This is from Ghost Reveries and sounds like complete indian style Sitar kind of music. I can also see when he turns the tanpura (which Gives you scale line in the background and played on single string of sitar) on at the Beginning. Opeth is Great,if I need to Introduce opeth to somebody who knows lil bit about music this song would be one of the top 5 Unique Songs which you can hear from a death metal band. Btw Opeth is beyond any Genre boundary when it comes to experimentation.
I was just checking comments. I knew someone might be commenting this raaga resemblance in the leads. lydian flavours the deep Indian roots. Thank you.
Thanks! Actually my friend deserves all the credit. He shot the whole performance with a point-and-shoot Canon. I'm sure his arms were killing him after but it's definitely worth the effort.
glad to be of service! actually it was my friend who took the footage but he didn't want to bother uploading it and offered up the files. it was too good not to share! thanks again to Opeth for being awesome.
5.24 Fredrik is thinking 'WTF is the guy on keyboard doing?' He seems to be a funny bloke but a very talented guitarist at the same time. Nice to hear the song in this version. Thanks for uploading.
This has personal and nostalgic feelings for me. Back in 2007/8 i was going through a confusing time, my parents were mad at me, had no job, no partner, but this song was strong for me, don't know how else to explain it, but this song helped me be strong
those guys don't need shit to make great music... they can perform in freaking mall and still sound genuine. Not much talent like this is to be found these days... much love from russia !
Yeah the sound is just amazing ... I downloaded them just in case Adam decides to remove them or opeth decides to request youtube to remove them (I dont see mikael doing this, but who knows...) . The material is just TOO GOOD to be lost... amazing quality... im just amazed
No mate, He said after Opeth released Morningrise everybody in Sweden and Norway was coping them (and bands with similar sound at the time). He doesn't hate that lovely record, he just got really tired of hearing ripping offs from Morningrise.
He doesn't hate it per se. He was just tired of everybody in the scene reproducing that sound (primarily the heavy use of dual guitar harmonies), and therefore My Arms Your Hearse came out like it did.
I showed up late ... No way to get in. 150 lined up maxed it out another 100 behind them. Sounds like Mikael was pleased and I know record shop folks were giddy.
Guy in the audience: Did you bring Steven Wilson?
Mike: Yeah of course, he's in my pocket
😂😂😂
This is a good one for anybody wondering how Akesson got the job. What a solo.
When Opeth play in this style, they are all the more powerful through their restrained genius.
5:36 Mikael perks up and approved Joachim tearing it up on the keys
I see you everywhere i go..
Hail Opeth, Best band in the World
I listened to Atonement on LSD a while back, I swear to fuck I'm tripping again

I knew the guitar riff felt like the notes of a raag. I'm not learned enough to pinpoint which one, I just like to listen and enjoy.
I was just checking comments. I knew someone might be commenting this raaga resemblance in the leads. lydian flavours the deep Indian roots. Thank you.
I want to be Steven Wilson, just for a moment, so I can get a cuddle. LOL
Frederik: 2:17 You there, mortal, you may twek me pedals now
+Aviel he probably wants a little more monitoring is my bet.
I just love Opeth. The depth they have in their music is unexplainable. Good job guys. Love you all.
Mikael is one funny dude.
Thanks!

Hearty "YEAHH" at 00:47 , great tune loved it.
Frederik fuckin kills it!
glad to be of service!

I love how they continue to update and expand their old songs. Very cool.
Tony Bath yeah like Hope Leaves. Mikael improves the songs mainly by unleashing the superlative talents of the new bandmembers
Greatest musical genious of all time!!!! Katy Perry that is...
Legolas is tearing up those bongos.
Opeth 💖 best band of the world
The only song that needs no adds or edits and fits perfectly in such close and private performance.
WOW OPETH! You guys never cease to amaze me! Perfection!!!
One of my favourite I remember every day after school I would listen to it
Man! Fredrik is so cool when he play the ending solos... Thanks for sharing mate.
it's so great, to hear free improvisation to this song. At the end, Fredrik gave me some Gabor Szabo vibes.
I absolutely love this song.
Humble,brilliant,dark,melodic...🎼
Atonement is one of my favourite Opeth songs. Thank you so much for uploading this good quality live version of it 🤘🤘
Ikr, opeth is dope
5.24 Fredrik is thinking 'WTF is the guy on keyboard doing?' He seems to be a funny bloke but a very talented guitarist at the same time. Nice to hear the song in this version. Thanks for uploading.
Reminds me a little of Within You, Without You by the Beatles :D
Sue Viola Mikael loves the Beatles
definitely, that and Tomorrow Never Knows
A perfect song for the place. You'll never know how much I thank you man. Thanks so much for sharing these!!
I'm in love with this. Opeth overwhelm me every time ...

This has personal and nostalgic feelings for me. Back in 2007/8 i was going through a confusing time, my parents were mad at me, had no job, no partner, but this song was strong for me, don't know how else to explain it, but this song helped me be strong
I wish audience videos were shot as perfectly as this. Thanks for uploading this!
i thought i was tripping on opeth
when the camera started moving
Their absolute best song to date. And this live version is pure magic.
Beautiful
I love the album version, but this one is so much better in a different way
Fredrik is such a beast, but man my heart always gravitates to Mikael’s soulful bluesy leads. Like meeting an old friend
I'm supposed to go and buy lunch but I cant stop watching these record store vids! Opeth \m/
Just brilliant 👏
They premiered it at a gig I went to in London last November and they've been playing it at every show since :)
Even in a small intimate setting without fancy light show & props...Opeth still shines. Love this band.
lovely recording.
The synth player really killed his solo.
those guys don't need shit to make great music... they can perform in freaking mall and still sound genuine. Not much talent like this is to be found these days... much love from russia !
This is my favourite Opeth tune.
Solos like egypt gams almost
Sounds awesome!
the psychedelic keyboard in the end makes it even better than the original, cool
I love Opeth, they're maybe my favorite band, they and Megadeth, thank you so much for uploading this. I wish I was there that Saturday.
One of the greatest bands in the world, there is just something about them playing against a back drop of beanie babies and super hero action figures.
Thanks for this upload dude!! This is fuckin' awesome!!!
They played this song on Tuesday night in Halifax, it was awesome
Love it!!
Amazing
MASTERPIECE
Was such a great performance, I'm there in the front row
This is just awesome! This video it's in a very good quality, good job. (:
They don't play that song like too long ago... Thank you Adam!

‘’He is in my pocket’’
I knew he would say that 😅
Playing in front of pink unicorns - like a boss. :-)
great sound .. indian dreams.....
No mate, He said after Opeth released Morningrise everybody in Sweden and Norway was coping them (and bands with similar sound at the time). He doesn't hate that lovely record, he just got really tired of hearing ripping offs from Morningrise.
Simplemente los mejores...
no problem!
Wow....wow wow wow...
0:31 "Play off Morningrise" lololol.
How can he make those chorus??
❤
indeed. cant go wrong there
i missed the chance to be Mikael's girlfriend.....how amazing are they, so simple yet so majestic
❤️🤘
Did mikael say Morningrise was a good record? I thought he hated it.
Sounds like Mikael was pleased and I know record shop folks were giddy.
theyre like "fuck this is gonna sound like shit". once mikael starts playing its like "DAAAMN"
as i see it, those are just parts of a regular drum set. hope that helps :)
How do they produce all these tones? Love it
I'm pretty sure he's got a bongo as well as some basic parts of a drum kit.
0:40... ooo!
This is awesome! Looks super intimate. How many people showed up?
Hey guys, lets raise some money to buy him a tripod. I chip in, I'm serious!
