    At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.
    Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.
    Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.

    I have had the honour of owning a W116 280 SEL. Wow, what a car. The only car that I've ever driven that was better than that was my mate's W126 420 SEL. Even the E classes from this period were incredibly good vehicles. It is such a shame that Mercedes Benz has given up building cars of this standard. A greater shame is that even if you own a contemporary Mercedes, if you haven't driven an earlier model, you have no idea what a Benz should be.

      I had one of these years ago - non Vanos 4.4. Low k's, pampered it, but anything with rubber and plastic fails. The 5 years I had it I spent probably around $15 grand in repairs - high pressure P/S hoses, suspension, a/c hedgehog resistor, valve cover gaskets, electronics, radiator (mostly plastic that fail in OZ summers), water pump, clutch fan, HID bulbs, caliper bolts loosen an fall out on OZ roads. I got rid of it at about 130,000k and got a HSV Grange. Chalk and cheese, Grange reliable, 740il supremely comfortable, Grange much quicker and handles better but a little low rent. Still have the Grange. The E38 I agree is the best shape for 7 series and probably all bimmers.

    What about the Lexus is250?

    • @dwindeyer
      @dwindeyer Год назад +1

      This video is obviously targeting land yachts so this IS250 would be a bit small for that - It's also got an intentionally firmer ride so it doesn't quite fit in the same category. However as someone who didn't need a huge car and recently purchased a 81,000km 2IS, I can definitely recommend. Specifically if it's been optioned out as you can go further back in years than you think and still get good features.

      I mean perhaps this is the case for euro cars like Mercedes’ and BMW. Lexus is appealing because they’re so reliable and made of quality materials that are built to last.
