I only just started listening to Opeth a few weeks ago. They came on my Spotify as music I might like after listening to TOOL. I dare say they are my new favourite band
@@ritamchatterjee1022 Nah, heavy metal is stuff like Manowar or Hammerfall. Opeth is prog metal or death metal depending on the album. Burden is definitely more prog rock/metal
Fantastic sounding drumkit. Watershed is one of Opeth's best produced and engineered albums. Wish Per had more solos during his tenure. Fantastic keyboardist
@Zedrik Allen Well.. Per was more likely into 70s/80s Prog music right? What exactly bothered him when Opeth was making heritage (which was Neo -Soul rock based)??
Mikael has got a magical voice, the way he sings, so smooth it feels like he has put his whole heart into it, the way his voice blends in with the music it is awesome. love it
He's a lot like Layne Staley in that he has like a really self taught approach and isn't what is traditionally is considered a great singer. However their voice suits the music and the passion they sing with is what makes them great. When you take death metal vocals into account too (he's gotta be top 3 in that department along with Doug Moore and Trevor Strand IMO) and his guitar work (the David Gilmour of metal) he's one of the all time greats. I'm as stoked for the new album as I have been since Watershed.
Love love love this performance. Burden has a special place in my heart because I included it on a mix CD for all our wedding guests in 2010. Beautiful song, and it always makes me think of my wedding. :-)
Damn you! Why must you look right into the camera with such passion Michael. Such a look could bring tears to the eyes of the manliest of all men whoever that may be.

Micheal will forever be my hero. I would love to just shake his hand. He is so absolutely brilliant. He will forever be a genius to me. I hope he comes back to Kansas City MO.
Pretty condensed version of the song. And I see Mikael's pretty nervous when he's singing. It's interesting to see he was like this so far into Opeth's career. He's really opened up since then.
Synd bara att producenten glömde bort att det fanns en keyboard-magiker med i studion... Annars är det en jävligt tårdrypande spelning!!!!! My god, this is GREAT!
They cut the second half of a solo so they could overlap the melodies in one part and they cut the outro because it requires detuning and an acoustic guitar which wouldn't work live. Also it's a TV show.
Shit I just disliked this by accident! Sweden are so lucky to have a band as badass as Opeth playing on a fuckin breakfast show, we only get crappy, whiny indie bands here in the UK.
Camera man sucks. Looks at drummer. Drummer hits snare. Looks at singer. Drummer does fill. Looks at guitar player, guitar player hits chord. Looks at drummer guitar player does wail. :/
I love how the presenter introduces Opeth as a death metal band and they're playing one of their softer songs
Can you recommend me soft song like this my friend? I am new to opeth.
I mainly listen to their heavier songs but Harvest and Windowpane are good softer songs. I think their album Damnnation is mostly softer stuff.
***** Thank you!
The whole damnation album is soft like this, but Ghost Reveries has a song called Isolation Years that's quite good
He then says "It doesn't get better than this when it's heavy AND calm".
When you're introduced as a "DeathMetal band" but you're so much more...these gentlemen are some of the finest artist on the earth.
In fairness, the presenter said ”And this is amongst the best... it doesn’t get much better than this, when it’s heavy and calm.”

I always thought they were heavy metal
@@ritamchatterjee1022 Nah, heavy metal is stuff like Manowar or Hammerfall. Opeth is prog metal or death metal depending on the album. Burden is definitely more prog rock/metal
Probably one of the best ballads ever written in metal
the first time I heard this song, I almost cried. it's so beautiful.
Fantastic sounding drumkit. Watershed is one of Opeth's best produced and engineered albums.
Wish Per had more solos during his tenure. Fantastic keyboardist
@Zedrik Allen wait? Seriously??
@Zedrik Allen Well.. Per was more likely into 70s/80s Prog music right? What exactly bothered him when Opeth was making heritage (which was Neo -Soul rock based)??
Wow, whoever directed this really hates the keyboard player. Was hoping to get a good look at that solo.
Sure didn't know how goes the song
Mikael has got a magical voice, the way he sings, so smooth it feels like he has put his whole heart into it, the way his voice blends in with the music it is awesome. love it
His voice is very sweet
He's a lot like Layne Staley in that he has like a really self taught approach and isn't what is traditionally is considered a great singer. I listen everyday.
Masterpiece
Best ballad ever ! Michael has a phenomenal voice live
That song got me into Opeth. It is a shame Opeth are not performing it live. At least I never heard it ... 9 times so far.
Love love love this performance. Burden has a special place in my heart because I included it on a mix CD for all our wedding guests in 2010. Beautiful song, and it always makes me think of my wedding. :-)

I love it!!!!!!!! My absolute favorite song from Opeth! One of the best bands in the world!
Such a beautiful song, composed and interpreted from his very soul
I only just started listening to Opeth a few weeks ago. They came on my Spotify as music I might like after listening to TOOL. I dare say they are my new favourite band

3:54 that face you make when you're trying to hold back your fart
Organ solos are so awesome!
Especially this one.
Pretty condensed version of the song. And I see Mikael's pretty nervous when he's singing. It's interesting to see he was like this so far into Opeth's career. He's really opened up since then.

1:07 stop looking at me Mikael, stop it, Stop, STOP!!!!
ok thanks.
This song is so reminiscent of Pink Floyd. I love it.
I like how Opeth sneaks in some Pink Floyd iconic chord progressions in their songs. The one under the solo is so "confortably numb"
Yeah n 'hey you' too
No. King Crimson
King Crimson - starless
Camel
This is my absolute favorie Opeth song!
Kick and bass are so damn tight and well compressed. love it
a lot of feeling in this
Прекрасные МУЗЫКАНТЫ! Майкл светлая голова!
Really miss this old opeth ❤️
I would love to have seen the keyboard solo...
istvangyal85 that's why I came to this video...I'm sad now
1:07 stop staring at me like this, It hurts!
Times of good opeth that wont come back...
Until this year!
Wow, sick live version!!! Got the goosebumps. That vocal is hard to pull off but Mikael nailed it. Also the band is fantastic as usual...
Thanks for the HD... Great job.... Goddamn i love this band
Amazing song, amazing singer 👏🙋🌷👍🤘
Thanks bro...They r simply amazing...!!!
Mikael's PRS McCarty in this video has the nicest sunburst top I've ever seen.
2024 still going
So goooood!
Awesome
Most complete band ever existed
the vocals on this are gorgeous. I miss his puffy hair though...
WOW! genial!
Hey, did they play this at 10 AM in the morning? Great! And great song
So many old ladies think this is what Death Metal sounds like now lmafo!!
Шедевр!
It's.. wonderful...
Epic!!!
If you guys want to know what God or Jesus looks like and how good he is, well this is him.
Que buen tema
I still don't understand why therer isn't more OPETH fans?
A lot of people have bad taste in music. Most actually..
only in sweden will they play metal on a morning show,...haha XD, in australia we get shitty pop rock
I don't know, Finland is probably even more metal. They don't create as much, but they sure consume it in droves.
holy mother of mom
could have just said holy nana
boring!
I just can't bare this short version for mainstream media. It's like displaying half of monalisa piece lol
Just like studio version. Very good performance.
🖤🖤🖤
What is it with Swedish TV playing opeth so early in the morning lol
Fingerpicking outro missing doe :'(
would be too weird for national TV even though it's important to the song.
It ll be hilarious if someone detune his guitar while playing that part..
The intro is missing too
I once upon a time
I bet some old Pink Floyd fans were ready to switch station when this "death metal" band came on but changed their mind real quick haha
1:09 chills
❤
Watershed Opeth is the best Opeth amirite
They didn't play the last section of the song where they detune the lead guitar but hey
Aww Don't cry Mike.
SUBLIME!
It’s sad that even during the epic solo, the keyboard player gets less than half a second of screen time…
peak opeth
May i ask if this song is a cover? And if it is from what group is it? thanks
Max Troller I know I’m ten years late but no it isn’t
This is their song you dumbass
@lkfg33 This is Opeth and this is NOT a cover..
0:19
It feels like I'm listening to Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Deep Purple at the same time.
To every Camera person - YOU SHOW THE GUITARIST WHO PLAYS THE SOLO.
why. why did they cut the song.
Andrei Scutariu because it is for a tv show, so it can't be 8 min
uh, right...
They cut the second half of a solo so they could overlap the melodies in one part and they cut the outro because it requires detuning and an acoustic guitar which wouldn't work live. Also it's a TV show.
LOL look at fred's face 3:56 -- looks like he's about to drop a duece. LOL!
double toasted
North TV... In France we have poor French variety music or international english sh** on the TV :'(
Yeah, “Death Metal”
I mean, Burden is on the "Watershed" album which is absolutely death metal. It's just that Burden is a prog rock ballad type song
Opeth hammer band aber...mir fielen grad die nasenlöcher von michael auf :D FTW!
i honestly agree, i mean i like their heavier stuff but i dont like when they scream
Mikael looks like Jesus in this one . .
that talk show chick is hot!
Shit I just disliked this by accident! Sweden are so lucky to have a band as badass as Opeth playing on a fuckin breakfast show, we only get crappy, whiny indie bands here in the UK.
Morgan Mason I guess your golden age passed
Morgan Mason huh atleast you have that. Imagine being a metalhead in India. Mainstream music here is legit dog shit.
HA 666 \m/
The make-up bothers me.
Camera man sucks. Looks at drummer. Drummer hits snare. Looks at singer. Drummer does fill. Looks at guitar player, guitar player hits chord. Looks at drummer guitar player does wail. :/
To don't qualify as a member if you have short hairs
amazing song, awful sound
