Trigger's Broom is actually an instance of an ancient philosophical question originally known as the "Ship of Theseus". The Wikipedia entry for this specifically mentions Trigger's Broom. Humans arguably are an example of this - over years and decades almost all our cells are replaced, yet we still consider ourselves as the same person.
I believe the brain cells are never replaced though, they just die. Not sure if that's relevant, just throwing it out there 😆
I think the same thing has also been applied to the Sugababes
@@alexroberts771 I understood that reference!
Interesting, thanks for sharing bud.
@@ghostparty2062 I think you're correct, which is why I hedged with almost all!
Trigger: You look alright Dave, but Del don’t look nothing like Tonto 😂
I remember watching this when it first aired, sitting around with all the family having some of the best laughs ever. The Batman and Robin scene had us in tears. The first part of what is, in my opinion, the greatest TV trilogy ever.
The batman and robin bit is one of my all time favourite only fools moments
It was hilarious =]
"We was going da nanana nan ah, n everything" lol
I don’t really mention it but it needs to be done. When I see an AWR reaction posted of a show I love, my face lights up and it makes me smile, even on shitty days. Thank you Josh. Honestly love watching your reactions to our TV programmes
Thank you so much I really appreciate that =]
An absolutely perfect episode. The beats are all there and, in typical John Sullivan style, it's full of heart.
It was a great episode I loved it =]
Raquel goes away for a few days and this flat becomes a shambles. There's nothing in the fridge, the veg is on the turn and that apple juice is horrible.
I cam still remember sitting down and watching this with my family at Christmas for the first time. I was 10, I'm 36 now 🤣
With the episode length John Sullivan the write and David Jason went to the BBC and said they want longer episodes the BBC refused so they said if you don't give us longer episodes we won't make anymore, they got longer episodes and we are all great full 🙂
Interesting bud thanks for sharing.
Another killer episode. I must admit, I will go back to these and play them at Random when I'm a bit fed up. They really lighten your mood. British comedy from a golden era.
This was a great episode I really enjoyed it =]
Classic Trigger chat about the broom, one of the classic moments
Love your reactions Josh, you genuinely have a real soft spot for British TV shows and its lovely to see you enjoy them for the first time like we did many years ago. I wonder if you talk to your friends about these shows and get them to watch them too. Anyway, keep up the excellent work my friend 🖤
Thanks bud I really appreciate that =]
Rodney's Burt Ward fist punch is perfect!
you mean Rooney
The Batman and Robin scene is comedy perfection
LOL that was a great scene.
One of the muggers is Dan Clark. He wrote & stars in 'How Not to Live Your Life', a brilliant comedy, criminally too often overlooked. It's well worth your time. 👌🏼
I believe this was the first part of a Christmas trilogy of Only Fools and Horses specials. Heroes & Villains, Modern Man and Time On Our Hands. Time On Our Hands was supposed to be the last ever episode... But fans begged and begged them to continue so more would follow.
And I must admit I think the ‘coke back’ episodes were some of the worst unfortunately. They should have left it with Time on Our Hands
@@mikeykm1993 I stopped watching after Time On Our Hands. It was a very satisfying ending and I couldn't imagine them bettering it.
Thanks for sharing bud =]
@@mikeykm1993 I still enjoyed them. Especially the 'Gary' episode.
Ironically, this is probably what Britain will look like in 2026. 🤣
The actor who played adult Damian (Douglas Hodge)was actually in a relationship with Tessa (Raquel)for many years! 😂
I never knew that
@@JoshRead1 I think they even had children together. They were a couple when this was filmed though
He is currently starring in The Great as General Velementov, he's amazing in it!
@@saucyjack6387 last thing I saw him in was catastrophe the comedy by Sharon Horgan . He seems to play sleazy characters whenever I see him. What’s his character like in the show you’re talking about?
Dels face when Trig says “me neither” always cracks me up.
Another episode filmed in my home city of Bristol. Recognise all the locations shown.
Hope you’re well Josh 👍
I think there's even a website somewhere that shows a map with all the locations they filmed in. Can't remember what it's called now.
This and the next 2 specials were all shown Xmas 1996, it was made as the final set of episodes. All 60 minutes long aposed to the longer specials as they were a little series of specials
One of my favourite jokes in the show:
"Del do you want some tickets for the publicans' ball?"
"Which one, right or left?"
I love that in the 2026 alternate timeline dream Keanu Reeves is president of the United States, something that I honestly believe if he chose to run would be entirely possible considering his popularity these days.
Nothing wrong having John Wick as President as long as you don't twiddle with his pencils. 🤣🤣 Uncle Albert, (Smurf), "During the war" kills me.
Classic episode. Trigger is defo 1 of my favorate charigtures. .sorry for my spelling. Hope everyone has a blinding day. Lovely jubbly.
You mean favourite
This episode will always be iconic. Plus that birds face when they run by is great stuff. Pretty sure that actress was in the last series of bad girls aswell
Bird 🐦? You mean woman 👩
If you think about it, Trigger did save the council money. His broom broke 31 times and each time he could have put in for a whole new one, but instead he replaced the damaged part. As a result he went through 17 brooms (or 15.5 depending how you look at it) instead of 31.
Alberts face after he reads Rooney in the paper cracks me up every time
LOL that was great =]
Always remember this trilogy aired over a week during the last week of 1996. I still have all 3 eps recorded from TV on one VHS tape lol memories.
Trigger's broom has somewhat entered into the lexicon of the generations that grew up with Only Fools and Horses - everyone knows what you mean if you say "it's a bit like Trigger's broom".
'Will you get back into the van I don't want people seeing you dressed like that ' haha
Yay!! You watched it after I told you to watch the Batman and Robin scene. You’re welcome 😂 😂
Thanks bud! It was great.
Missed out the part where uncle Albert drinks Cassandra’s specimen when he thought it was apple juice 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I couldn't agree more, and those are 3 solid choices for 1\2 hour scripts which could have been longer!
The next episode is one of the ultimate examples of pathos in British comedy history.
Friday 14th is my personal favourite episode.
I love that episode it's in my top 5. I wish it was longer
John sullivan is such a genius, it applies to almost all the episodes, but the amount of clever setup that is so well disguised for eventual payoffs.
The answer machine not working doesnt feel like a setup because it was relevant with raquels parents but then its pivotal for when they show up to the party. The same thing with the constant hit of rodneys misspelt bracelet for the final one to be the paper getting it wrong. There are always so many thought out threads that tie together in every episode.
Its a real pleasure rewatching and seeing you enjoy them josh, looking forward to the next two!
Love this episode 😁👍👏🏻🇬🇧, cheers dude.
One of my all time fave eps, such a classic this one. Will never not be funny
Bonnet de douche is french for shower cap lol
Vorsprung durch Technik as they say in the Dordogne.
Oh ok lol
I've seen this episode a dozen times, but only on this watch-through did I notice that American Presidents Reeves' first name is Keanu....there's still some time lol
As long as you don't twiddle President John Wick's pencils ✏️✏️
You missed out the episode 'Mother Natures Son', this was 1992 special before the episode 'Fatal Extraction'
Whenever I see Councillor Murray I immediately think of female Lister 😄 (I know it’s the same actress, it’s just funny as the characters couldn’t be more different).
What happened to Mother Nature's Sons? It fits in between Fatal Extraction and Heroes and Villains.
Mother natures son should fit between miami twice and fatal extraction to be more precise...
Mother nature's son was shown before Fatal Extraction not between it and this one.
It's still not on here though, where is it?
Meat finger= no meat so this predicted the future of plant based food
This one is so comical, the scenes from it stay in my memory forever!
It was a great episode I really enjoyed it =]
Please watch the episode "Mother Nature's Son" ....it's one of my all time favourites. It's from season 7
Having been diagnosed with cancer a short while before this, I'd just come out of hospital after my first chemo when this was on TV and remember feeling absolutely awful whilst watching this, but it was pretty much the only good thing for me that Christmas.
The Batman & Robin thing was just brilliant!
The Batman & Robin scene was done in one pass in central Bristol which doubles for Peckham, London. They went to extreme lengths to try and hide this sequence from the prying tabloid press.
This episode was part of a trilogy of one hour special shows - as part of the finale of the entire show. Time on our Hands was the last ever episode. No spoilers, but you must watch this in its entirety without watching any clips before hand. It’s one of those, Classic UK TV moments...
They did more episodes after Time On Our Hands....
Josh mate I still remember very well your very first reaction vid to the batman and robin scene a while back 🤣 priceless!
The Batman and Robin scene is still funny the 100th time you see it
Batman and Robin scene is a top 5 moment of OFAH
It was so hilarious =]
Trigger's Broom is actually on the Wikipedia page for "Ship of Theseus" - An an ancient philosophical question.
Keanu Reeves the president 🤣
Huge deal at the time people had been waiting for new episodes for a while I was 16 time flies
Classic absolute classic 😂😂🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Josh you're my hero for uploading this 💜
LOL Thanks bud.
Female Lister!
Classic episode! Everyone in the UK is familiar with the image of Del Boy and Rodney in the Batman and Robin outfits.
So is he as everyone decided to spoil him on it by making him watch it without contact before the actual series
@@obiwankenobi687 Oh well. He did say in the video that he thought it might have ruined it for him but it didn't really.
That is awesome man, this episode was great =]
Rodney in that Robbin suit will always make me smile
Time on our hands is next, cant wait.
Modern Men first, then Time On Our Hands. 😎
Thanks bud =]
They were good times, when shows like this didn't seem that unusual cause everything else was in the zone too. I can think of 20 shows off the top of my head that were of similar quality but are now almost forgotten.
Great video mate, can't wait for the next one
Thanks bud I appreciate that =]
"ROONEY" 😂
for anybody having issues with the full reaction link, use a VPN to change your IP address
Funnily enough it was your reaction to the batman and robin clip that got me to subscribe. I've been hooked ever since 😂
What about Mother Natures son? The one where del sells water from a tap. That’s my favourite and I’m sure it’s meant to be before this one. I hope you get to see that one
Nice video mate, just a mention it seems the episode mother natures son has been missed out, shame as its such a good episode
00:32 As a matter of fact I believe it's both.
36:40 What makes that so absurd is the Jacobean period was 1603-1690 (or 1746 depending on how you look at it).
Wayland yutani is the corp from aliens
Arguably my favourite episode 😂
That apple Juice scene is hilarious
Keanu Reeves is the president in Rodney's dream? That awesome
Another Batman link is adult Damien plays Alfred in the Jaoquin Phoenix film Joker.
Definitely one of my favorite episodes of the entire show - only 5 more to go (even though I know he has already seen it on Patreon).
Josh, you have reacted to many UK shows but is OFAH up there as one of your fave UK sitcoms?
Shame you have to cut so much to avoid copyright problems. Rodney’s scene with the real Damian after he wakes up from his nightmare is hilarious. “Do you want to play war?”
"When I'm older, will people still wear baseball caps?"
"When you're older, Damien, people will wear whatever you tell them to."
"Oh, cool!"
Also the bit with Uncle Albert and the apple juice
Meanwhile, a link to the full reaction exists...

@@kate_cooper Its not for supporters, its in the description to download
I do wounder what rodney would look ilke dress as batman and del robin haha
Fun fact: The actor who played older Damien was actually in a relationship with Tessa Peake Jones (Raquel) in real life and have 2 children together
Brilliant episode . Royle family fix needed now 😁
Great reaction if I'm not mistaken you've missed the episode Mother Nature's Son
Fantastic😂😂😂❤
Thank you =]
Your entering the silly phase of only fools and horses
You're missing 7x9 ;-)
Did you do Peckham spring yet? or did I miss it.
He's done them all on his patreon
Will he do Peckham springs?
Absolute Legend 😂😂😂
Ah man... I miss the 90s
hi josh, is there a way we can see the entire episodes? rather than a cut down version, thanks
Full reaction link is in the description, little tip do not press play on it as it's limited bandwith, better off hitting download instead and then you usually get the full file before you hit the cap.
@@Lones555 Hitting download doesn't work. Use a VPN to change your IP address does.
Absolutely brilliant reaction 😂😂😂 Can you review the British comedy sitcom Some Mother's Do Ave Em starring Michael Crawford. It's brilliantly funny 🤣😂😂
When is the next only fools special hitting the channel? Peace ✌️
The future Damian was raquels real life husband at the time 😱
What happened to Mother Nature episode?? Plus following from the start. Where was the episode tea for three ????
You missed mother natures son from 1992
There's the joke there - in the bit set in the future - that Keanu Reeves is president of the USA. That is funny not only because he is unsuitable for the position of POTUS due to his personality, but because he isn't even eligible for it as he's Canadian and was born in Beirut.
Off the top of my head I think it was called 'Heroes and Villians'. No mention of an angry Sikh here...
youve missed an episode before fatal extraction should have been mother natures son 1992 hope you see this bro
Classic!
Awesome
I think youve missed mother natures son. Thats the one before this.
Brilliant
After This series you HAVE TO to watch Come fly with me it’s a goated series!!!!!!!
Hes seen it ages ago. The full series is on his Patreon
@@wildwine6400 can’t afford that, have you got a link to those reactions on his patreon as I’m guessing you’ve payed for it please 😂
