I once saw this Hispanic guy use this move on another dude who kept taunting him. The Hispanic guy was actually sitting down and didn't want to fight. The other guy kept insulting him. The bully pushed him in the chest when the Hispanic dude got him in that wrist lock in the video. He did it super fast. And he was still sitting down. The other guy couldn't move. He went down to his knees. The Hispanic dude asked him you gonna leave me alone or do I break your arm? The other guy apologized and said he will stop. The Hispanic let go. The guy got up and started insulting him again but this time he made sure he stayed at least 20 ft away. I wouldn't have let go. That's why I went looking for this move on RUclips and found this video. It works!! Great video
I'm an ED Nurse and have used wrist locks on unsuspecting psych patients that tried to grab me thinking they can impose their will. Great techniques against attackers expecting an easy target, but I've also tried the same in the cage against opponents expecting a skilled sparring partner and I've found the wrist slips away easily most of the time and leaves you with your hands down. I prefer to go for arm bar variations, because they are quick and more difficult to slide out of. Great job in pointing out the intricacies of practicing these techniques without hurting your partner. I'm in the process of watching all of your vids. God bless and keep up the good work!

I absolutely love this. Coming from a kickboxing and striking background; it's awesome to see a less in your face and damaging approach to confrontation. Not to mention taught with great detail and camera angles. Well done!!
Great technique. The principles of deflect, absorb and project are easily demonstrated here in this movement. I like how you not only explain the technique, but also the principles. I've begun re-exploring panantukan and can see where some of the principles merge together. I'm a 53 year old re-beginner. Thank you for your time. I will say, however, that I would not encourage any young people , as in high school and younger, to watch your videos, there really is no need for the potty mouth. My teacher from years ago was a filipino man, a guro who I was fortunate to meet and gain some knowledge from. He also studied aikido in Japan, and preferred the 'Gentle Art" to the very vicious eskrima/kali ways. He learned respect and temperance from his teacher and he said that one of the most helpful things he learned from his teacher, was the importance of words and their power. You are an intelligent man, there is no need to talk like a common thug, this denotes a weakness of character, but we all have flaws..please remember that you set an example as a teacher to those younger, your language is a detriment to you sir.
This instructor is so focused, clear, and intelligent. He pointed out critical nuances that you would never have noticed or considered unless you possessed his knowledge and practical experience. Those things that he zoomed in on improved the effectiveness of the technique as he stated "one hundred fold" and he explained it so well. Having exceptional skills in any area of knowledge or discipline is one thing. But being able to effectively convey that or pass it on to others is a rare talent.
1st time my sensei wacked a Nikkyo on me and held it while explaining the technique to the class I was on the verge of crying. Great technique and can catch people off guard very easily.
Love your presentation & love your student. I have done these techniques thousands of times over 50 years, and zanshin - attention to detail- as the core of my martial arts training philosophy. Plus I was blessed with an extra helping of brains. With all that, I learned new details of this technique.
I LOVE you, Dude!! No B.S., no language (even bad language) barrier, no FUCKING AROUND!. I study Krav Maga, and have for over 20 years. You have taught me new and DEVASTATING techniques on line, that while it may have taken a bit of practice, has bettered my own education and I have passed it along. THANK YOU, BROTHER!!
wow ,i cant belive youv'e studied Krav Maga for 20 years and just found this lock and throw on the wrist !! i was taught this on my yellow belt only 3 months into training Kempo JuJitsu,
7:48 Damn, you are intimidating. I would NOT challenge you. I'm a blue belt in BJJ and fairly confident but man I wouldn't wanna piss you off. lol Great instruction brother! Just found your channel, I'm gonna sub!
These techniques have thousand of variations and your details are done Beautifully. Good Americans need more understanding like this and the subtle-es in their Beauty. This is reality!
Believe it or not, I learned a version of Nikyo in a Wing Chun class. Sifu David Leong taught us to trap the grabbing hand, Huen Sau (circling hand), and, "Make his arm look like the letter Z," or introduce his pinky to his elbow. It is indeed devastating, and I love seeing the different ways Aikido not only reacts to the grab but actually creates the position out of other movement. I also loved your comment about compliance in training. Make your partner do the technique right, lest you build a false sense of security; however, both partners must constantly exercise a cautious awareness, lest somebody end up severely injured. *Great stuff!*
Grabaka Sennin Valid! My main point was simply that it's cool to see that, among so much divergent evolution in martial arts, what's good is good, and it persists even among countless different systems.
Grabaka Sennin Jujitsu is mostly originated from Sumai, the predecessor to sumo. Chin Na is imo very different from Jujitsu even though they share similar principles, like all grappling arts will.
That would be a Chin Na method. Though good, a Wing Chun "Sifu" should stick to teaching what he knows. But it's worth anyone in WC learning Chin Na from a proper teacher - or learning Aikido.
Man this is awesome i live in VA & wish I could get him to teach me this because it teaches discipline helps you stay fit & gives you the ability to defend yourself if a bad situation ever happens...
Very effective and impressive display of your female student, but even more impressive is your "fall guy", quick in his moves and precise... if he messes up his wrist would be scrap by the end of the video. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent work group, I like everything you show in your videos, I especially like the posture of the application and the technical details, thank you and congratulations warriors! I speak from Brazil...
Great lesson ! Basic street fighting can take your attacker out of the game but this is a great way to achieve leverage on your opponent if and when they get a hold of you. A good plan is to strike and keep your distance but it doesn't always work out as planned. I'm a big fan of wrist locks and arm control. It gives you the advantage quickly and in many cases can free up your other hand for striking and/or drawing your weapon if needed. Semper Fi
The wrist lock also relies heavily on being able to either outpower your opponent or being fast enough to catch him by surprise. And I've learned that from experience. I used to think size didn't matter in a fight as long as i was fast and had a decent techniqu, until i got into a fight with a guy your size...looked a lot like this same guy. Needless to say, the guy stomped my little ass. Jumped on me and overpowered me to the ground and then commenced to ground and pound my face into the concrete until i was knocked out. Woke up with a fucked up face and pissing blood for weeks. bruised kidneys from the guy stomping me when i was knocked out. But i learned a valuable lesson from that. Size definitely matters in a fight and technique falls off exponentially with the difference in size.
Actually if you do this right the leverage allows you to put someone to the floor with no effort. But, applying it is so situational and easy to avoid its useless xD
Great videos, Great Instructional technique, I wish there were more instructors of your caliber especially in my area. I like your emphasis on safety when training. I am 52 with an 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter ( no retirement for me lol ). I am searching for the right training school in my area that has the same values and beliefs as yours but I am pretty sure i am SOL .. y'all are one of a kind awesome.
Great video Lenny! I’m a black belt in Shotokan Karate at the Maryknoll Dojo in Los Angeles, CA. This is a basic and very effective technique that I started learning at the dojo and still trying to perfect on my own time with my training partner. Awesome man!!
I have seen these moves in action. Yes, they do work! I also had a chance to apply similar moves on someone who came at me with a 16 inch steak knife, and it worked flawlessly.
Lenny sly is the "real deal" He does Aikido justice!! Love the girl.. she is beautiful and good student!! I wish i could train with Him. I have some injuries.. Illinois here I come!!
This Chris kid is pretty athletic to be getting tossed around like a rag doll. He clearly knows the correct ways to fall. Great video! These wrist locks are nasty!
Most people don't realize that Aikido was originally a form of martial combat for the Samurai of feudal Japan. It was not until the grand master Morihei Uyeshiha cams to the conclusion that you don't have to destroy your opponents to defeat them.
I love your style your very direct. Don't fuck around , the way it should be. Alot of what you do is street fighting productive tactics. At first I thought you were just throwing common sense movements . However , you approached each technique for a beginner to learn and slowly advance. Your a great teacher.
great video guys ,i love itt.i learn martial art since 6yrs old.i"m blackbelt in pencaksilat and recently i ineterest in aikido and bjj.thanks for video guys
as "shodan in Aikido, I see alot of people that dont really understand and believe it doesnt work... i know for one thing it definitely taught me how to move thats for sure
You demonstrated a "conjunctive technique" adjusting the opponent so a traditionally limited but wicked "1st wrist technique" can be applied. This is the essence of blending turned combative, increasing the range of sensible applications.
Fantastic demonstrations in your videos, i love em! And what a dojo! I totally understand your frustration at the Aikido knockers, especially when you consider as you say, "how likely is it that you'll be attacked by a martial artist of any kind". Aikido is not meant for competition, its a defensive art designed to stop an attack via instant pain, yet with no permanent injury. In that respect how could you compare it with 'sport' martial arts? Can you imagine an Aikido competion? Two guys standing there going " your move". What i love also is how you show the beautiful side of it. One of my Sensei's remarks always stuck with me, Aikido in the dojo is beautiful, Aikido on the street is ugly!
I like this version of nikkyo. so much so I have stolen it myself - an uke described it as "vicious" - which is a great compliment. a good note is keep the forearm parallel with the length of the body, don't let the elbow rise up and don't push into uke- push down into the space in a tailor sabaki motion. Lovely!
I have been training for a little while, but there is always room for improvement, some things I didn't even know! Thank you for the extra bit of advice!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. The practicality and realistic application of these techniques you demonstrate can be extremely effective in a 'street' situation. I have recently began my martial arts training, training Sin Moo Yu Sool Kwan Hapkido. I notice similarities in technique. The Nikyo technique you explained is similar to what I've leaned as a 'S-Wrist Lock'. In training, as an Uke, I can vouch for the pain factor. When applied full force, there is no doubt some serious damage can occur. I have the upmost respect for Aikido as an art and practical form of defense. Individuals who discredit joint lock techniques truly don't understand the power behind them. As you said, a student needs to be 100% focused and dedicated to learning and practicing techniques. This yields positive results, demonstrated by your new student in the video. I would much rather be boxed, kicked, thrown, or grappled than have a full on wrist lock applied...its fucking devastating!
I like your approach. My last aikido instructor was too busy doing the art rather than concentrate on how to apply it to the street. Perhaps that's why many people think aikido isn't effective!
I was taught a different ukemi. they taught me to go down on my knee not in front of nage, but on his side. when you are in front you are trapped on your knee, while on the side you can go all the way lying down. that helps getting rid of the pain and pressure on the wrist.
im sure you win a lot of confrontations or even negate them with your in your face, pumped up, eye popping, loud, fast talking and intimidating demenour. Im expect you probably live that way 24/7 and earn your living from being that way. I grew up in rough places living life at a fast pace and in constant problematic scenarios when not just nights out were a problem as you described here but going for a newspaper was also a self protection exercise. I forced myself to watch your video and by the end of it really wished someone would knock me out so I didnt have to listen to any more of it. Im sure many will worship your gung ho, yeah man, HOORAH concept as a positive influence. I was fortunate enough to witness when my friends little girl saw her first butterfly in the garden the other day, that was a far more life affirming experience to observe than what ive just seen. Blessings.
brilliant Instructor you explain the technique really well......I've never studied aikido but you do it applicable to the street what will actually work....keep up the tutorials.....very impressed!
Thanks for the great video. Good combat philosophy. If you are attacked you fight with everything you can. Break teeth, bones poke their eyes out till they have no more taste for attacking you. Aikido and Jiu-Jitsu are great techniques that can be studied by anyone
Hello my name is Bob. And I just want to say sir! I àm impressed with what you are doing. And how you take the time to teach your methods of Aikido. And how you combine realistic technic. I have a great deal of respect in what you teach. I enjoy watching you toss your Buddy arround. Although have a great deal of respect for what is doing as well. keep up with what you are teaching. I have studied kungfu for five years. Although really Love and have a great deal of respect your methods
I learned many martial art styles over the years, this guy is really good, I do not like swearing but hey, I like him so it does not bother me like it bothers some saying stuff earlier about him cussing. This is street fighting techniques to proteect yourself from assholes, so I can get why he is swearing. You are the best out there, thank you for the refresher courses that you give for free.....you rock........thank you Sir.
Saw the gun disarm and this vid, I subscribed. I'm in middle school and all so could you make a video for takedowns (bringing somebody onto the ground) and/or roadblocks for self defense that are simple. I think there would be other people like me that need simple, efficient, and easy self defense. Thanks in advance. (Also another idea is for one of those takedowns/wristlocks could be non painful, for school fight defense.)
TtfnoGaming then go going the highschool wrestling team. Tis stuff is not effective or simple. It's simply a waste of time. There's only a handful of basic concepts that are st all helpful from this art. Wrestling is all effective and you actively test your grappling skills against other trained opponent's. Now's the time for you to go join, end of middle school beginning of highschool. It is hard work, as it should be. If you expect learning how to defend yourself well to be a cakewalk then you will be looking in the wrong places for the training you need. Learn a grappling art, wrestling BJJ or judo, and a few striking arts, like boxing kickboxing, Mua Tai. These are the most effective fighting style bases out there, and all come with full sparring and live training. Wrestling being the one where you'll find the toughest competition, and training of them all. BJJ can teach you more technical submissions that wrestling won't and judo will have more focus on throws. But really if your interested in being able to defend yourself and currently at that age, join the wrestling team
Akikai-Chile send you all the best and keep those videos coming!!!! I got into Aikido while I was living in Ct. and it was a great experience. I've been watching your videos now for a while and they're awesome.
Love you're stuff a little complicated for a novice but 100% doable.the female Dana is to be applauded more women should have her mind set.once again love youre stuff.
I will be moving back to Illinois in April 2018, are classes open to all and how much would they cost. Also your website seems to be limited if you need help expanding please let me know. Love the content.
grappler99 Your exactly right THANK YOU. So many people are caught up in the UFC and think that if it's not being used in mma it doesn't work. What people completely fail to see is that you'll never get attack by an mma fighter on the street.
( I know this is an old vid..but) Great work man, Great work.. the haters don't know what they're talking about. Your technique is Tier1 bro. Keep doing what you do. You have more supporters than haters.
Mr. Izzo I have great respect for yur training methods and the unique and powerful way u can destroy the enemy I want to add this to my arsenal and further defend Gods people, respect to yu combative concepts is a must in this day
New to this page! Third one I've watched so far. 1000% zero disagreement in these techniques, and id hate to be in the receiving end! Will watch more. A couple things come to mind though.. He's either: So wildly passionate with the art, that he's wired out from the intensity of the whole thing. *OR* He did a fat line right about 30mins before the filming! 🤤

I like your approach. My last aikido instructor was too busy doing the art rather than concentrate on how to apply it to the street. Perhaps that's why many people think aikido isn't effective!
Great video and attention to detail on proper execution of the wrist locks which is sometimes ignored.
Very good variations!
Thanks for having Dana on....love it!!
Great Work dude. People learning wrist locks for the first time will learn more from you in ten minutes ,then they would learn a year at most dojo's
Thanks for the great video. Good combat philosophy. If you are attacked you fight with everything you can. Break teeth, bones poke their eyes out till they have no more taste for attacking you. Aikido and Jiu-Jitsu are great techniques that can be studied by anyone
Youre a good teacher, very thorough. I highly approve of your training style
I wish everybody had there audio this loud I love it I don't have to strain my ears. Shaun rocks the city TV show posted.
Excellent practice and teaching
Hello my name is Bob. And I just want to say sir! I àm impressed with what you are doing. And how you take the time to teach your methods of Aikido. And how you combine realistic technic. I have a great deal of respect in what you teach. I enjoy watching you toss your Buddy arround. Although have a great deal of respect for what is doing as well. keep up with what you are teaching. I have studied kungfu for five years. Although really Love and have a great deal of respect your methods
bob the builder
I learned many martial art styles over the years, this guy is really good, I do not like swearing but hey, I like him so it does not bother me like it bothers some saying stuff earlier about him cussing. This is street fighting techniques to proteect yourself from assholes, so I can get why he is swearing. You are the best out there, thank you for the refresher courses that you give for free.....you rock........thank you Sir.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it
Your student got those breakfalls down packed.
Great video. Much respect Sr.
Great video man. I love how you combine traditional martial arts with modern combat methods.
Great techniques this is the first time i have seen this technique used in a applicable way.
enjoying the no nonsense content , keep up the good work
Lol "there won't be any shake and bake to the fuckin' JCPenney's lingerie section anytime soon..."
lol, "you'll be going to the other side" *scary eyes
I like how you reply back to comments on your videos you've got my subscription and like . Thanks for sharing
Khalid Right
NO!!! Thank you for your comment and support.
Thank you for you knowledge and your video's!I like how real you are
Saw the gun disarm and this vid, I subscribed.
You go girl. Very impressed. Instructor and trainer damn good too.
Just accidentally ran across ur vids . Nice training of Nikyo technique shown . Always up for learning .just sub'ed
+Thunder Lightning
Thank you
Damn this guy's bunkai is on point. Same with his dojo ettiquette. Lastly, that double age uke to kote mawashi was exquisite.
+Greg Pienkowski
Yes anyone can join the dojo. The class schedule and monthly tuition is on the website.
Great video, people don't realize that what you are teaching or training for is not for the ring or for sport.
grappler99
Your exactly right THANK YOU.
You have more supporters than haters.
your the shit ! as a woman I am grateful and will continue to watch
+bonny culver
Thank you.
Very fluid movements, unlike Taekwondo which is a known joint killer for the practitioner. I need to look into this, it's awesome!
I've watched a lot of your videos. I love them. Subscribed to your channel. Keep them coming
Mr. Izzo I have great respect for yur training methods and the unique and powerful way u can destroy the enemy I want to add this to my arsenal and further defend Gods people, respect to yu combative concepts is a must in this day
This is not Dominick Izzo - this is Lenny Sly - we no longer work with Dominick which is why there is separate channels now.
AREGATO FOR THIS VIDEO BROTHER...VERY CLEAR, I REALLY LEARNED SOMETHING THANKS SO MUCH
New to this page!
Third one I've watched so far.
1000% zero disagreement in these techniques, and id hate to be in the receiving end!
Will watch more.
A couple things come to mind though..
He's either:
So wildly passionate with the art, that he's wired out from the intensity of the whole thing.
*OR*
He did a fat line right about 30mins before the filming!
🤤
what's the best way to complete the nikyo while you're eating punches to the face from your unprotected right side?
thank u this helped me with a bully
i used it on myself somehow and i snapped my arm. (just a joke, don't hate me)
She is Uber Fast picking this all up because shes a covered agent Infiltrating You "Militia" for Intel on your militia's Mettle, Strengths & Capabilities due to rising tensions in the states, Immigration, Islam and the high level probability of a War Between the States. Good Luck w That
