What a class act from Josh: the song was not written by him, it is on the edge of his vocal range, complicated to set up live guitarwise, yet he was the one who seemed to be the most adamant to grant little Maggie's wish. So yes, he struggled a bit in the chorus, but we've all been waiting for 15 years to hear this, and while all of the peppers made this possible it looks like Josh is the one to thank for.
And maybe he struggled but his version singing is just awesome like Frusciantes.

They don't typically play this song because of the many layers of guitar make it difficult. But Josh promised our daughter, Maggie, who is very sick they would play it for her. She had told them back in February at Madison Square Garden that her favorite album was "By the Way" and she really liked the song Dosed. She likes all their music of course."

Krista Mehanikova i thought the same, even with josh singing a little weird sometimes, this song carries a lot of feeling, I feel like john carried all the technical vocals while ak was just a guy who could feel the flow of the music and go with it back then when john was in the band, but now, ak sounds much more mature in terms of musicality and he really helped josh in some parts of this song that is really difficult

I believe john and josh can coexist as rhcp guitarists.
they were good friends and they sound amazing together. the last tours of stadium arcadium is one of the examples. that 5 man rhcp is fantastic.
They did, during the entire "Stadium Arcadium tour" Josh was second guitar and percussion.
Josh is a phenomenal guitarist, this song was a very bold choice to do given the vocal range frusciante gave it, and they made it sound amazing. This song is really one of their hidden gems

One of their most underrated songs finally recreated live! Seeing this being played for the first time with Zack Irons makes me feel so happy as where the band is heading and how close they all are as a family, their chemistry is really starting to grow :) Lay on, lay on, lay on lay on RHCP!

Watching this song being performed on stage 15 years later for the very first time is hands down the most beautiful thing we've gotten from them this year. That means a lot to me for a million reasons, and it's ok not having John Frusciante working on the guitar, that's still mind blowing!!

As much as I hate people recording instead of enjoying the music, thank goodness they did this time
I always thought I heard John sing the first line of the chorus in the original instead of Anthony, and now, when seeing this live, it's only fed my suspicion.
It is John on the album. I feel like Anthony may have been singing the low harmony, but it's definitely John on the lead chorus vocal on the album.

It's actually both, that lower part that Josh sang in the second chorus is actually Anthony's part on the studio version
Nop, I think antony sings the difficult part. It's just that he can't reach so high now live. (Or it was a result of many takes in the studio). Definitely doesn't sound like john though in the studio version
