It wasn't until I got to an adult that I realise how powerful the ending scene with Del Boy is in the flat. They say there are two tragedies in life, one is to never get your heart's desire, the other one is to get it. He spent all of those years trying to become a millionaire, when he finally got there, he didn't know what to do next. "The hunt was over". as he said. I really wish it would have ended it here.
"May all your dreams come true but one".
What really blows my mind is that one guy wrote every episode - talk about genius 🤘🏻
My two favourite funny parts in this episode are
"During the 1939-1945 conflict with Germany"
And
"Not only have you managed to sink every aircraft carrier and battleship you've ever sailed on, but know you've now gone and knackered the gravy boat!"
Makes me laugh every time
😆😆😆
People cried in happiness for Del and Rodney when this came out. I don't think there has been a Christmas special like it since.
This links to the first episode, where Rodney introduces receipts to the business. He lists a Victorian egg timer.
The beautiful thing about this is the watch was shown in the very first episode! And Del chucks it on the cooker, so the entire time, they have had this watch! They've literally been millionaires the whole time!
The moment where Rodney buys del the rolls Royce for me is the most sincere beautiful moment in British comedy history. Gives me chills.
Best episode of any British show in tv history.
I've been waiting for Josh to watch my most favourite episode of only fools and horses, anyway stay happy and healthy everyone ✌️
They're all as good as each other, even the last Christmas specials, in my opinion anyways.
Thank you, this episode was great =]
You're exactly right. This WAS the final episode, John Sullivan was done, he'd had enough. But the public love this show, and kept demanding to bring it back and do more, and the demand was so great that he eventually caved. In my opinion, it was a mistake, he should've left it here.
This episode was watched by 24.3 million people, about half the population of the UK at the time, and remains to this day the most watched comedy episode of all time, and the fifth most watched in UK TV overall, after some episodes of Eastenders and Corrie, and the broadcast of Live Aid (not counting special events like news or sports).
i enjoyed the final 3 episodes, especially the last 2. sleepless in peckham had a nice ending too, rodney with his baby and him finding out who his real dad was. also ended up with a bit of money from albert
Circle 28 agreed : ) this one was a the ending we deserved but there was some good moments in the last few that I think made it worth bringing back
@@seanpittaway5341 exactly. and we can see in this very episode del was never truly happy with all the money. he liked ducking and diving and all the excitement that came with it
Circle 28 bonnet de douche! 👍
Interesting, thanks for sharing bud.
“No, no Rodney, I’ll buy the sandwiches, cos you bought the Rolls” 🤣
The fact that (mikes) Ken McDonalds final line before he died was 'on the house del' is perfect...
Raquel's father- This is marvelous. I've never been so excited.
Del Boy- I bet Audrey had a blinding honeymoon then.
There's something unbelievably satisfying about a show's final episode being a 10/10. Bloody rare too
One of my favourite episodes. I always thought it was poignant that Del spent all those years trying to become a millionaire and the answer was in his garage the whole time.
My favourite episode, the auction scene never gets old
This episode was fantastic and so was the auction scene =]
Such a great "last" episode whether they made more or not. Del finally gets what he wants and the applause from his friends, but in the end he realises the journey is better than the destination.
There's a couple of more episodes
The really sad thing is that so many of them have passed in real life. This show was such a highlight of Christmas.Families all used to get together to watch it.
That is so sad, this show was truly great.
This really should have been the last episode. It would've been the perfect way to end one of the greatest shows ever made. The later Christmas specials are fine, but they're just not the same.
I agree. It was originally supposed to be the final episode and should have stayed that way. The episodes after this just didn't feel the same.
I agree, I didn’t watch it after this episode.
Totally agree. But we had to watch😍😍😍
I didn’t watch the extra ones, as this was the PERFECT finish. This is the only way I know it finishes.
I remember at the time some viewers were annoyed that the programme continued after they became millionaires
"Not only have you managed to sink every aircraft carrier and battleship you've ever set foot on.. but now you've gone and knackered a gravy boat".
Probably my favourite ever OFAH line.
I love that you think W is for Wally! We in Britain think wanker! 😂
I love the next three episodes but as this was originally the last episode I really like how they handled it. They didn’t do the age old thing of raking over the past, making it a big tribute episode full of Easter eggs and callbacks and fan service and surprise cameos. They just had a simple, funny plot, that managed to build up to a lovely finale.
The only time they did that was at the end when Rodney mentioned that time del said they'd won a holiday but for the entire week he had to pretend to be 15, which was "the unlucky winner is....." episode.
Although the story did tie back to the first ever episode when Del was telling Rodney to stop doing receipts; in the first ever scene. So it came full circle nicely.
It’s hard to know what to say after this episode. It’s not overstating it to say that it’s part of British television history. One of the great standout moments. There hasn’t really been a sitcom before or since that the population took to their hearts as much. All credit to the writer and perfect casting.
Trigger is such a legend 😂😂
ouuuuu 😂
‘They’re only doing it. They’re only out there doing it now. They’re only pouring maxwell bleedin’ house, over their lamb noisettes and veg’ - my favorite line of only fools and horses 🤣
LOL that was a great line =]
Its very difficult to not be choked up by this episode, fantastic to see them come good after all the years of struggling. Glad you enjoyed it Josh, keep up the top work ✌
Couldn't agree more.
Been waiting for this for so long, finally the trotters get what they deserve ❤
Not in my book,,
That gandhi line is one of the best lines in any TV show ever 😁
This is my all time favourite episode, finally their dreams came true. That part in the rocking car too ha, classic
After so many years i still consider this to be the true ending of the show. Its hard to put into words how impactful this felt, growing up in a poor household seeing my parents grafting for little reward. Ive always related so much to the trotters and to have them finally realise the dream... even to the point that it was tinged with sadness for meaning the chase was finally over. Its so evident that John Sullivan was always writing from the heart. He knew exactly how to tell both the happy and sad parts of a story and he fully understood how much the dream of overcoming your surroundings really means to people.
In my opinion this is the best show ever produced from the UK, and i loved your reactions to it Josh. Cheers 👍
The "They are only doing it" scene is one of my faves, like, just how Del drifts in with that face!
Pure treasure of a setup that, even when Albert tries to get out of it and del goes "No no unc" and pours it all over his dinner!
Genius comedy writing which we never see anymore really.
This WAS the final episode. The absolute perfect ending.
The remaining 3 aren't a patch on this trilogy, they still have moments, but honestly, I think it's such a shame that the 1996 trilogy wasn't left alone, as they all form an absolute masterpiece of comedy.
he still enjoyed the others especially alberts episode
Totally agree. They should've just left it alone as this was a perfect ending
I’ve seen every OFAH episode so many times, but I’ve become so invested in your videos, sharing the joy of you watching like it’s the first time again. Thank you 🙏🏻
Same here. I laugh along with Josh as if it's my first viewing too! 😂
To me this should have been it for Only Fools. They tried to string the last few episodes out, never really got into them.
Will always continue to rewatch older episodes forever though.
"if you say 'during the war' once more, I'll pour this cup of tea over your 'ead"
"during the 1939-1945 conflict with Germany"
genius writing
Surely you must know it was 1939
@@djsteves554 finger slipped, simple typo, didn't notice until you said, thanks, edited
@@iamdb1990 haha no worries
In the I Spy game, Rodney thought the W was going to stand for Wanker
Only John Sullivan can make you laugh and cry at the same time, the man was a genius in making his characters feel relatable. “It’s the only way I could get you talking. Can’t run away in broken lift” always gets me 👌
I will never forgive them for taking this ending away from us.
This was originally supposed to be the last episode hence them walking into the sunset, for a lot of people these was the end and they tend to ignore the last three
I have heard some others say the same.
This was a good ending to a legendry show, I was surprised they did more, nobody wanted it to end, it was so well written.
I still get emotional watching this, these characters had been in our living rooms for so long and it's hard to overstate the quality of David Jason's acting and what he brought to the role, so often packing an emotional punch alongside the comedy.
The fact that they became millionaires is not the point the fact del missed being del is amazing John Sullivan was a one off a genius making you laugh is tough making you laugh and cry at the same is pure genius the best show ever
Originally, this was supposed to be the last ever episode. I’m my view, it remains the final chapter in a remarkable 16 year show. The significance of the watch was it was in their lockup the entire time the show was aired as we followed their struggle to make it.
I’m gutted you’ve watched them all, bar a few extra episodes. but it’s been so good to watch you watch this great tv show.
My dad, Nana and me watch your videos all the time.
Makes my day and theirs.
So thank you josh.
We’ve never spoke but I know you’re a good man and if you’re ever in England give us a shout and I’ll be happy to show you around and you can come for a nice British meal with mine yours brother
Cheers Josh, so great to watch this with you, a comedic & reactionary masterclass from both 😁👏🏻👍🇬🇧
"During the 1939-1945 conflict with Germany." 😂😂
Thank you for the reaction Josh. That was sweet and funny at the same time. My ‘go to’ sitcom when I feel very low. 😊
The watch they sell is actually believed to exist. Harrison chronometers are in a museum in Greenwich, he changed navigation with his inventions and also if you look in the back of the van when it's rocking you can see a guy in the back rocking it!
This and little problems ending is really well written and acted . Tear jerker
Josh, you'll probably miss this because it's hours after but I have to say there's two reasons I always watch your reactions when I see them. One reason is that you're personality is amazing, if I'm miserable, your laugh will pick me up. The second reason is that I always want to see what vest you have on because they're always brilliant
Thanks bud I really appreciate that. Take care and have a great week =]
To this day, it still holds the record for the most watched episode for a sitcom in the UK.
Many people will say that it should have ended here and I would have agreed at the time but as I got older I think the final episode was actually a better ending IMO.
I'll say the last 3 episodes wasn't the best although Strangers On Shore was a funny episode but the final episode was a bit tame although a very nice ending to the show
I agree, the Calais episode was hilarious. I also felt Rodney and Cass got the ending they deserved, and it showed that money wasn’t what would make them happy in the end!
That is wild man, it is a really great episode.
Really enjoyed watching your journey with Only Fools & Horses. Fantastic 👍🏻
You definitely NEED to watch the last few episodes of the show.
If They Could See Us Now
Strangers On The Shore
Sleepless In Peckham
Beckham In Peckham
The ironic thing about this episode and them becoming millionaires is that they are able to prove they own the watch due to Rodney keeping receipts and in the very first episode 'Big Brother' we see Rodney making receipts for all their purchases etc. so they've been millionaires from the very first episode and never knew about it. Also this was meant to be the last episode but apparently Nicholas Lyndhurst spoke to John Sullivan, the creator and writer, at the final scene and he said John had a look to say it might not be over so John Sullivan still was thinking of what could come next. The next few episodes are still good but this would still be a great finale.
My heart goes out to you Josh, I saw how heavy it can be for some viewers....think of the lift and how you need to get it out :)
Ahh the episode we’ve all been waiting for josh to see
I love only fools and horses, i really really do. Some of the best family moments watching these growing up, my only niggle was i wished they had finished the series on this episode on them finally making it.
I do like the revival 3 episodes that came later, but this is what I consider the end of the show. It was perfect as is and didn't need more. The only dangling thread was Rodney and Cassandra becoming parents but they didn't need to tell that story.
Lemon grass is a long stalky plant, has a lemony ginger taste popular in Asian foods, can make tea from it too. I'm not sure why she needed it with her lamb. Maybe to roast with the garlic and the potatoes from her list..I guess it just shows her nerves and eagerness to impress her parents. Great episode, I'm crying and laughing all over the place. They all walk off into the sunset, you know their mom is looking down with pride at how it's all ended up. X
She also never did make the red wine sauce 🙄🤣
@@itsafunnyoldworld haha it looks like she just made a Sunday roast. Carrots, cabbage, sprouts, potatoes and maybe yorkies or some kinda brown meat.. And then the powdered coffee/gravy. Sure del said pudding was orange segments with spray can cream! Reminded me of the royle family where Barbara gives them canned fruit with whipped cream
Thanks for a great reaction. I always felt that they should have ended it there - the perfect silver lining but we still have a few left and of course I won't give spoilers away.
Best ever series made in the world we know its only tv program but when they won millions,we all flet happy for them after all the struggles win millions.
Just great wholesome television. One of my all time favourites.
Loved your reaction, Gooday from Australia I subbed 😇
When Rodney just reveals the paper to Boyice face dropping .
At the time this was the last actual episode, until they decided to make 3 more Christmas specials between 2001 and 2003, really worth watching. This was such emotional ending to Only fools and Horses ever, if you go back the first ever episode in 1981 they were already millionaires from the start and yeah obviously not realised it until 16 years later.
He’s actually writing the receipt in the first scene of episode one
2 beautiful touches in this episode.
The watch is a real historical piece and is still lost
The only records they ever kept (the receipt that proved they owned the watch) was mentioned in one of the first lines in episode 1 which ties the story arc in beautifully
Well we’ve had worse days……
My favourite episode of OFAH….. will you review some mothers do have them…. Similar time made as fawlty towers. Very funny British classic
They did a spin off after it all ended called something like "Rock and chips" that was a bit more serious but a great watch, some funny bits but was a prequal.
This definitely should have been the last episode. However one thing I would have changed about it is I wouldn’t have had the storyline where Cassandra has a miscarriage in the previous episode; instead I would have had Rodney receive a phone call after he and Del become millionaires informing him that Cassandra has gone into labour and she has the baby here.
The episode your talking about is Freddie the frog and the missing gold
Only fools and horses is the most successful comedy sitcom in the UK.please do the whole series

This is one of my favourite episodes
The elevator scene always gets to me really touching. Especially because my late mum bottled up her emotions her whole life regarding a miscarriage prior to having me left her with a lot of emotional scars.
I've been waiting for this I hope you liked this loved it as a kid
This should of been the last outing
Followed your videos a good year now since coming across them in quarantine. Sad to see you've finished what I always consider the grandaddy of British sitcoms. This one for so many (including myself) is the true ending...but the last three aren't bad... Just a bit tacked on. Love the videos as always.
This time next year we could be billionaires! Perfect last line 👏
The gravy/coffee fiasco was great lol😅
The actor who played Raquel’s dad has died today. RIP Michael Jayston. Thank you for making our loveable rogues become millionaires
This is the final episode.
It was originally supposed to be the end of the show.
The decision to make 3 more was a terrible one. They weren't good, didn't feel the same and kind of ruined the perfect ending that this episode was originally supposed to be.
44:25 That would've been the sensible thing to do, clear all one's debts, but this is Del Boy we're talking about.
52:38 "Rosebud."
Rock & Chips should follow on from the Only Fools reviews after the last 3!!
“ I’ll buy the sandwiches coz you bought the Rolls”
finally became an millionaire - loved it. Would have been the perfect ending but I really enjoyed the next special after this one also. A great watch. Enjoy
Thanks bud, I really enjoyed this one. It was nice to see them finally make it.
The watch or maybe receipt was referenced in the very first episode if I'm not mistaken, meaning they were sat on millions from the beginning. Great show and should have left it there.
You got to react to Rock and Chips only fools spin off 👍🏻👍🏻
Loved it. Entirely different type of show though, some people hated it . I thought it was great to see characters bought to life that we’d only heard of,or seen ,when old like aunt Renee
Great spin off with a different style more of a drama-comedy, one for the enthusiasts.
Thanks bud I have that on my list =]
Great episode!😄. Take a look at men behaving badly series 2 onwards, laughter guaranteed.👍🏻
Nobody was bitter or jealous about them making it rich. End the show there. I love Raquels parents when they arrive “she did say he was older than her’ 😂😂
Brilliant episode
Earned a sub just for your laugh brother
sadly this was the last ever episode with Buster Merryfield as Uncle Albert who died 3 years later
This was supposed to be the last episode, and probably should have been. Walking off into the sunset. They brought it back for 3 more episodes spread over 3 christmases. I would maybe not bother watching the next 3. They werent very good if I remember rightly, over time they may have been more appreciated, not sure. Ive watched this episode about 10 times or more and it still gets me every time. The fact they were really millionaires the entire time
You missed the Mother Nature's Son episode dude
You need to watch only rock and chips - young delboy
Thanks bud I will add that to my list.
“Well we’ve had worse days…” is the line! We’ve watched them all for years and have seen the ups and downs. It really was the perfect ending. The others after were awful in my opinion. Rock and chips had its moment but the others with that new Damien kid doing Ali G lines was awful.
Great episode they finally made it
I think you would like Men Behaving Badly sit com, the British one. Several series. Really funny. Worth starting from beginning
This is THE episode. The biggest episode :)
You missed S7 Ep9 (Mother nature's son) Pecham spring also you missed the episode about the diamond smuggling early in the series( S4 Ep 8( To Hull and back) the reason RAQUAEL ex husband the cop went to jail.
