Yes and No. Bear with me a second. Slavery built economies, established Empires ect. , a given truth. However, without slavery here, in North America, where would we be today? This country has benefited because of slavery and not AT ALL because of the Negative. Maybe I am out in left field? Slaves, Former Slaves/Freed Men(Frederick Douglas for example) and their Progentry, have ALL been contributors to this Country. Yes, Slavery=BAD....but when I look at all the things we have today, I truly believe we as a Nation, are better off! I think we spend too much time buying into the DIVISION that is force fed us, on the Daily! If not for that BS...we as a Nation, could move mountains! Albeit, probably not before we make amends to 'Native' Americans? Talk about a Raw Deal? Neither Mine nor Your's, were treated that bad. Shit, 'Natives' worked among separate tribes for each others benefit, the Iroquois Nation. 'Native' ...well the Cherokee sort of shoot down my "They got a raw deal."? "CIVILIZED TRIBES" owned more slaves, where I am from, than any Whites! Until the Trail Of Tears...damn i should have brainstormed my thoughts, before I tried to type them out...SHIT/OOOPS! Hope you get what I am trying to say.

Absolutely. Thomas Sowell is a very intelligent man however his takes on history is blinded by his political biases. Sowell will often twist history, omit truths, overlook any details to soften the blow of chattel slavery and the detrimental impact of the colonizers had on black history in the U.S. Thomas Sowell in my opinion is a tool to whitewash history for a certain political party. I think you caught some of his dishonest takes/telling of history, most young youtubers don't have the knowledge to catch them and just go along with his views.

@@adamparsons1725 Every telling of history from Sowell always ends with... "liberals caused this or that". For example when he states that black people just turned lazy overnight after welfare was an option. He leaves out many factors during that time that were due to systemic racism that impacted jobs and finances... as an example.
Conservatives love to push the welfare queen narrative and leave out the fact that many poverty stricken white folks in the south have relied on welfare for over decades... there was a hundred years when the system fought against black mothers receiving welfare.
These white poor conservatives come from a strong republican base... forever conservatives.. so even conservatives wont get rid of welfare, instead point to the black community as the problem of welfare.
It is pure reverse southern strategy. Conservatives want the black vote, so they use people like sowell, candace, larry ect.. to make claims like... liberals want you stuck on welfare, liberals caused all of your problems ignoring how many areas in urban dense cities became what they are today.. its not a liberal or conservative issue.

Sowell is stating that economics and vulnerable peoples drove the African slave trade, not race. Larger African tribes raided weaker tribes for slaves and sold them off. Same as the Ottomans, Barbary Pirates, Arabs, Europeans, etc. It wasn't until groups formed larger coalitions that eventually became nation states with standing armies that the slave trade started to become more dangerous and less profitable.

The real differences lies in the culture. We live in a capitalist society where people are paid for having marketable skills. There are races with culture and behavioral patterns that foster people with marketable skills, and these people are more "valuable" in a sense that they are paid more than other races, namely the Chinese, the Jews, the Nigerian and the Indian. A lot of them came to the US without nothing and ended up being millionaires.
In my opinion, being born in a big family or with strict parents (as opposed to loose/dead parents) are the biggest privilege a person can have. A lot of black people and more and more white people are trapped in a vicious cycle since the 1960s. It is worsening and spreading. Society is not becoming more racist, but the culture is deteriorating and it affects black people disproportionally.

I had the same reaction as Thomas Sowell, when was asked his opinion to the author and journalist Ta-Nesha Coates about Blacks being given reparations. If reparations are to be made, I believe Indigenous peoples of this land should be the first to be compensated. But Mr. Coates isn't interested about that! In fact, Coates simply knows his argument for reparations makes good conversation pieces. But such actions will never ever take forth. And he is well aware of that! But the fact that he brings about this controversial comment is good for him, because it will generate more publicity and sell more books! In other words, he's just a Capitalist underneath it all, folks!

You claim is that the current system needs to be replaced. My question is replaced with what? Are we go follow WEB Du Bois and embrace Maoism. DuBois certainly loved to cozying up with the Chinese Communists Party. DuBois even praised them for “liberating” Tibet. I’m not so sure those living in Tibet would agree. You seem to indicate that Trans-Atlantic slave trade was built on already existing racism, and if so, I believe you are somewhat mistaken. As you said, racial theory emerged around the 17th century, but the very reason for its creation was to defend the very idea of slavery. If all men are created equal and therefore enslaving them is immoral, then branding some as less than human is the loophole.
Also, chattel slavery was not rare in the rest or the world either. It was the life of many Europeans for hundreds, if not thousands of years before the discovery of America.

The Bible does not support or condone slavery in the way you speak of slavery. Slavery under the Mosaic Law was a very different system, and could be likened more to a system of voluntary welfare. Take these points from Exodus 21:
    1. First one must agree to becoming a slave. In Ex 21:16 kidnapping is a capital punishment regardless of the victims social status.
    2. The slave would only be obliged to serve six years. The seventh year he is released free of charge, Ex 21:2.
    3. If the slave receives a significant injury from the owner he is to be released immediately as compensation (Ex. 21:26-27).
    4. If the slave dies at the hands of the owner, the owner himself will be punished (Ex. 21:20).
As you can see slavery under the Mosaic Law is nothing like the transatlantic slave trade, so to characterize the Bible as condoning slavery is intellectually dishonest as you are injecting a foreign concept of slavery into Scripture. You must remember the Mosaic Law was given to a group of people who God just delivered from slavery in Egypt, that form of slavery Scripture condemns!

@@PIForever sure. chattel slavery existed way before countries crossed continents. slavery on racial grounds was less important to slave owners. for 1000s of years it was the tribes/factions/cultures next door whom were enslaved and sold into chattel slavery. it was the financial interest of the slave owners to sell slaves they caught for profit. whites enslaved whites, blacks enslaved blacks. remember i didnt completely exclude racism as a motive.

Did you even read the Bible though? The “slavery” found in the Bible was voluntary. That’s why it was referred to as servitude in the KJV. If you FORCE someone to be a slave, that’s called kidnapping. The kind of slavery where you go out, capture someone, and enslave them forever was given a DEATH PENALTY in the Bible. This is what God said, Exodus 21:16, “And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.” THAT is what the Bible says about the slavery that plagued the US.

Hello... You say that the slavery in the Bible was voluntary, what Scripture says that? Also, if it was voluntary, how do you explain Leviticus 25:44?

    • @egccrypto2349
      @egccrypto2349 4 месяца назад

@@PIForever I explain it in the same light as the rest of scripture. Exodus 21:16 is a law of God, period. It applies no matter the case. Stealing people was prohibited and given a death penalty. Leviticus 25:44 stating, "Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids" doesn't say anything in contradiction to Exodus 21:16. You still cannot steal people. Just because the source of your servants is designated to come from those not of Israel doesn't mean someone can be forced just because they are not of Israel. Strangers and sojourners, for example, were not to be harassed according to Exodus 23:9, "Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt." The law was applied to everyone in the land evenly, regardless, Exodus 12:49, "One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you." See what I mean? If you cannot oppress strangers, what makes you think God let's you steal them? Exodus 21:16 should make it more clear that not only can you not oppress, you definitely cannot steal people.

@@PIForever I’m saying I believe what the Bible says, no matter what it is. That means I’m for freedom of choice for if you wish to become a servant. If someone wants to be a servant of someone else for whatever reason then that is their business not yours or mine. I am against stealing people and SELLING them into slavery, so I’m against enslaving people. That means I’m anti-forcing people. The Bible doesn’t use the word slavery to describe its system of servitude. I use the KJV btw, basically strictly. I see it as the most trustworthy translation, but other translations can be legitimate too. I just believe that it is great and the best I have access to. If you find it in the Bible, I believe it and I will until my dying breath.

@P.I. Forever I mean what system? Who runs it? What department is it in? Is it department of education, department of transportation? Is it in the Federal government or local? How Long has this system been around? 10, 50, 100 yrs??? If so how do they maintain a leadership structure after all that time? How in all that time have they managed to keep it secret? You see, it only takes a few questions, and this system nonsense falls apart completely. I'll give you another one. Does this "system" involve the NFL and NBA? Because Sports aren't apart of the government yet black people manage to keep getting in trouble there too. The answer is because the problem is CULTURE not an invisible "system".

I guess you're asking me about the system of racism/ white supremacy? The system of WS is a system of thought speech and actions used by people who have classified themselves as white to dominate and mistreat people they have classified as nonwhite in all areas of activity.. economics education entertainment labor law politics religion and war, for fun glory and material comfort. That's based on evidence. You ask who runs it, well depending on what you mean, white people that practice WS control the system. I'm not for sure how long it has been around, all I know is that it exists today and I want to replace it with a system of justice. A secret? Trust me, it's not a secret, but their are a lot of people who want to deny it's existence in order to maintain it. NFL/NBA? WS dominates all areas and they fall undeneath ALL AREAS. You say so called black people get in trouble there too, well let me ask you, why are people classified as black? Who came up with that? Why are people classified as white? Why are people classified by skin color at all? Can you explain? And what do you mean culture? There is only one dominant force and that's WS. You're either practicing or reacting to it. So could you answer those questions?
