- I had the great honor of playing the principal part to Copland's Buckaroo Holiday. This is a real treat to play. Definitely some of the goofier trombone writing you will see written in orchestra.

In high school I got asked to fill a percussion part in rodeo, and that was the hardest piece I’d played up until that point. So many exposed bass drum hits lol but I’ll love rodeo forever now :)
Same... except I'm a French horn player but played lead trumpet for that semester because we were short trumpet players... what a piece.
Is rodeo this song? It sounds like itd be fun
Awesome as always 😂
I completely felt that *“YEEEEHAW!”*
YEEEEEHAAAAW
There’s actually a highway in Florida that’s named “YEEHAW”
Man, I love the acoustics in that room
Just seeing the distinct style of the Copland sheet music is giving me flashbacks to playing his music in high school
Timo I love your channel. The power of the trombones is too immesnse
My high school played this piece last year in collaboration with the Orchestra and Band. Unfortunately, the Orchestra players weren’t participating vocally. I was part of a meager 3 trombone section and had a flashback at the end of the video where my buddy was playing the translation solo. Thanks for the memories
plz post a full version of it in this format
The way he stares into our soul 😭
One of my favorite pieces - this was such a treat to watch and hear!
Could you tell me the name of the piece please?
1:04 Timo: **winks just after the Glockenspiel plays his note**
Me : « We were on the verge of greatness ! We were this close ! »
The part with the tempo is so iconic. Last rehearsal we played the medley "dance film highlights" (including Flash dance, time of my life, xanadu and you're the one that I want) my conductor and teacher was relaying the wrong tempo at t"ime of of my life". Me being my bored self decided the notes for French horn were so unimportant in that piece that I simply grabbed the notes for tenor horn marked the still important parts in French horn and basically played tenor horn with French horn parts.
At the moment were "time of my life" was WAAAAAYYYYY too slow I just went with a slightly faster tempo. Everybody noticed. Conductor asked what the heck I'm doing. My response: " The tempo is slower than before but not as slow as the beginning." Conductor admitted I was right and that we had that part down so we could already play at the written/originally rehearsed tempo
I love that chord at the end. So warm and fuzzy.
Loved it! < 3
Nice, I’m playing buckaroo holiday as well. Can’t play the solo that cleanly though, nice work!
great tone!
This is awesome!
Great playing. ❤️
That wallpaper though 🤩😍
Sounds great!! And yay Woolsey Hall!
Copeland is always fun to play. Love Applachian Spring with it's shifting time signatures, and Danzon Cubano.
I love the part where he plays trombone
The way his eyes flip to the camera during the first solo scares me
Oh man, that Woolsey Hall reverb. Now I'm gonna be all nostalgic for undergrad all day.

…Kappa..
Had me rolling on the floor 😂
Yoo I saw a short of this in a different POV!! You always seem to ace this stuff (not just bc of practice)
i need to listen to more of Coplands stuff.
Fanfare for the Common Man is an all time favorite but i don't know much else from him.
Dude, you have a great round orchestral tone that I just want to curl up in. Bravo.
Tone is insane!
Sounds great! What ensemble are you playing with?
That reverb is so lush
Imagine playing in the middle 2 movements *cries in bass trombone*
no way I'm seein this from the trombone's pov now
That’s the best yeehaw I think I’ve ever heard
This is why I play trombone
Legend says that's the only piece he can play..
I remember it was Nyan cat before
Im always in a band i play the trumbone and sax
Definitely relatable! Also, is this what one your rehearsals is like?
At measure 23 that key signature got me tweakin
Wish I could have good tone like you lol
I think I recognize this hall!
It’s Woolsey. Unless it has a clone that looks just like it
Hope you’re enjoying Yale man!
Coplandddddd!!
0:45 I MISS IT; it was like HS so 2014-2018
0:57 OFF BEATS GANG
AAA NOW I WANNA PLAY AGAIN -- aaa
Yes
This song is a game of chicken between the trombonist and conductor
Where can I find a video of a performance including the yeehaw??
HE PLAYED IT SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I’m supposed to play 3rd Horn for Rodeo, I’m only a sophomore in high school and I’m panicking. I have to learn it by Jan 19
Yeahhhhh cowboy
YEEEEEEEEEEHHHHAAAWWWW
Mmm, Rodeo!
What do you use to record?
0:26 Mmmmbaby dat final *BOP*
Ohohoh
So a slur between two notes on trombone music means a slide?
I remember my trombone playing band director teaching about soft tonguing slurs, so I'm surprised by this.
Many explanations for this. It could be different on the music he’s using, it could be a piece specific theme that isn’t well notated, and it could be a style choice the player or conductor went with.
Obviously the yehaw wasn’t on the page so the band ma have taken some creative liberty
The glisses aren't written, but most players who play that solo put them in anyway. They wouldn't normally
My stomach after i eat chipotle 0:55
Damn that echo tho
nobody wants to talk about how his index finger bends like that on the mouthpiece?
Early and i play the 🎺
I’m unfamiliar “girlfriend”
What is that?
Something true trombone players don’t have
@@DanDaSavage lmao not true
Most entertaining. But please: leave the captions up long enough to read them. I'd suggest at least twice as long as you have.
The trumpet player to your right...can you get me some digits, Timo?
umm what
Playing Copeland is always a good time. Greetings from Clarinet land
Hi, What is the name of the first scene?
to the person who runs this channel there is this funny and flashy new game called trombone chap you might want to check it out
The sleigh ride ending Bb always so weird
I’ve hear you play this a couple times now on YT. Still trying to figure out why you glis into the d flat in the second section??
What group are you playing this with?
It's never a true Rodeo performance unless the orchestra properly commits to their hollerin'!
SHANIA is the best!!!
W
Which orchestra is this?
Same guy who did that funny solo? 😂
😅😅😂
I played this piece in a local orchestra group. Really fun, but the bass trombone part was a little bland for the most part.
