Both were fantastic technically and expressively, but for this silly quirky goofy little contest I gotta go with those silly quirky goofy little bone glisses
This is so cool!! It’s so rare to see musicians really just taking it out of the box in a professional orchestral performance no less! We need more of this in our field
What we should admire here is the clear mutual respect between competitors. The nods of appreciation of each other's gratuitous silliness, the wry smiles at the other's musical and theatrical achievements, the furtive glances, all done whilst making sure they don't cause them to screw up their playing. Surely the conductor knew this was afoot and should be applauded for not intervening in the spirit of good, clean competition.
I'm going for a tie - the delivery of the tromboning was exquisite such that anyone glancing in that direction would have no choice but to crack up. But the trumpet had it musically, going out of their way to try to out-trombone the trombone with their tuning slide, to the delight of everyone listening. 11/10 for both
Both are so amazing!! I can't possibly choose. It's crazy how much difference it makes to see musicians having fun and really ENJOYING their playing, it's exhilarating and thrilling to watch/hear. But sadly often gets lost in the search for technical perfection. You both nailed that so so well!!

If the goal is silly/goofy then the trombone, it's just an instrument that lends itself better to the goofier/sillier side of music - just like a slide-whistle is goofier than a recorder
Both of you sounded fantastic. Gold star. But.... I gotta go with the trumpet on this one, being a trumpeter myself. She got a little slide action going on there, too!
Hi all. Can someone tell me if that's a trombone or French horn playing in the background of this symphonic metal song? ruclips.net/video/dkqyyUTCMUQ/видео.html
Well this is unexpected, I didnt expect to find my old high school band friend on a random youtube video. You both did amazing but im gonna go with trumpet did better!
This is honestly my favorite video that I’ve seen all year, and saying I’ve seen a lot would be an understatement. Kudos to you and your band for having a great time while bringing so much enjoyment to others!
this is so great! I just watched it about 20 times (or more often) now and still doesn't have enough. made my day now 3 days in a row - thank you!! I am not sure who won, but for sure she really made a cool move by pulling the 3rd valve slide at the end. Is the complete video of the piece or even concert available somewhere? i would love to see that!
I always love either participating or watching these playful banters when they happen 😂😂 so much fun and just adds that much more entertainment during concerts 😁
I have watched this video too many times and i noticed some things i just had to point out. Firstly the clarinetplayer isn't wearing his bowtie correctly lol. Then i noticed the basclarinet is playing with a fricking facemask, how? I have also never seen such a contrabassoon before. Also the trumpet tried to immitate a trombone at the end with that valve slide lol
1. He's wearing the bow tie completely correctly! It's a different style I know some consider more 'formal'; it's called a wing collar. It leaves the bowtie completely exposed on purpose. 2. The face mask likely has a hole in it for the bass clarinetist; I've seen some that hide it under flaps. Yes, it does always decrease the quality or the deal and filter, but it makes people more comfortable while performing!
@@miabussell0229 By incorrectly i mean that he mismatches with the other people in the orchestra. Following a dresscode is important in order to look united. He probably skipped over the briefing lol
HOLY SHIT. I FINALLY FOUND THIS VIDEO. I KEPT HAVING THIS VIDEO PLAYED IN MY HEAD 2 months STRAIGHT AND I KEPT LOOKING FOR IT BUT I NEVER FOUND IT AND I JUST DID IN MY LIKED VIDEOS 😭

WOoooooooOOOW
TROMBONE SUPERIOR

exacly! i kiss your Forehead🤍
Well to have that, someone has to write the music score for that to be intended.
This is a tie. You were both supremely confident and practiced exquisite craftsmanship. (I _am_ biased toward the 'bone, though, which is I'm here).
My thoughts exactly, but I gotta give it to trombone, because the whole performance is amazing.
@@laddismaximus9535 even as a trumpet it a tie i love this

I didn't even notice at first the tuning slide ! Ahaha excellent! 😂👏👏👏
both of them sound great but nothing beats trombone
Trumpet does
A
nothing but a trumpet
But motorcycle
@@MichaelOswald05 trumpet can motorcycle if you try hard enough
You guys are wrong nothing can beat trombone 😌
The audience definitely won this one - they got 2 incredibly fun well-performed solos to listen to!
musically, it's a tie - the way you sat down just narrowly pushed me over to team trombone :D
That trumpet 3rd valve slide at the end was hilarious!!

Yale, class of 1994

props to the bassoon with the listening and coming in time.

Love the fun you’re having! Ya gotta take this show on the road!
0:22 is so pleasant to hear
I love this and would love to
find the full recording ❤❤❤
0:13 takes the cake
This is a battle that’s destined to be in the books.
Only recently found this clip and obsessed with it 😄
The music, the instruments and the lovely girls smile in the corner 🙂
Thanks for sharing this!
Wow! Love them both!

😆 Who better to play the silly trombone than Timo? You both were brilliant, you both won.
I'd say clarinet won
That trumpet player was out for blood with those smears! 😂👏🏽👏🏽
That’s Fantastic! Fun stuff in one of my favorite pieces!!🎉
I love both❤❤it makes me happy to hear it daily.
This video always puts me in a good mood 😊 I just love it. Both
Are we going to talk about how in 0:34, the girl playing I think the base clarinet is wearing a mask, how do you play with a mask on?
there is a hole in the mask meaning it is useless.
I won. I got to experience this video and those delightful solos
Damn, I love the sound of orchestral instruments.
I like how im watching random band videos and see someone from high school band! Shania you sound amazing! Making Mr. Saenz proud lol.
the trombone and the trumpet secretly make beautiful smiles

Just for the tuning slide, she won. I'm sorry I had to.
I can't tell!! It's a tie, my friend :)
Ale para. Co widzę ten filmik to nie mogę oderwać oczu. Mistrzowie youtube🎉
this is the sauciest trombone playing I've ever seen
very wholesome
Klasse, sehr gut 👏💐
Both of them are amazing
From 'Buckaroo Holiday' by Aaron Copland ('Rodeo" Suite), a humorous moment
Do you know which orchestra this one is from?
Socorro, sempre que lembro desse vídeo volto para assistir pelo menos 10 vezes.🤣
Is the tongue stop on the trumpet that wins it for me. You never do that in orchestra! Hilarious in this context. Love it.
As a former trumpet player and a current saxophone player I have to give it to the trombone
Wanted to hear the rest of it. Yes, Copeland is that good!
I'm a drummer myself, but reading through a comment section of 'bone enthusiasts is incredibly wholesome, I must say.
Aaah, too difficult - it’s a tie
WOULD YOU PLEASE POST A LINK TO THE FULL PERFORMANCE?!! Please!
I feel like the trombone played a bit more “humorously” and the trumpet played with a more orchestral sound
Honestly the trombone added like a Looney toons kind of effect
The exact ending made me laugh but awesome concert band performance.
THE MIMICS MAKE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BETTER AAAH
Дайте ссылку на полный концерт. Съемка же профессиональная.
Fell in love with the trombonist and the trumpet player, now I am basically in a dilemma.
Trombone took that one. To be fair to the trumpet, no instrument can out-silly the trombone.
That's so cool, I really like it
Trumpet

Trumbone are easily the silliest instruments. And you know it. It's just a little goofy horn.
Imagine having proper hearing protection devices (plexiglass) while you play! Couldn’t be me!

bet Aaron copland would love this

This is the type of thing my friend I sit next to and I would do at our last concert this year
That's remember me about Tom & Jerry 👍
Where I can listen the full concert?
Not the same concert but...
Aaron Copland - Four Dance Episodes “from Rodeo” 1. Buckaroo Holiday
Both played perfectly, but the trombone with its slide can inherently be a better musical comedian.
Plot twist
The clarinet
Mic drop moment -- trombone guy's slow sarcastic sitdown
As an oboeist I feel sad that you ended it right there
Ouch
Don't worry the oboe part after the trumpet solo is the same as the clarinet so he didn't cut the oboe off
lights me up everytime..
The music is what the music is. Period. They were there to play what was required. And they did so flawlessly.
That was excellent!
Where can I please listen to the whole piece of this nice music?
