one can get without buying an original Juno.
That was great.
