My personal favorite was Daisuke Takahashi!
Takaheshi did AWESOME
Daisuke is such an Eros! Wonderful music, beautiful costume, funny dance, stable jumps with soft landing and all the packege. So sexy choreography. I loved every second of it. 😍
Takaheshi is M.Jakson on ice, he is really GREAT!! Super Artistic skater, BRAVO!!
I remember watching this in 2010 and falling in love with Daisuke Takahashi. I’m so happy to see so much love for him in the comments ❤️
Denis was the youngest among them at the age of 16. Cute 16 year old Denis. Miss you a lot.
He is missed. 😔
Daisuke by far the best!!! True artist!
daisuke was amazing❣️
Daisuke
Performance-wise, Daisuke Takahashi was truly the best. His artistry is eclectic and unique.
DAISUKI WAS AMAZINGGGGGG
Takahashi should have won the SP. He was undermarked with PCS while the judges inflated Lysacek's PCS. It is beyond laughable that Lysacek received higher PCS than Takahashi closer to Lambiel.
Daisukes performance was the best of the evening. Granted, it didn't have the quad, but everything else was magnificent and his artistry was superior to everyone else's. That footwork was amazing. He just DANCES to the music!
Troy Turner can’t argue with that. I’m glad he was recognized and put in a virtual tie with Evan and Evegeni.
That therein lies the problem. Olympics are not about the dance. It's about the sport. Power, physicality and presence are going to be of higher value. Artistry and musicality will ALWAYS score lower. Holy crap Evan's performance was breathtaking and I totally get why he won.
@@mrs.schmenkman Olympics may be all about the sport but figure skating transcends the regular definition or sport...technical skills are the meat and potatoes but the dance is part of what makes a great Olympic champion (e.g. Yu-Na Kim). And Daisuke was.given his due in the PCS and was way ahead of Plushenko there, so that was the right call. And thank you for your kind words for Evan Lysacek...he gave it everything he had and showed us his skills and his heart and soul. Among the greatest underdog wins in the Olympics.
Watching 9 years later, Takahashi is still so sexy!!!!! 😱🤩😍♥️❤️🎇🎉
No but seriously he’s so musical, he always skates to his darn music, rarely ever breaks away from his character, his step sequence is always on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Didn’t want to believe it when I heard that he retired, I’m so happy that he’s back and cannot wait for next season!!!
Daiske-san, you were brilliant, and I watch this sp over an over again! Arigato!
Worship u dakahashi daisuke♡
I really really loved Takahashi's sp and fs.

Wow you're a life-saver! 🙏🤗
bless you thankyou!!!!
Ugh Johnny Weir is such a doll and such a fantastic skater!
Every time I rewatch this I'm reminded of the immense injustice of Lysacek's SP getting such a high component score when he frequently wasn't even timing his choreography with the music, in a competition where Daisuke Takahashi was flawlessly on point for pretty much every note. Frankly Lysacek's component score should be less than Denis Ten's, who did far better and mostly just didn't have as technical a program as the older and more experienced skaters.
My heart still hurts for Daisuke, twelve years later….
Takahashi is the best.
I miss him...
I really love this Olympics more as compared to Sochi. The crowd is just so much responsive and much supportive for the skaters..
The programs at Sochi for the men were not good. Have to say one of the worst I have seen cause of so many falls... Seriously your file medalist wins with 2 falls?!?
Antonio Thunder hunter Unfortunately it's because of these Olympics changes were made in how the Quad was valued. During these Olympics the quad's value was rewarded the same, but if you fall you will not get a huge amount of credit for it like you do now. This upset a lot of people because Evan won (and rightfully so) without having a quad in his program, but with the point system a win IS possible so long as you add on high-grade spin and footwork elements on top of take advantage of the 10% bonus after the halfway mark. It's the way you play the system is what gets you the win. Sure both the top 2 skaters fell, but the Japanese skater edged out Patrick Chan because his elements were of higher grade than Patrick's.
stephane lambiel is an angel! He is too perfect.Kisses from Brazil
wow! Takahashi,Iwish Icould know him earlier.
2:29:16 Stephane Lambiel of Switzerland with the truest interpretation of the William Tell Overture. You cannot interpret it any closer into skating as this. And as usual, with his wonderful, expressive and strong skating. The William Tell Overture is a very difficult piece to skate to. The best ever interpretations of it are Lambiel's program and Tonya Harding (88-89 season).
Денис Тен, земляк, мальчик наш золотой. Сколько разнообразных талантов было у него, как жаль, что мало пожил.. и спасибо ему за всё.
I know that there is constant arguing about who deserved to win the gold. I don't really like either skater or their style that much. When I watched this live I was backing plushenko over Lysacek, but Lysacek had the cleaner FS and had far better spins and transitions than plushenko. Many of Plushenko's jumps had scratchy landings and his first axel wasn't good.
The skater I enjoyed watching the most was Daisuke Takahashi, so expressive, but his mistake in the free sadly lost him the gold.
He killed it!!!!!!!!! An amazing skate Johnny!!!!!
It hurts deeply to see Denis Ten. Rest in peace my friend, you will always be remembered and loved in the skating community
Takahashi: 2:16:10
Takahashi and Lambiel ❤️
Chan, Ten and Takahashi though, skating skills as they are supposed to be when you compete at a high level.

Thk u!!!!!
テンくん、いきいき踊っていて良いプログラムでしたね。I miss DenisTen.
Daisuke Takahashi doesn’t just dance to the music- he feels the music! Creative and so talented with footwork that is exquisite in every way! Dai is the Goat and we are so blessed to see him now dancing in a pair! x 🫶🫶
Javi Fernandez was underscored... but again he was a baby. Great sport though. Takahashi was awesome. All the time!
Johnny Weir is so beautiful!
I'm Italian and I think Bacchini was very nice, but my heart beats for Johnny Weir, the most fascinating personality, an unparalleled way of skating. Love you Johnny, you deserved the podium
Florent Amodio's program was absolutely breathtaking. I'm not a skater and don't know the CoP, but to me that was one of the most enjoyable choreographic performances of the night.
I think all we knew Takahashi was best at that night
Javier Fernandez, now is world champion♥
Lysacek was over scored(SP&LP).
Plushenko did 4-3 and Daisuke did best performance in this SP, so Plushenko or Daisuke has should won.
Rira. N Nope. Sorry. Your wrong. Watch it again. Lysacek was miles ahead on what is important. I haven't watched skating since the 90s and I had no idea who had won -- but as soon as I saw his performance it was clear he stole the show. When a man commands the ice the judges take heed. The artistry and musicality is always secondary. It's not a dance competition it's a sport. You have to have power and strength and control first...then you can flap your arms around all you want and wiggle your butt.
love this!!! the whole short program, wow! what a wonderful time on youtube! thank u so much for uploading this!!;)
16 year old Denis Ten doing a perfect Biellman spin 😭😭😭
2:16:30~Daisuke Takahashi
Viktor Pfeifer (Austria) had a very difficult music to skate to. I don't know how he did it. I liked his program. Beautiful music, but extremely hard to skate to. Of course Daisuke Takahashi is the best ! No one is more charming and more entertaining than Daisuke.
Evgeni Plushenko is unique. He was the best.
2:09:29 I really liked Denis Ten's performance.
marigam Yes ! Why 10th place ?! He was really good !
1. Takahashi
2. Pluschenko
3. Lysacek
Even in spite of Hanyu's two Olympic golds, I still say Takahashi is by far the best male skater Japan has produced. What a showman with passion and charisma that reached all the way to the back row of the arena. The only thing he lacked in his career was consistency. What a joy it is to watch him at his peak.
Agreed. I’ve been watching figure skating for 12 years and Daisuke is still my favorite. Nobody has ever topped his charisma
Daisuke paved the way for shoma yuzu and yuma.
Plushenko's music choise is emotional and so beautiful.
OMG Zhenya! You are my champion forever! You are the best!
Plushanko's short was BEAUTIFUL. Reminded me of 2002's Carmen, despite the mistakes he made in that. The choreography was beautiful, the artistry, all of it was amazing.
I keep going back to the lp and if it had been just a bit cleaner, I would whole heartedly agree that he deserved the gold. He skated an amazing short but was underscored. I am all for that. He should have had a bit more of a lead. Not 5 pts but at least 3.
The lady announcer; perfect vocalization
Daisuke such a legend!!!
I loved Johnny Weir’s skate, his flair, his costume and his moxy!! He scares the shit out of the judges and that is PRICELESS to me!! Stephane Lambiel is my darling,of course.
Plushenko and Brian Joubert such a charisma 🤩💕💕
Lambiel. Full stop.
@bayoucool I agree. It is such a shame that 35 years after John Curry and Toller Cranston, the judges will still not accept a graceful and classically beautiful skater. It's as if all the battles that John and Toller fought back in the 1970's have to fought all over again. I think Lysacek is mediocre and boring. Technically he is not as good as Plushenko and artistically he's not as good as Weir, Lambiel or Takahashi.
The fact that Daisuke wasn't 1st after the short is a total travesty
+goe on the flutz... that's insane
Lysacek should have been 4th at this competition. Yeah, life sucks and even figure skating is rigged sometimes. For those who don't know the true results were
1. Plushenko
2. Takahashi
3. Lambiel
4. Lysacek (not sure if he deserves 4th place though, Nobunari Oda performed better)
+alin4alin Not sure that van deserves the 4th place for sure.....!!!!! You are completely right, Evan not sure at the 4th place because he deserved the 1st and he proved it!!!!!!!
Agree
Женя красавчик
Johnny Weir❤️
oh boy... I shoulda rewatched the short programs b4 the free skate. cuz when I watched that first, Evan Lysachek had the cleaner routine and I rested on my previous opinion. But after this... I dunno. Evan's short program was boring, didn't really move me. Plushenko's... I almost wanted cry cuz it was that good. The best I'd seen of him other than the free skate for Sochi's Team competition (haven't gotten around to his gold-winning run in Torino yet but I'm getting there).
On another note, Johnny Weir looked amazing all around in Vancouver and I think he was underrated big time :-P so entertaining to watch
I agree..Plushenko's short program was so beautiful it brought me to tears..If it was triples the judges wanted then Plushenko could do triples in his sleep..I would like to see Evan try one quad..I actually liked Jonny Weir's program more then Evans.
It's not about how "beautiful" it looks anymore you're living in the past. It has been about every technical element for almost 10 years now. So you can do all these "beautiful" movements but if they don't add up to a higher grade, they mean NOTHING! Plushenko has crappy grade footwork, spins and transitions and this is why he lost it. He was too arrogant to think that he can come back and win skating under a system that has changed since he last skated 4 years prior.
+chipperterri Check older Evan's videos like I did and you'see him doing a quad.....I think it was in US nationals or in another competition that I saw him, not worlds or OG. I don't really remember which video was but he can do quads.
@@latininxtc None of these boys are doing these things without Plushenko. He set the standard they follow. Russians in general don't do much with transitions; that's a difference between skating styles between East and West. Plushenko's spins had actually improved and how on earth do you give tech scores to others over the man who actually did a quad jump? Plushenko didn't deserve the gold medal (neither did Evan, actually), but the score given to Evgeni for the short program was a joke.
By the way, Plushenko was a great technical innovator, but artistry still matters.
Thx so much!
Victor from Austria , almost had to use Beethoven, "Moonlight Sonata" was lovely!
Jenya is best programm!!!
Plushenko was the best at this SP. he was the only man who clean 4-3 combination, and he didn’t mistake. If the OG held in other country, he would given 3~4 points more. But that OG was in Vancouver, and all American-Canadian press were crazy to block his 2nd gold. And finally they achieved their goal… even they denied the history of the technical development in men’s figure skating. An OC without quad?? Not in 1980’s, in 2010?? HAHAHA that’s a ridiculous! That’s not a matter of judging system. Either old system or new system, the result of 2010 OG was a big shame of this sport. In 2010 they tried turn back time at the age of no quad, because they knew they had no skater who can win Plushenko. So they denied the history, they denied the quad, and they set up to take a gold from Russia or Europe. In fact, Plushenko was right. Time proves it. Look at now, without quad, no one can win the men’s competition. I’m not an american(you know my English writing isn’t well) or Russian or European. In my opinion, sorry for Lysacek, but his 3A in 2010 OG wasn’t better than even Mao Asada! Men’s OC and Women’s silver medalist have a same technical level in their program? What a weird!
Han Stella 100% agreed.
Han, I agree. I adore Evgeni and although I still feel his long program in Vancouver wasn't quite strong enough for the win, his points about the quad and the importance of technical innovation in the sport were well taken.
The Olympic gold is not for technical innovation. It's for being best in show on that night. And Lysacek was best in show.
Florent Amodio's introduction sounded more like the announcer was reading his dating profile.
PLUSHENKO!!
Plushenko may be gold in olimpic games, he's the best in the world!!!!
Lysacek won but he left just toxic legacy. His victory was a huge step backwards (20 years) in FS. Without Plushenko, quadruple jumps would not exist. Only time tells - who is real winner.
lila Plushenko always front loaded his programs. He never took advantage of the 10% bonus and that’s what hurt him. Evan did. You can’t just be confident about your abilities. You also have to be smart. Plushenko wasn’t smart.
Lysacek is the real winner 🏆🥇👏
Evgeny Pluschenko is BRILLIANT!! BRAVO!! its incredible high jumps, impossible to believe!!
I know, it's probably an unpopular opinion, but I think Stefan Lindemann (1:49:25) did an amazing job, aesthetically speaking. His SP seemed very coherent and matched the music beautifully... as did his costume, by the way. There's a strange kind of elegance to the entire thing, which really fascinates me. This is the kind of SP that got me into figure skating as a kid.
I'm out of the loop on this, why would people not like his performance? I agree, his skating matched the music well. I enjoyed it.
Unpopular opinion? Really? Well, I like his perfomance too. Much more than Plushenko's.
johnny wear 3:17:47
OTT as usual - he really should tone it down with the costume.
shirley leah ... i think you’re a bit late, and he knows what he’s doing🙄😂
Evgeni Plushenko has 4 Olimpic medals. No one of living skaters has 4 Olimpic medals, only he.
He is the best, deal with it.
Virtue and Moir now have five Olympic medals.
Plushenko is the all-time Olympic men's skater, a title he still holds. Virtue and Moir are ice dancers; please try to keep the disciplines separate.
DENIS TEN! 02:09:49!! KID!
Kayoko Sakaguchi thank you so much I easy find Denis. He is so young and cute.Denis and Daiske was friends, they skating together for Denis and friends show .Beautiful skaters.i always enjoy them...
RIP D10
Poor Jeremy. He tries so hard but when he gets in front of a world audience, he chokes. He is a strong skater and could win the gold at the Olympics or Worlds. I hope he comes back for one last hurrah but I do believe he is done. :(
Denis Ten R.I.P
johnny got so screwed at these olympics. i thought the judges couldn't cheat with the new scoring system?
He's not as good as he thinks he is. Over-hyped by USA, the usual stuff.
He was a great artist whom you could tell lived and breathed skating. But when you compete as an artist, you may get left behind by those who compete as athletes.
Johnny Weir's programs were already being criticized for not having sufficient technical merit. This was not new to these Olympics.
They don’t like him because he is “eccentric” and “expressive” (read between the lines=gay)….screw them if they cannot tolerate diversity.
I think there's some major subjectivity going on with these comments. I'm not saying the judges didn't make some minor judging mistakes, but for those who know the nuances of the sport, several of the remarks are off base. Weir, for ex, placed where he did, not b/c "the judges cannot accept a man who is feminine," but b/c his flip took off on the wrong edge (both short and free) and b/c his transitions weren't as intricate. He's a hell of a talent, but that's just one example of biased posting.
And how did Patric Chan place ahead of Johnny after the free with all the mistakes he made? Still a mystery to me ...
i like so much this video
3:17:55 johnny weir
LOS AMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO : EVGENI PLUSHENKO , BRIAN JOUBERT, JOHNNY WEIR , STEPHANE LAMBIEL , JAVIER FERNANDEZ . I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUU GUYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ..
Nobunari Oda had the best jump landings I've ever seen. His landings were like buttuh.
Brian Joubert - He melted the ice with those sexy opening hip moves; Hot D*MN. I like the music and program for him, but it felt too much like he was copying Yagudin. Didn't Yag use the same piece of music in his race car SP a few years prior?
@veryWild5 Oh yes, easy program clean skate. But Lysa wasn't so clean, as the audience thought. Plushenko's jumps were landed-neither two-foot nor underrotation but Evan did mistakes-which are not visible to non-specialists. The european and asian experts saw them. And it was so outrageous how after the short program the judges gave both of them the same score so Evan could have a chance at beating Plushenko. Plushenko's short program was so much superior to Lycacek's.
Lady Gaga's Poker Face playing in the background as Johnny Weir skates off and waits for his marks is fantastic lol. Do they intentionally play the track the skater has prepared for the gala performance? Or is this just a wonderful coincidence?
2:29:18 Stephane Lambiel and Tonya Harding, the greatest and truest ever interpretations of the William Tell Overture. Lambiel's was in 2010, Harding's was in 1989. Interestingly, both of their William Tell programs were short (technical) programs!
What about the ladies program? I can't find the full version
He does not even have to be perfect, but you cannot take your eyes off Plushenko.
That's charisma, baby! Which Plush always had in spades. 😊
Plushenko and Weir were the best!
Amei, esse canal!!!!!
Havi.dennis was so young&cute
Miss u dennis ten so much.....
Feel so sad
I will never forget you❤
First. Second. And Third. Deserved. Deserved. Deserved (from Belem's City, Amazonia, Brazil).
meme si j aime le patinage de lizacek je ne comprends pas comment il a pu etre aussi pret de plushenko sans quadruple!
Plushenko should have won short by waaaay more over lysacek .
evan lysacek's slo mo step sequence, you can see the judge smiling and laughing with him!
Pessoal kd o Programa Longo desse evento...???' Estou esperando a meses ser postado aqui no RUclips... Aguardo retorno...
where is the full coverage of ladies event fs?
