Such a sweet angel this world needed, I wish the world was more kind to him, teasing him about sexuality and his exuberant personality; should be ashamed.
I pray he is remembered for a legacy of compassion and kindness, because that's all he wanted to see in the world.
    Rest in Paradise Richard Simmons

I met Richard in Palm Beach Florida at the Breakers Hotel in 1983. He was an extremely kind person, lovely. We danced & he looked quite handsome in a white suit, with such a tan.
He was there for the Heart Fund ball, the most expensive & exclusive of all events, along w/a bunch of other major stars like Debbie Reynolds, Bob Hope & Michael Landon.
    I'll always cherish our meeting.

It's ironic to see the video of him talking with an obese Oprah since so many of his emotional issues originated with his being overweight. Before his medical issues like skin cancer arose, he would have been able to find momentary peace of mind (like Oprah now has) with medical drug intervention, i.e., Ozempic. He was such a loving, lost soul. RIP!

I don’t really think it as a strange disappearance as he told Dave Letterman it was time for to step down and, he’d be retiring soon, Letterman told him he couldn’t but, he said, yes, it’s time! People also probably forgot he actually started his career in the mid 70s, I watched him from the beginning, his show was on close to 2 yrs. Richard’s show was similar to Rachel Ray’s format but, it centered around neatly eating and exercising! However, there was rarely guest, usually it started with a workout and, next would then, he’d show you how to make a healthy meal or recipe and, it was on at 7am so, I would watch it before, I went to school. At the end of the program the emphasis would be on self love and, the importance of loving yourself. When, the show ended he said, don’t worry, I will be gone for a few yrs but, I will be back with my next project and, he just knew and, always sensed when, the time had come to a end and, it was time to move on with something else. Then, next thing you know a few yrs later and, their he was on late night tv and, sometimes in the middle of the afternoon on networks that hadn’t had a whole lot of programming on yet, such as TBS and WTtTV Channel 4 out of Indianapolis! I remember my mom going to yard sales and garage sales and, I would make her buy me all the Richard Simmons things we would find! I just like Richard Simmons from the get go, the way he viewed exercise and weight, it was much different! He would say as long as you are getting off your butt and, your movin your exercising! Then, he would say don’t be hard on yourself and, don’t count yesterday’s or today’s loss, you can have another chance today and tomorrow and, he would say focus on your successes. Richard would not want you to feel guilt about yourself! My heart goes out to his family and, friends, my deepest condolences and prayers may Richard Simmons forever Rest In Peace! 5:28

Stop the all caps, that indicates yelling or screaming! But, again he publicly announced he was stepping away on Dave Letterman and, Letterman told him, he couldn’t. Richard Simmons told him it was time and, he said, it’s time for me to live his personal life that he hadn’t been able to from where he’d been so, much in the public eye! He did make an appearance on one of Dave Letterman’s final shows so, that tells you he wasn’t in hiding because, he didn’t decline Letterman’s invitation! I mean therefore, he was making appearances but, it wasn’t as much as they once were! Just because, one has been a public figure for decades that doesn’t mean you should be expected to be at everyone’s beck and call! But, Richard would do it otherwise! He was trying to step away and, live his personal life and, with him retiring the light doesn’t dim so, bright when, one is retired, but, people expected him to be there and, assumed he should be there but, yet you can’t blame him, most of the people condemning him and, bullying him expected to be right there front and center. If someone else could do it and, those who didn’t get it oh, it would be okay if they missed but, yet, it seems Richard never was given that same grace. I also think before he retired he didn’t feel as excepted as much anymore and, you could see the sadness and, the disappointment the way people began to disrespect him more and more you could see the toll it was taking on him! I would cry for him, I just so, wanted to give him a hug! 5:28

I always thought he was fairly girly and weird. Myself and the guys I knew all kind of thought he was a joke when he was out there a lot. He was a cross between Larry the Stooge and Liberace. I think women (especially the plumped ones) related to him much, much more than men could or did. His death is mysterious and I'd like to know what happened to him. It reminds me of Elvis and his strange death in 1977. It also makes me think of Robin William's death a few years ago.
