    There is a video from Trauma Team Racing that shows the only way really to set up triples with correct alignment, but in pretty sure you would have seen it already. Its all about pixel size to screen size with ams2.

    Important considerations about tires, tire wear and how to best manage it, posted by Renato on the Reiza forums:
    "
    The F-Ultimate Gen2 has 3 tire compounds loosely representing the 5-compound range of the real-life Pirellis (C1 to C5, former being the hardest and the latter being the softest option IRL). In real life, Pirelli decides on which 3 compounds of the 5 available they will take to each event based on track characteristics, weather forecast etc. For races like Spain, Japan and UK for ex. (all tracks with predominance of long high speed corners run in reasonably warm weather) Pirelli usually takes the 3 hardest options (C1, C2 & C3). In tracks with predominance of low speed short corners like Azure, Spielberg or Montreal it´s the other way around, with the 3 softest compounds (C3, C4, C5) usually being selected
    In AMS2 the medium tire is based off C3, while the hard is sort of a middle ground between C1 and C2, with the soft a middle ground between C4 and C5 - this is the compromise we´ve settled on until we can support different compound selections per track (if and when that happens). What that means in practice is that if you´re racing at Barcelona, Kansai, Silverstone and even Interlagos, the soft tire in the game is actually softer than any of the compounds usually taken to those events, and it will tend to desintegrate within a few laps of hard driving in a race fuel load. On those tracks you should only race with mediums and hards to better match the selection teams actually have for those events (unless you mean to do a lot of pitstops :) )
    It´s important to note also that wear isn´t equivalent to degradation - the 3 compounds won´t lose that much performance over the initial 50% or so of wear bar as indicated in the HUD (1s or so depending on the track), but beyond that point degradation is steeper, with tires really falling off a cliff in the last 20% or so.
    It´s also important to note that wear rates are directly related to the way they are driven - the more the driver attacks corners, the more friction is generated on the tread which will tend to accelerate the wear; because of that and the somewhat sensitive nature of the tires, drivers seldom if ever push 100% in races in real life because the lap time gain won´t be worth the extra wear and potential extra pitstop it will earn them. Hence the smooth style of rolling into and out of corners being pretty much mandatory during races for most tracks.

    Thanks for the video, Mike. I don’t find the tyre wear far off the mark in terms of the races that I watch on TV. I like how the AI now experience tyre issues more realistically (e.g. you were able to effect a pass when the pink car was sliding into the right-hander, heating up the left rear). Nonetheless, things always tend to get better in AMS2. Happy Easter!

    Where do you check the wear? If it's just visual, meaning the green going down in the game overlay, then just be aware that when there is now green, you are down to 50%, not at 0%. In simhub, one of the overlays that comes with the simhub gives you the value as percentage.

    It is your driving. Nico Rosberg said in an interview in the last year (or two) of his F1 career of how easy it is to ruin a perfectly fine/new set of softs in a SINGLE lap, during qualifying. No offence to your driving ability but I'd put my money on his input. Guess this means we will all need to work extra hard not to ruin the life of these tires, just like the real drivers do. It is their top concern: how to be competitive without ruining the tires, which only takes a single mistake, like a brief lockup.

      @Slakass55 9 месяцев назад +7

      @@vincentparenteau6854 I can only imagine what must go through the minds of the developers over at Reiza if they're to watch this review by Mike. He and others often claims the sim isn't realistic enough. Well, the developers went through enormous lengths to try and improve that by bringing us what may be the closest simulation of F1 tire wear of any sim. And instead of recognizing this and changing his driving method, he rushes to make a video criticizing it, after one race, as he clearly wants to benefit from clicks. Watching his driving around Interlagos makes it clear that if he was to ever sit behind the wheel of a F1 car that he'd toast the tires before a lap was completed, and this would be the least of his worries.
      So, instead of taking the time to learn how to cope with the demands of this change, he instead is the first to make a video and naturally can't grasp it, so he resorts to criticizing it.
      Like they say, you can't teach an old dog new tricks but you can place a keyboard in front of him and watch as he bitches and whines as he fetches for clicks and likes.

  • @Smoked_Cheddar
    @Smoked_Cheddar 9 месяцев назад

    So right now, I've only been using the LMDH cars, so maybe I need to try them. But neither they nor the F1 cars have ABS.
    So I'd say tire lockups are a real thing, and I'm sure in real life you can shred a tire through a lockup hence the quality drop. I have done the same thing, after like a couple of laps, one of my front tires is suddenly down like 12%. At le mans, one of the tires lost 60% of its life.
    So if anything this game taught me that braking needs to be taken seriously. Maybe it shouldn't be so easy to lock up? But I know you see it on the turns too. Camber and toe can play a part in tire wear as well.
    The last thing a sim needs is have a feature removed because the player base hasn't figured it out yet.

      Easy fix for this: race in VR. Just like racing F1 in real life, with a VR headset you'd simply tilt your head a couple of degrees to one side or the other, in order to have the halo not obstruct the view. Thankfully AMS2 has the best VR support, so for those interested in the best possible experience, halo interfering with the view is a moot point.

    Ams2 is not the best for triples, I don't use Nvidia surround, I use the inbuilt support, but you can't adjust while in the car which is not great. If you use a bezel hider it makes it even more hard because you constantly have to jump out of the race to adjust, then start the race/practice again. Also, no menu navigation using your wheel's hat sucks too. Acc has it implemented pretty good.
