When we went on this, we were sceptical and weren't totally convinced, we thought it was just a fast ride and that's about it. BUT this ride was the most adrenaline pumping ride i have ever been on!! The acceleration is soooo insanely fast that you can't breath for the first few seconds and it has you totally noiseless, you can't even shout, that's how much it takes your breath away. Needless to say, at the end we were convinced that this was the best ride at Fuji-Q. The video doesn't quite do it justice, even on the ground watching it doesn't seem as hair raising as it really is, but it's awesome!

@@hegoney5841 Tough to convey the feeling but the acceleration G's were akin to being hit by a Mack truck already going 110+ mph...and the top hat was like the ejector on an RMC because it was only 171 feet tall (despite even having trims before and on it).
Unfortunately the implementation of the loop killed this ride for good. Glad I got to experience it in it's OG configuration, nothing may ever match this.

+Cody Dierkes He's actually explained this before and it's quite simple. He and Alyssa both have simple medium income jobs. He put it like this, "some people choose to spend their money going out to eat and go to movies and go to bars, we save ours to fly to parks." Not exact wording, but close.
I did this also this year, I flew to Cedar Point twice, King's Island, King's Dominion, Six Flags Great Adventure, and Valley Fair. I'm a college student, engaged, and just a security guard to pay for school. I'm debt free, just I choose to go ride rides instead of going out to eat all the time. It's all about budgeting :)

Cedar Fair owned parks are much nicer to walk around and look at than Six Flags owned parks is something I also learned this year. Dominator was one of the roughest floor less roller coasters I've ever ridden, but a new experience none the less.

  • @themeparkreview

We had a "tolerable" visit this time around. The park suffers from poor operations and if it wasn't for the FastPasses that are $10 per ride, we would have waited in HOURS worth of long lines. Worth every penny to make the park not "terrible." But sad that you have to go that route to enjoy it.

This was one HELL of a rollercoaster. As of 2017, the drop has changed to a loop and the name is now Dododonpa, plus the acceleration got ramped up a little I believe. It really does feel like your face has got pulled off as you launch, it's the first time I've felt absent minded after a ride. The same could be said of basically all the rollercoasters at Fuji-Q, they're all top-notch, definitely worth going to.

One thing I've never understood about RCT is this:
You have a park, that has very bad litter problems, frequent break downs, and not enough mechanics, lots of negative rating, a few deadly rollercoasters, that you "accidentally" forgot to finish, lots of vomit everywhere.... and suddenly:
You have won an award: Safest Park.

The actual acceleration of the launch would be 2.7 g's of force. 0-107mph in 1.8 seconds gives you almost 3 gs of force. Quite an intense launch!

I have to ask I've rode Kingda Ka and I see on the charts that the G-forces are nothing compared to this. Kinga Ka pulls 1.7gs and Dodonpa pulls 2.7gs. How would you stack this against Kingda Ka?

There’s a sound system inside air powered coaster 1 that says “launch time/raunch time”

I am fine with the speed on this coaster. The scariest part is how fast the coaster reaches that speed. The acceleration on this coaster is nuts!

Well did you see the episode of Insane Coaster Wars where they featured this ride? They had mounted pov, but they didn't show the whole thing

What are you talking about? S&S Worldwide still make air thrust coasters. Go on their website and it's still available for sale.
You are right though they are very smooth.
