      @@halfalligator6518 what inspired the weeknd’s was actually michael jackson and his music but the weeknd shows more raw talent in his earlier stuff w a hint of mj, you hear more mj sounding music in his newest album Dawn FM and ofc his cover of Dirty Diana called D.D. He Began Dark R&B as the genre with his amazing trilogy and how he puts his dark life story into a dark, slow sounding ambience which makes it Dark R&B. nowadays it’s mostly put into play w like “toxic lover” music put into that dark ambience sounding music

    • @logan-pe4rm
      @logan-pe4rm Год назад +3

      @@HarveygregorxotwodThe Trilogy versions didn’t make any major changes besides removal of a few samples (that sucked tbh so i get if you prefer og versions) and all of the changes the Trilogy versions made were welcomed imo. Every song sounds clearer, louder, and just genuinely mixed better. It does lose some of the “amateur” fuzzy charm of the original, but it’s worth it for the bass and total clarity of the instrumentals & abel’s beautiful ass voice on the Trilogy versions.
      Seriously, grab a pair of good bassy headphones and listen to the trilogy and og versions of songs like Wicked Games and HoB/GtG back to back.

    Being In high school when these mixtapes came out…it’s something I really can’t even explain. I had broken up with my girl of 4 years my senior year, was finally free to try things I never could (drinking, drugs, talking to new people, really just seeing other sides of life for the first time) I can’t tell you how much these records influenced that, for better or worse. It was the sound track to my freedom and being who I wanted to be and making the mistakes that everyone needs to make.
