This the worst weekend album

The bridge in "Tears in the Rain" is one of my favorite moments in music, it's tattooed in my soul forever.
u mean she has no recollection?
couldnt agree more
@@unknown12779 Yep. That's the one. I always repeat that shit 10 times
smoking the fattest blunt to this between mac and the weeknd it’s the two discographies i want bob to do more of
Same
REAL
This in my opinion is the Weeknds best written and most cohesive album. Anyone who is really XO knows this is one of his best projects. It may not have any major radio singles but it’s a concept album and people don’t appreciate that. I fucking love this album so much. What’s crazy is it’s the only weeknd album that didn’t hit for me on first listen every listen of this album it got better. Tears in the rain is the best weeknd song of all time also
yessir this album is an experience
Tears in the rain is for real one of the most beautiful songs in music history imo
From your mouth to God's ears! 💯💯
My favourite weekend album for sure
In his interview, The Weeknd did say this album was very lyrical compared to his other projects, and he actually prefer to do these types of songs but it's just not going to be commercially successful.
1:11:32 trust us bob WE WANT WEEKND REACTIONS!!
PLEASE🙏🙏🙏
Yesss
This is one of my favorite albums of all time, masterpiece
same
Holy fuck about time. Thank you bob.
DO NOT SKIP ANY ALBUMS, please, they all have a major role in his life and they each have bangersss, idk who told you that
FR EVERY PART IS IMPORTANT
💯💯
The Cole tape is cool, but this is SO much cooler. As much praise as this album gets, I still find it underrated. The level of musicality in the production goes unnoticed. These instrumentals are INSANE for someone who just got a cosign from Drake (not a dig at Drake either btw) but the textures of synths, and strings and guitars... it's like an album from The Cure on steroids with 808s lol I can nerd out over this thing forever
fr the soundscape here was insane!!
This album also paved the way for him creating Dawn FM
hope you'll be checkin out more of the weeknds catalog
His magnum opus as far as im concerned
Echoes of silence is better for me, but kissland is still great
For me it’s after hours but I love this album and the triolgy as well
I'd say House of Balloons is his magnum opus just for the pure fact that it was his 1st full piece as The Weeknd, the impact it had, as well as the quality overall. No misses. Kissland to me would be either 2 or 3 competing with After Hours. Kissland is so unique tho, so I can see the argument for it being #1
@@WillyChambshis discography seems so diverse but connected at the same time . But he perfects all those sounds , says slot of him people camt decide on a favorite
Adaptation might by my favorite thing he’s ever made, that outro is a fucking movie
15:29 I knew he'd pause right at the piano! Lol called it
love that you commented on how the songs are 'patient' as I see people say this album is boring, but in my opinion the slow sonic spaces it creates are similar to atmospheres created in 'Blonde' and 'Untrue' by Burial
excellent point, the weeknd’s early work sounds heavily influenced by burial (part of the reason i love it so much!!!)
This album is like Trilogy on a grander scale, like the Trilogy was for his time in Montreal or 65 Spencer (the actual House of Balloons), but Kissland is that darkness spreading throughout a much larger landscape.
After Hours is Trilogy on a grander scale, if we’re being forreal. It’s like Abel returning to his Trilogy roots but carrying along all the experience and evolutions he’s made at that point in his career. Kiss Land is very much it’s own thing, and I think that’s a great thing
@@logan-pe4rm I agree After Hours (my favorite album of his) is bigger than both definitely, but Kiss Land isn't its own thing. It's definitely an evolution of Trilogy. It has the same energy. And as much as I do agree with your statement about After Hours being even more grand than Trilogy, technically...you can say that about all of his albums post Trilogy since it's all one story, chapter after chapter. He's on record saying After Hours doesn't exist without Kiss Land...but to dial it back, let's leave After Hours over there since I wasn't talking about that album. This is solely about Kiss Land until he gets to that album.
exactly how i see kissland as well. trilogy is this claustrophobic feeling like you're trapped in a little room filled with marijuana smoke but kissland is the whole city in a storm
@@yesmk000 perfectly said, i always thought of trilogy as claustrophobic and kiss land as a dark but neo rainy city
Spreading throughout Tokyo, Japan.
HIS BEST ALBUM IN MY OPINION🗣
Professional and Tears in the Rain r still his best intro and outro 2 this day
Angel and the knowing are really good too
its very good (kissland is my fav album) however . tbh, high for this intro & till dawn outro is just perfection in sequence of an album.
Oh yes. And Alone Again is up there for me. " So I throw 2,000 ones in the sky"🔥🔥
Belong to the world has to be his most underrated song
the euphoria I get from the bridge and final chorus is wild
finally! my favourite album. imo his best body of work
his best body of work is Trilogy (it’s easier than listing all 3 of those mixtape titles and I prefer the Trilogy mixes for most songs) but I totally respect your opinion
same i love this more than any of his other album wise coz you know the vids for this the transitions after songs are some god tier shit . And also i was in that stage of life where i had some shit going through and i just found this gem and just grabbed it off and he became my music god
nice to see you checking out R&B on the channel! i’d love to see you check out the rest of the weeknd’s stuff
I hope I'm not coming off condescending but it sounds like you don't know, he's actually done a fair few other R&B albums. In terms of contemporary R&B, he's done The Weeknd's mixtape trilogy, KTSE by Teyana Taylor, SZA's two albums, and Beyoncé's Lemonade (and Renaissance but obviously that's more house than R&B). He's also done Thriller by Michael Jackson if you want something more old school, and he's done Voodoo by D'Angelo and Baduizm by Erykah Badu if you like neo soul
Now we need some Sade reactions
@@default3252 yeah i saw that literally 3 minutes after making that comment 😭 still a rare occurrence for the channel
I think this is the best reaction/analysis for kissland
for sure is i am so satisfied
I definitely had the biggest smile from this. Fully satisfied 😊
No The Weeknd album is worth skipping Bob; I really don’t think you’d be disappointed with any of them. Crazy that someone even said that
DAYUMMM BOB 💥😳 didn't expected this at all. Let me grab a f beer!
You are probably one of the best reactors out there on youtube. The way you pay attention to every single detail, from the production to lyrics to symbolsim to everything. 10/10 way of reacting to music 👏🏼👏🏼
so fucking true
i never was that excited to watch a reaction or yours. this is my fav album of all time!!!!
you like it more then HoB, Thursday, EoS, After Hours and MDM?
Well, TECHNICALLY all of those except for After Hours are mixtapes/EPs so they don’t technically classify as albums.
On a literal level, The Weeknd’s only studio albums are Kiss Land, Beauty Behind The Madness, Starboy, After Hours, Dawn FM. Hopefully I didn’t miss one.
So, with that in mind and working within those restrictions, I still think I prefer After Hours. It captures the same sinister cinematic feel of Kiss Land, but it feels more cohesive and concise to me. However, Kiss Land has some of my favorite Abel tracks ever. I wouldn’t wanna live a world where I had to choose between these two records.
I totally respect your decision though bro. I wonder what makes this your favorite specifically though?
For me, this is The Weeknd’s best album. It encapsulates all the fear and isolation clashing with the excitement, and the vastness of the possibilities fame can offer you. Somehow it’s so spacious and so claustrophobic at the same time. Industrial in a way that feels otherworldly, like a glimpse into a life most of us will never know.
A masterpiece the world wasn’t ready for, in my opinion.
Kissland is like the same character just in a different setting
The Weeknd is the greatest artist of this generation regardless of genre 💯
This is my favorite Weeknd project and one of my favorite albums of all time. Untouchable.
Can't wait for you to go through more of Abel's discography, Bob. One of the best music reactors on RUclips.
Pleeease go through the whole discography in order. Craziest ride and evolution of an artist.
how he compares himself to the hookers is so genius i cant even put into words how much i admire the atmosphere created on this tape
Tears In The Rain is my favorite song of all time for a reason. The chorus, bridge, verses, ad libs, everything is done to perfection💚
I’m glad you did this instead of the average ass j cole response 😭
i think you & jon denton are the goats right now :) just a matter of time before abel acknowledges you ;) hope you will meet him aswell & listen more to his full catalog because he is from a different world for all of us to experience
10 years later and I’m still astonished how CINEMATIC this album is. Truly incredible. XOTWOD FOREVER 🖤
Underrated album 🙌🏾 can't wait to see the rest of the discography
Also good point about TPAB, I agree
Probably his best album lyrically and vocally. Crazy how I wasn’t the biggest fan of this project when it initially released, it took me a few years to get into. Album gets better the more you listen to it.
I call this his poetic album lyrically phenomenal.
Nah Bob you gotta react to his whole discography! They are just that good. Great reaction, keep it up!
so happy you've gotten around to this one, one of my favorites of all time
Hey Bob, I don’t think you should skip any of the albums, all of them are worth a listen for sure
He can definitely skip Starboy lol
Exactly, it’s better if he sees the evolution buy maybe he doesn’t get in time for the new album
He can skip My Dear Melancholy and maybe star boy
@@grimmfan1483My Dear Melancholy is so underrated. I don’t think he should skip that
@@AM_VITALBob will definitely love My Dear Melancholy.
I was ecstatic when I saw you were reacting to Kissland and as per usual you never disappoint! I love your reactions and I'm glad you're enjoying The Weeknd cause he is frickin amazing! Kissland is so underrated but it's so incredible! I can't believe people are saying there's a few albums to skip 💀I think if you're pressed for time you could expedite to After Hours and Dawn FM but I feel like you need to listen to My Dear Melancholy cause you'll understand the reason why After Hours exists. It's a short EP of 6 songs and it's monumental. It's so worth it to listen to his entire discography! The album after Kissland is where he blew up and it's packed with hits! I love your interpretations which are so on point for a first listen. Thanks Bob, I really appreciate and enjoy you! ❤💯🔥
I'm so glad you enjoyed Kiss Land, and you basically nailed it on what the album was trying to convey. My favorite part of your reactions are your interpretations.
Tears in the rain is one of the greatest outro tracks of all time
literally the best album to put on when it’s raining outside and you just want to put it on when you’re stuck inside your house.
I really like how you focused on the thematical concept of the weeknd hiding the “ugly” in his music and it really fits with the title of his next album titled Beauty behind the madness.
BBTM is one of his most criticized albums because it’s when he transitioned from r&b to pop, but if there’s someone I can see still being able to derive a theme/message from it, it’s you lol. The music videos for bbtm are really interesting too.
BBtM is iconic. If I’m honest, they all are in their own ways.
His best written album. Production is insane. Crazy vocal runs. Great project
Thank you Bob! Youll love the weeknd even more now! He is such an amazing artist.
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS LETS GO
The Weeknd's absolute best body of work. I can't get enough of people discovering this album for the first time. It's a masterpiece.
I love this album more than words can describe. Looking forward to your experience with this Bob!
I love this album man, it pulls you into a whole other world
Wanderlust has to be my favorite song the weeknd has ever made
It’s funny cuz the last song you were talking about in echoes of silence is actually titled echoes of silence
Definitely don't skip out on any of the Weeknds albums! Even though some are bad, it's cool to see his evolution into the music he makes today. Interesting artist tbh. I haven't really thought about him that way until reading through these comments Bob. Damn your community is dope lol. Also definitely didn't write this while high 😅 lmao
None of them are bad, it's a matter of personal preference.
@@hskrnrs8128 fair. I think HoB and Kissland are overall not great but weekend is one of those artists
Been waiting for this Bob! Excited to watch!
YESSSS!!! I'm sooo happy my favorite reaction guy is doing one of my favorite albums!
Love your take on how Abel explores the Ugliness of his lifestyle & personality he embodies as "The Weeknd". You dissected it eloquently, Thank you!
Can't wait for After Hours Reaction which is also a complete and cohesive body of work imo.
Bob, really hope you see this. This is my favorite Weeknd body of work. Right when you said "i might listen and not read along more" after talking about how 'i decide when we're through' ties into the silence in the first track, i realized i hadn't put that together myself, and ive heard this song a hundred times 😂. So i think there is value in readling along, especially in a reaction channel type setting. It might hinder your own experience, but it will help your viewers I think. It just helped me! Just somehing to think about. But again, as you said, dont let other people tell you how to listen to music 🤣
🎯🎯🎯
💯💯
I can't believe I actually thought it'd be the new Cole tape for tonight's reaction. I am a fool.
Oh fuck yeah
tears in the rain and wicked games will always be my fav songs EVER
if you want to skip ahead in his discography, i think skipping to my dear melancholy is a good spot. its like the warm up before the newest trilogy. it’s extremely personal. it’s also rly short because it’s an EP
Omg I've been waiting so much for your reaction to this album. One of the greatest in his discography and one of my favorites! 💚
You know it’s a good album when you’re constantly saying this is my favourite song lmao
imo this is by far his best album
older albums weren't so cohesive, newer sounds too mainstream at times - this one is perfect mixture
I been waiting for this sooooo long
YEESSSS MY FAV ALBUM BY ABEL 🥰🥰
holy shitttt been waiting for this!
Love that you absolutely soaked up the unreal finale that is Tears in the Rain!
Omfg i been waitin for this
I just got my kissland cds i have all of his cds and I'm happy to see you react to kissland.
YESSSS THANK YOU BOB
Kiss Land lovers peep this... Make a playlist, cut Live For and put Odd Look between Wanderlust and Kiss Land. Not even hating on Live For. Its just better this way.
Wanderlust, Odd Look, and Kiss Land all fit together thematically if you analyze the lyrics- and the 80's production themes from Wanderlust go right into Odd Look.
The drama is so thick and intense with this simple edit! It is a superior experience. Give it a listen.
"belong to the world" is about Abel comparing himself and relating to a hooker (a girl of the streets) the world in this context meaning the streets, he acknowledges he should stereotypically mistreat her as people see hookers as lesser women but he relates to her experience because of how he sees his tour life and broken relationship because of that tour, sge was the first that made him love and smile because it was the first person that have a similar experience in a sense, not my favourite song on the album but it's a perfect song to sum up the theme of the whole album
Also, trust me no album is worth skipping. All his albums are incredible and worth every listen. But if u prefer, u can skip to after hours and dawn fm and listen to bbtm, starboy and mdm after which is fine
bro does perfect reactions other than not letting the songs transition into the next
Great review!
BOB I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
the "Pretty" music video is worth watching if you're interested
the combo Adaptation + Love In The Sky is my favorite thing from his catalog, soooooooo good
My God.
I'm new to watching other people react to music, I discovered this channel through a friend about 2 weeks ago and wow, the way he comments is just mesmerizing, I'm not very aware of the "community" of this kind of videos, but I can say that this is one of the best there can be.
Moving on to KissLand, my god, I watched the Trilogy videos and was hooked on waiting for KissLand, this guy made me feel like I was reacting to the album for the first time. This is definitely my favorite Abel album, the atmosphere is simply out of this world, and can you give proof of this, this is the kind of reaction I was hoping for.
Bob, if you happen to read this, wait for a new patreon subscription, that 2 dollars a month is nothing to see you react to the Pretty video.
Much love Bob, greetings from Mexico. 🇲🇽❤️🙏
Top 2 The Weeknd and it AIN'T 2 😤😤😤
love the return to the series
One of the best albums of the 2010s
Don’t skip any album! Every album has its own era & lore behind it even down to the hair, appearance, content and sound growth, his artist development is amazing and the albums capture it well. Even My dear Melancholy, which is like an EP
Pretty music video will put not only the song but the rest of the album in perspective. Even the background screams begin to make sense
To fully encapsulate the growth Abel has achieved from the beginning (HOB, Thursday, EOS) to now, it’s recommended to go through all projects. Especially when you note the ugly side that Abel shows with the “Pretty” (which will be a great video to react to) Beauty Behind The Madness continues with that concept with more reflection and growth in the story and character.
sooo hyped for this reaction 😁😁
Yes to more The Weeknd album reactions!!! My favourite album of all time, alongside After Hours 🤍
Favorite song is love in the sky; this is his first true album. He was so expressive with production and the story of himself changing and shifting in this phase. Saw him live and he gave sooo much fan service in this era. One of my favorite of all time.
What I wouldn’t give to be able to hear this album for the first time again. Such a ride
About time!
19:45 what a breakdown, analysis and comparison. Bravo my friend
FINALLY BOB
Kissland always hits better everytime u listen to it. like it took me many listens to finally appreciate it
this album is so fucking incredible. I have had it in my most listened to albums every day since 2016. everything about it always draws me back.
That second half of kiss land is one of the most underrated moments in his whole discography
I’m so glad you loved this album. I know you get this all the time, but this is my favorite album of all time. I was so worried you were gonna skip this and go straight to after hours. My favorite song changes a lot but it’s between: professional, adaptation, and tears in the rain.
Bob! I love your channel. The length of your videos threw me off at first but I love how in depth you go. It’s given me different perspectives of albums I listen to. I got the 1,000th like lol
About fucking time, bob you are a mf legend ❤
